Chapter 97 - You Cheated

“Waaahh …! This place is so beautiful!!” cheer Charlotte. He looked behind him, then grabbed Dira's hand. “Come, we're in now. I can't wait!”

We got off a pickup car as soon as we arrived at the nearest location from the river. We had to enter the forest and follow the path before we arrived at the riverbank. Charlotte cheered happily as the sound of the river water was already heard, our sign was almost there.

We had lifeboats, helmets, and paddles each, so we were ready to sail the river. Hadi rented two inflatable boats for all of us. Me, Wyatt, Clarissa, and Wendy were on one boat, while Hadi and the others were on the second.

There are other groups who will walk down the river with us so that the trip does not feel lonely. The river flow was quite swift and I didn't need much paddling to help the boat move on. After all, the man who guided us helped us a lot to master the boat.

Clarissa did not stop talking to see the beauty around her. He asked our driver a lot. Me and my friends just exchanged glances looking at her behavior. He yelled happily with us as the boat speeded down the stream, but a second later he asked our guide casually.

Hadi tried to race our boat on a wide part of the river and there were not many rocks. But Wyatt and I didn't allow it. The atmosphere around us was quite tense as none of us were willing to budge. The guide reminded us that there was a heavy current ahead, so we tried to enter it first. When we managed to speed away leaving Hadi's boat, we cheered happily.

“You were cheating,” accuse Hadi when we stopped for a moment near the waterfall.

Me and Wyatt looked at him in disbelief. “Cheat!?” I screamed while shaking slowly. “We won fairly! You guys who are weak can't pedal as strongly as we.”

“What did you say? We weak?” Dira came closer and stood in front of me with a defiant look. “You move first, it's only natural that you win. If we're the ones in front, I'm sure we can move far ahead of you. Not as slow as your movements were.”

His boatmates encouraged him. Me and my one-boat team feel challenged. We let them move first after we rest. Dira smiled with satisfaction. He had no idea that he had just woken up a sleeping lion.

“Make sure your helmets are well plugged in and your buoys are still firmly attached to the body. This is war!” wyatt said burning our spirits. Me, Clarissa, and Wendy cheered loudly while lifting the oars we held.

Hadi's boat moved first, then we followed behind him. We let them keep their distance, especially according to our guide, in front there will be a swift current and a lot of large rocks and rocks. We let them lapse with a long distance between us. Dira occasionally turned his head and stuck out his tongue.

“You guys ready?” wyatt said as we were about to enter the wide section of the river without any rocks. We said yes, and he quickly moved his paddle. “Kebuuttt ..!” We all laughed at the choice he said.

“Kaak, we're in danger!” screeched Dira when our boat was on par with them.

“Playuh continues! Don't give up!” Hadi gave his team a boost. Adi, Dira, and Charlotte try as hard as possible to be able to follow Hadi's rapid movements. Both of our drivers laughed at our behavior, but we didn't care. There has to be one team that wins in this competition, and that team is our team.

“You cheated!” dira exclaimed as we got ahead of them.

“All losers always accuse winners so!” my reply. We cheered happily and kept paddling away from them.

Our bodies were drenched after walking down the river. We rested for a while until our clothes were dry enough before returning to the boat rental. As soon as we arrived at the rental place, we cleaned ourselves and changed clothes. Food was provided, so we could have lunch before returning to the hotel.

Another group also arrived a short while after us. They greeted the girls and invited them to talk. I could not hide my jealousy when Dira replied to them with the same hospitality. But I managed to refrain from pulling Dira's hand away from them.

“Hai, you guys are back!” greet Aunt Dafhina as we arrive with lethargic faces. “Is the rafting fun?”

“They won't be able to answer your question, dear. Just look at their faces. All they need right now is a.” mattress Uncle Brady laughed. We smiled in agreement with his words.

“Good. You guys get into the room. I'll have the waiter bring you a glass of ginger tea to warm your body,” said Aunt Dafhina.

“Thank you, Aunt,” said Hadi.

I slept very well in the room. It was late in the afternoon and my stomach was so uncomfortable that I was forced to get up. Seeing that Wyatt's bed was empty, he seemed to have woken up first. So, I followed him to the dining room.

Friends were already in the room enjoying the snack, but I did not see Dira. I took a small meal and a cup of coffee, then joined them. Hearing that there was nothing to mention regarding Dira's absence, it seemed like she was still resting in the room.

We decided to do each other's favorite activities and meet again at dinner time. Wyatt and I walked together to the pool. I continued my playing by sitting at one of the gazebos. Wyatt busied himself by checking his social media. Hadi and Adi joined us later.

“Hadi, Dira is not in the room or anywhere around the hotel.” Charlotte was suddenly standing by the gazebo. We sat up straight.

“What do you mean?” ask Hadi worried. He immediately stood up and put his footwear back on. “You didn't find him in the room, then you searched for yourself? Why not tell me from earlier?”

“I looked for him with Clarissa and Wendy. We just don't want us to make a furore. I'm sure Dira's fine. Maybe he just wants to be alone. Where should we look for him?” charlotte said without any tone of worry at all.

“My sister is nowhere around the hotel and you said she's okay?” exclaim Hadi angry. I tried not to interfere in their conversation, even though I was also worried about Dira's situation.

“I know Dira where,” said Clarissa who came with Wendy. “Bicycle renter says he was wearing one of their bikes and went towards the rice field.”

“For what he went there again?” ask Hadi wonder. Clarissa just shrugged her shoulders.

“Maybe he wants to be alone, therefore he did not tell us about this. I'll catch up with him and tell you when I need help,” Charlotte said.

“I'm coming,” said Hadi.

Charlotte immediately turned her body. “No, Hadi. It's best that one person watches him from afar. I'm not gonna bother him. If you come along, you'll ruin my plan. You won't be able to bear to see your sister is struggling.”

Hadi closed his lips, holding himself back to respond. Then he sighed softly. “Good. Please, contact us immediately if you need anything.”

Charlotte promised before she sped away towards the bike rental spot. We just exchanged glances without saying anything, then went back to doing our activities. Clarissa and Wendy went back to their room, and we waited in the gazebo.

Hadi scolded Dira when she returned with Charlotte. I'd do the same to Lily if she just left. Especially when he is under my responsibility. Uncle Hendra will be very angry at Hadi if something bad happens to Dira. And the girl did the right thing by hugging her brother to stop worrying.

That night, I had no nightmares. Maybe because my body is tired. As a result, I woke up too early and couldn't sleep anymore. Seeing that Wyatt was still sleeping soundly, I decided to play a game while sitting on the balcony.

But when I opened the curtain to see the situation on the balcony, I saw Dira sitting alone on the balcony of her room. He hugged both of his legs and his chin was placed on his knees. His gaze was straight ahead, unaware I was looking at him.

When one of her hands wiped her cheeks, I knew she was crying. I feel guilty again. He wouldn't have experienced this had I not ruined our relationship. How do I fix this?

“What are we doing here, Reese?” cilla asked who was confused because the car stopped near the gate of the Hadi family home.

“You shut up and follow me. If you keep talking, you better wait in the car.” Reese approached one of the trees on the side of the road and set his eyes on the gate.

“You wait for Hadi to come home? That's right, Reese,” protest Cilla.

“The old servant refused me outright because Hadi was not home. Just look at it later. I'm sure Hadi wouldn't have kicked me out if he was at home.” Reese closed her lips in annoyance.

“You've really gone crazy. You are suddenly attracted to this young man just because he is a rich man's boy? Do you think she'll fall in love with a woman who often troubles her sister? Just think, Reese. Why are their waiters unwilling to receive a package from you or unwilling to accept you as their guest?”
