He's The Unaffordable
Chapter 185 - The Consequences of the Disturbers

*Hadi*

Papa and Om Zach put on serious faces while we were in the car. Aunt Gista did not come, but Om was with us. I soon found out that we weren't going for work. Then where are they gonna take me during business hours?

I only received a notification from Aunt Gista asking me to come to the lobby door as soon as possible. Papa's car was waiting with them in the back seat. So, I'm the one sitting next to Mr. Kafin. They said nothing along the way.

As soon as the car entered the police station guard post, I understood. It must have something to do with Valeria. Papa couldn't have brought me here if it had anything to do with Reese. The girl only had problems with Om Edu's family, not us.

Om Zach talked to an officer, and he took us to a room. We were asked to wait. I followed Papa and Om who were sitting on the chair surrounding the large table. We waited long enough for the door to reopen and Valeria and her mother entered the room. The girl's hands were handcuffed and a policewoman held her arms.

“Thank you for complying with my request, Hendra,” said Ms. Keva with a relieved face. He looked towards his daughter who was still standing. “Come, Valeria. Say what you want to say.”

The girl looked at me. He closed his lips, looking heavy with what he was about to say. “I apologize for what I did.”

Keva's mother smiled nervously. “Tell me correctly, Valeria,” said he gave the order.

“I apologize for what I did to me, Hadi. Please, be kind to me and free me from this place,” he said again, still in an insincere tone.

“Val—” says Mother Keva who stands from her seat.

“No need. Forcing someone to do what he does not want will be useless,” Papa interjected. “If she thinks she deserves to spend her youth in prison, and give birth to her child with that condition, then just let her choose it.”

Valeria closed her lips, then she did something I didn't expect. He bowed, then knelt on the floor. “Hadi, please forgive me,” he said with his head bowed. I don't want to answer. Om Zach and Papa looked at me. I just nodded slowly.

“We will withdraw our demands and your daughter can be free after all administrative affairs are completed. But we have conditions. Do you want to hear?” said Om Zach.

“We will do whatever you ask,” replied Ms. Keva quickly.

“Good. We only gave Valeria one year to complete her studies. Once she graduates, you two and the baby should not be in the province anymore. You must not call, meet, or reprimand the family of Mahendra Perkasa if met accidentally. If you are breaking, then we will continue the charges for the crime of Valeria.” Om Zach gave the paper whose contents were just read.

“You two should sign this affidavit. Please read in advance.” He gave two pens to Valeria and her mother.

Keva's mother did not read and immediately put her autograph on. Unlike Valeria who read every word listed on the letter. I could see he objected to some of the things he read, but he didn't say anything. When he finished, he scratched his signature on the bottom of the document.

Om Zach received the document back and checked it. He gave one map to Valeria, one to Keva, and another to himself. “Our business is done. We excuse.” Looking towards us, we stood up.

“Sorry,” says Valeria slowly. We looked towards him. “How about another female? Will he not sign the same document, then be released?”

“Which woman?” ask Om Zach confused.

“Amanda,” replied Valeria briefly. He looked at us in wonder. “I heard he had a money-luck acquaintance who would help him get free. I thought you guys were.”

Om Zach chuckled. “Did you think that we told the girl to approach you to trap Hadi? We don't need a thrill to draw the public's attention to us. My sister-in-law would rather live peacefully without problems.”

“Then who does he mean?” ask Valeria again.

“It is information that we will not share to just anyone.” Om Zach smiled. “Is he free?” Valeria stunned. “Do you now understand what the payment is if you dare to disturb our family? Any moneyed person will not be able to free you, except ourselves.” Om approached us who were already standing in the doorway.

Om spoke for a moment with the police officer in the other room, while me and Papa sat waiting. Her phone didn't stop taking incoming calls from Auntie Gista, Mama, and the people I knew as her colleagues.

“Who does Valeria mean by a money man who will set her free, Om?” I asked once we were in the car again.

“Finley. It seemed like it had been a long time that the man had used different people to keep an eye on Clarissa. The girl he just hired when Clarissa entered college. According to the information that Irwan got, Finley used the same trick. He claimed to be the girl's real father. He believed and he thought what he did to Clarissa was his attempt to prove unfortunately to Finley. Though the man was just toying with him,” replied Om Zach.

I need time to digest that sentence. So, Manda approached Clarissa and became her friend in order to spy on her life? What kind of man is that? Why is he so obsessed with Clarissa? Is it because he's in love with her? That guy's gone crazy.

“Different people, who else before Manda became Finley's man?” aska I want to know. “What's his SMU friend?”

Om shakes meaningfully. He looked at Papa before answering. “Carl and Bianca Foster.”

“What?” I don't believe it. Seeing Mr. Kafin surprised, I immediately apologized to him. “Ja-so, her foster parents are her paid people too??”

Om nodded his head. “Why are you surprised so? Do you think he won't keep sending people to make sure Clarissa doesn't go back to her family? She came here, because Clarissa was close to her grandparents. Had he been looking around, Finley would not have come to Indonesia.”

“But he intends to marry Clarissa. Doesn't that mean he's obsessed with her?” I try to relate one event to another. “I can't believe she came just because Clarissa almost met her biological family.”

“Can be.” Om Zach nodded in agreement. “Moreover he received so many photos of Clarissa's growth from the age of a toddler until before he was captured. After she saw it firsthand, I think she was immediately convinced that she was in love with Clarissa. Plus, the girl is similar to the woman she loves.”

I struggled with myself at night. I wanted to tell Clarissa the truth about her foster parents, but I didn't want her to grieve anymore. I now understand why they don't care so much about him. Their attention is only for their daughter. Their decision raised Clarissa to be a child just for the money.

“Hai, darling. Not usually you contact me this soon,” greet Clarissa cheerfully. From the circumstances behind him, it seemed like he was already in the room. “I heard, Valeria is out of custody?”

It must be Om Edu who gave his name. “Iya. But that's not why I called you.”

Meanwhile in a house~

“Being rich is delicious, yes. All problems can be solved with just a snap of a finger. I should have lived on equal footing with Hadi. He would have accepted me, if I came from a rich and honorable family like Clarissa,” Valeria murmured softly.

“You still have a chance to live a better life. Even more than what Hadi or Clarissa had.” Keva brought a spoon closer to Valeria's hand. “First of all, you must eat and take care of your health. Rich men do not like unattractive girls.”

“I'm pregnant, Ma.” Valeria laughed sarcastically as she rubbed her stomach. “Where are men from good families willing to marry a bad woman like me.” He picked up a spoon, then began to bribe the rice into his mouth.

“Therefore, we will see the doctor tomorrow morning to abort your womb,” Keva replied casually.

Valeria rounded her eyes. He touched his stomach in a protective manner. “No. This kid is innocent. I'll raise him.”

“I won't let you smear my name more than this. You are not a virgin anymore is not important for a man. But once you have kids, they won't be interested in you. If you still want to live luxury, follow my words.”

Valeria laughed cynically. “According to Mama's words? Look at what happened to me for following everything Mama said. My life is ruined, Ma. I won't obey Mama's words anymore.”

“Oh, yes?” Keva smiled arrogantly. “You can live without me? If you want to raise that child, get out of this house! I don't want to take care of two useless people for the rest of my life.”
