I did not see Hadi coming out of the cafe parking lot. But I remember that he had entered his car. I didn't feel any premonition so didn't wait for him to leave that place. Anyway, I'm in a hurry not to be late to pick up Lily.
Hadi showed no signal that he intended to go somewhere other than to his workplace. Moreover, he did not stop thinking about Clarissa as long as we spoke. After all Hadi was the one in charge. So, there was no way he would go anywhere else without telling anyone.
I tried to help by contacting our basketball playing friends, but they didn't know about Hadi's whereabouts. They were all confused by my question. They were not close to Hadi and only met him for basketball. So, naturally they were astonished by the phone call from me.
“How? Anyone know where Hadi is?” ask Lily who's worried.
I shook my head slowly. “Where has he been since noon?” I glanced at my watch. “It's nine o'clock at night. Did something bad happen to him?”
“It could be that he had an accident, then there was someone who took him to the hospital. Try to contact the nearest hospital from Uncle Hendra's office,” Lily said.
“No. They must have done that. After all Hadi always carried an identification tag. It is impossible for the hospital not to contact his family if he is actually in the hospital. Someone might have kidnapped her. Or someone trapped him and invited him to meet somewhere, then locked him.”
He had just said that his family had many enemies, bad things immediately happened to him. Where is he about? If Uncle alone can't find him with the help of Om Irwan, let alone me. All I know are friends who have a hobby of playing games.
Until Dad and Mama came home, we had not heard from Dira. Apparently Mama knew about Hadi who did not return to the office. They were not suspicious even though Hadi did not tell her that he would not come. It was only at the time of coming home from work that they knew Hadi was nowhere. Uncle still meets the invitation to dinner with his colleagues accompanied by Mama. But Om Irwan kept him informed of their search.
My phone shook again and I immediately picked it up from the table. Reading Dira's name, I answered the incoming call. “Are there any news from Hadi?” I'm just impatient.
“Iya. Thank goodness my brother has come home. She's doing just fine. I can only tell you that now. I have to join my family again. See you later.” Dira cut off the phone before I could ask what happened.
“That's important Hadi is home,” said Mama calms me down. Coinciding with that, Dad came out of the room fresh and put on his pajamas. “It's time for me to take a shower and get ready for a break. Good night, kids.”
Lily and I replied, then stood up from the couch. We also need to get ready for a break. Lily still has to go to school, while I promise to meet my lecturer to discuss chapter two of my script that she hopefully has finished checking.
“Iannng!” I felt someone holding me from behind. “I miss you!”
I just took off my helmet. “Dira, let me take off my jacket for a while.” He complied and let go of his embrace. I took off my jacket, then put it with the helmet into the available space under the seat. I locked the safe, hugged my girl.
He laughed amusedly. “Why didn't you see me yesterday before you left with Brother?” He tightened his embrace. “By the day I looked for you in the lecturer room.”
“Me and Hadi haven't spoken in a long time. So, I'm not waiting until you're out of the lecture hall. We can still meet today anyway. I'll wait for you, then we have lunch together.”
“Good.” Dira let go of his embrace. “This one I want to eat beef satay,” he said happy.
“Anything you want, baby.” I grabbed his shoulder. “Come, you better get to the lecture hall before it's too late.” Charlotte and Wyatt walked ahead of us. “How's Hadi doing? You don't tell me what happened to him last night.”
“Long friends?” many confused. To my knowledge, I was his old friend. No one else had ever been close to him since long ago.
“Iya. Do you know who his old friend was?” ask Dira. I just shook my head. “Any. The cafe is located near Papa's office. Who did you meet that day, huh? I never knew that Big Brother likes to meet old friends until forget time.”
“I'll ask him that later on when we play basketball. You don't have to think no. You should get ready to follow the fashion show. Your face should be happy and calm. Do you understand?” reminded me.
“Why do you now sound like Vikal?” taunted. I laugh.
We talked for a while near their class. As soon as Reese came, I said goodbye and returned the girl's only greeting. I didn't want to deal with him, let alone hear him ask me to say hello to Hadi. Enough Dira to do the job.
Seeing the length of the queue in front of the lecturer room, I hope that they only deliver thesis, not discussion. I won't stand waiting too long. Unfortunately, my hope was dashed. I waited for two hours until I could enter the room.
My guidance counselor just laughed at my tired face. He offered me a drink, but I refused. Thankfully, he gave me good news and stated that my second chapter was in order. I was allowed to proceed to chapter three. Spontaneous I cheer happily.
He told me what steps I needed to take when I started my research. I already knew all that at the proposal seminar. But I didn't say anything hearing him repeat it again. I know that he means well.
I glanced at the watch. There was still about an hour and ten minutes before Dira came out of the eyes of her second lecture. I used that time to go to the library. Unfortunately, I could not be rejected, I instead passed Valeria who just came out of the study room.
“Hei, Colin!” sweep it in a friendly manner. But I immediately became alert. She laughs. “I won't hug you here. It won't do any good. Your girlfriend is in college.” He smiled amusedly. “Do you know where your best friend went after chatting with you at the cafe?”
The question left me stunned for a moment. “What do you mean?” There was no way he was the person Hadi met from day to night.
Valeria approached to whisper to me, “You better ask him directly. I don't want to ruin the surprise he's prepared for you.”
I purposely did not reply to her sentence so that she would not hold me back for longer. I walked past him towards the study room. There are many students who are using desks and computers available. Seeing that there was one unused computer, I immediately approached it.
Right at lunchtime, I rushed out of the room. I already have enough material to do my research. So, after lunch, I can pick up Lily and go home. No need to go back to the library. Unfortunately, I can't play the game for the next few days.
Dira welcomed my arrival by waving from the second floor of our lecture hall. She walks with Wendy, while Wyatt is alone. Bizarrely. Where's Charlotte? The girl I was looking for appeared from behind the wall that covered the stairs. He was chatting with Clarissa while going down the stairs.
They had just twisted in the bordes and lowered their feet towards the next rung of stairs when someone pushed Clarissa from behind. The girl lost her balance and fell to the ground floor. The scene was as if it were unreal and like a scene in a movie.
As soon as my surprise disappeared, I immediately ran over to him. Charlotte could only scream in panic because she was late to help her sister. I was stunned to see the position of Clarissa's legs when she fell on the floor. He who was silent, began to groan in pain. I knelt by his side and reached out to check on his condition. But I don't know what to do first.
“Don't, Colin! Don't touch him. Let the paramedics check it out! You can aggravate the situation,” exclaimed Wyatt from the borders. I immediately pulled my hand away from Clarissa.
