*Clarissa*
Knowing that Foster's family was Finley's man made me feel relieved. I've long wondered why they don't love me. I now know the answer. It's not because I'm an evil, ungrateful child.
My intuition has been right all along. There is no one I can trust in this world. The only person who can help me is myself. The Foster family made me distrustful and chose not to be friends with anyone. The Manda who did not give up on me turned out to be her hired man.
Every time I look at a picture of Mama, I wonder, what makes Finley crazy about her? Mama's no different than me and Charlotte. She was just an ordinary young lady who had an ordinary beauty as well. All women have their own unique.
Grandpa says that Finley doesn't love Mama. He's obsessed with her, because he's the son of a successful businessman. If only Mama was only from among ordinary people, she would not try to get it that tenacious. There's a point too. Moreover, he made me the next target. He just wants our family treasure.
Hadi and I were discussing the progress of our thesis, when the butler told me there was a problem. There's a guest at the gate who's forcing me to meet. I didn't want the neighbors to be disturbed either, so I asked them to let them in.
“You don't have to do that, baby. I can call the police so they leave,” Hadi said with a worried tone.
“I seem to know who intends to see me. Don't worry, honey. They won't be able to hurt us in this house.” I held up my seat and Hadi stood up, then helped me move from the couch to the wheelchair.
“I also know who forced to meet you that. They know you're alone at home. That means, they have been watching you since far away, baby,” said Hadi who looked increasingly unsettled.
“I'll be fine,” I said calming him down. I'm happy to see him worried like this. That means he's not as cold as he usually shows in front of me.
The butler came back with two people who were once the most important part to me. But they did not hesitate to throw away all those good impressions for the sake of their only daughter. I invited them to sit on the sofa in front of me. I purposely met them in the living room, not in the family room. Because they are no longer anyone to me.
“What can I help you with, Father and Mother Foster?” ask me politely.
“You definitely know the purpose of our arrival. Please, Mila, ah, I mean, Clarissa. Please release your sister. Reese is young and often acts following her emotions. Actually, he's a good kid and you know it.” Mr. Foster looked up at my cast-clad feet and hands. “Your hands and feet will recover, but Reese's reputation will be flawed forever if she is imprisoned. Please, tell us what we have to do to get you guys to withdraw the charges against our daughter.”
“Did Reese know you guys were coming here? Does he know what he's doing is wrong? I didn't report his actions to the police, but I can help talk to my grandfather.” I looked at them one by one. “I'll just talk to him, if Reese wants to change.”
“Of course he knew we were coming here. He is also aware of his mistakes and promises to change for the better. Reese is not as bad as you thought,” said Bu Foster defending his daughter.
“Sorry, I interrupted,” said Hadi who had been silent since. “You came here to ask Rissa for help. Be polite and speak well.”
He looked towards Mr. Foster. “Rissa's hands and feet will recover, is that all that's inside your head? It takes three to four months to know what his legs and arms will recover from. Why did you predict it before the doctor examined it again? What about his blind eyes? Is it Rissa's fault that she had to suffer like this?”
He then turned to look at Bu Foster. “Do you not realize who made your child so? Your attitude continues to defend him. I can't believe the girl regretted what she did. I'm sure if Rissa goes there now, she'll yell at him.”
“Ma-forgive us our attitude,” said Mr. Foster regretfully. He looked at Hadi with fear. “We were wrong to talk like that.” He's looking at me. “Please, Clarissa. Withdraw your demands on our daughter. I promise to educate him better. He won't be able to hurt you again.”
“I'm curious about one thing,” I said slowly. They were waiting for me to continue my sentence. “Did you guys adopt me on Finley Taylor's orders?”
They both close their eyes. I immediately knew that Hadi's remark regarding that fact was true. I waited for a while, but I did not feel sad or angry as soon as I found out what they were doing behind my back. What I feel is pity. They involve Finley in their lives, but he breaks them.
“Save that money. Think of it as a sign of breaking up our relationship. I don't want to owe anyone a favor, especially you guys.” I immediately rejected it. “As I said earlier, I will talk about this with Grandpa. But I can't promise anything. The highest decision in our family is in the hands of my grandfather.”
They came home after finishing a warm drink and cake served by the waiter. I couldn't drive them, so I let Hadi take my place. He didn't immediately return to the front room, I just smiled. He must have said something to the couple. But he doesn't have to worry. I know Reese.
He was silent when he came back to me. After carrying my body and moving me to a wheelchair, we returned to the living room. Seeing that he had no trouble doing that over and over again, it seemed that regular exercise was very good for him.
“You don't have to listen to them. Talking about your demands on Reese won't make your grandfather happy. You know Om and Aunt have said no when they tried to persuade them to change their minds,” Hadi said after a while.
“There is no harm in trying. Just like the reason you and your family released Valeria, I don't want Reese to lose her youth either. I want to give him one last chance.” I put my hand on his hand. “I need your support. Please, don't be upset if I fulfill their request.”
She smiles. “Honey, whatever your decision, I will support you. But I will not be silent if you release him if he does not want to change. You want to sulk, please.”
I laughed hearing that. “Why do you still not believe me? I'm a lot meaner than I am you usually see, Hadi. You dare to play me, then you will regret. Reese will soon find out.”
“You are persuaded by the words of those who have pretended to love you. How can I believe you won't be affected by the drama Reese?” said skeptical.
“You can come with us when you meet him later.” He looked, I just smiled. Yeah, he doesn't know me very well.

Moments before~
Hadi walked towards the front door. Carl and Bianca followed him with sad faces. Their plan was unsuccessful, as Clarissa gave no certainty whatsoever. The fate of their daughter is not certain to be free in the near future.
The butler was waiting and preparing to open the door for them. Hadi stood on the porch, waiting for the couple to get out of the house. His face looked very serious, in contrast to the faces of Carl and Bianca who looked sad.
“I hope this is your last arrival,” Hadi said in English.
They both looked towards him. “You might think Reese is a bad boy who can't change. But you are wrong. He is a good boy,” said Carl looking for sympathy. “What he did was because he got out of control. He never meant to be mean to Clarissa. It's just a misunderstanding.”
“I don't care. It's not me you guys need to convince.” Hadi looked at the man sharply.
Bianca holds Hadi's arm as she intends to enter the house again. “You named Hadiyan, ‘kan?” ask the woman gently. Hadi was silent, not responding. “Reese often tells me about you. Do you know, she loves you so much?”
He looked towards the house. “Without any ill intent to Clarissa, I want you to know that. You gave my daughter a reason to live better. That's why I'm surprised this happened. Reese won't push Clarissa for no reason. Trust me.
“You need to know one thing. Clarissa is not as good as you can see. He has a bad nature. We have known him since childhood, so we know all his good and bad. I'm sure he purposely hid it from you. You better think again before love,” said Bianca half whispered, because the butler was still standing by the door.
Hadi's face flushed with anger. Bianca immediately withdrew her hand and stood away. “Rissa has kindly received you at her house. Your reply? Let alone Finley's order for you to tell me to ruin my relationship with Rissa?”
