He's The Unaffordable

He's The Unaffordable
Chapter 194 - The Mainstay Investigation

The slander that ensnared Colin taught me so many things. I was on the right path. There is no one on this earth I trust except my family and Colin. Even though I've been with Clarissa, I haven't been able to give her my full sense of trust. He will only get it once we officially become husband and wife.

If the authorities can't trust me, then I need a group of people I can trust. Like Om Irwan to Papa. But I haven't found it yet. Om Irwan is also testing who of his confidants he can propose to me. Om Zach also helped me find a lawyer I could work with later.

There are so many things that I need to prepare before I can get out of Papa completely. I don't want to depend on him for work once the company is mine. The time I have is not much. Until the time comes, I should have trusted people ready to do anything for me.

After weeks of just resting at home, Clarissa finally resumed her work at the office. I didn't see him in the morning, because I went straight to the meeting room with Papa. His time for the internship is only one month away, but he won't get any bad grades. He has given a lot of input and profit compared to other interns who diligently came for two full months.

We only have three months left to advance the trial so there is no need to pay even semester tuition. I'm very confident that my script will be finished ahead of Clarissa and Colin. They are still doing research, not yet to process the data.

Meetings at the beginning of the month are always longer than the usual week. Because the monthly evaluation of each section will be discussed and plans for one month are also presented. I always learn a lot from meetings like this. Not only programs and projects, but also know who is loyal and who has other intentions from each speech.

“Do not be suspicious every time he speaks,” said Papa who deliberately did not mention the name of the person he meant. Because I already know who it is.

We were already in Papa's study, but we kept it as if someone else was listening to us. “He's a person that Papa should suspect as well,” my word gives advice.

“Take it easy. He is stubborn when he has an idea that he thinks is very good. But he is loyal to me. He has proved it,” Papa said calmly. “Again there is Irwan who always reports everything to me. There is also Zach ready to help if I fall into the trap of those who betray.”

“What Papa is not tired of living like this?” I asked while sighing slowly.

She smiles. “The higher your position, the stronger the challenge. Have you forgotten that?” Papa put the pen he was holding into place. “Therefore I say that you are entitled to realize whatever your dreams are for this company. So you can work comfortably, son.”

I nodded in understanding. “Hopefully Rissa can survive with a life as hard as this.”

“What are you worried about? Have you not learned anything from the incident since the beginning of this year? The person with the most money holds the highest power. You can defeat all your enemies with money. So, make sure this company does not go bankrupt in your hands.” Papa smiled meaningfully. “Back to your room. Time is money.”

I was stunned for a moment by Papa's words. Also true. What am I supposed to be afraid of? I have the strongest thing in the world at the moment. Of money. If even colleagues, family, or friends betray me, I can teach them a lesson as long as there is a lot of money.

Paying for Om Irwan services is definitely not cheap. So also with the services of Om Zach who is now known as the most sought after lawyer. But he and Om Oscar remained faithful to work for Papa alone. Alright. I know what I have to do next.

“Hai, dear,” my bro is on the doorstep of the marketing division meeting room. Clarissa was the only person in the room, preparing to enjoy her lunch.

“Hai! Come inside. Grandma leave this for you.” He pointed at one more bag. “Do not get hooked. I agreed to bring this for you just for today.”

I just smiled hearing it. “Wah, this is my favorite food!” seruku saw the contents in the box of supplies. “Portnya a lot. I happen to be very hungry.”

Clarissa conveyed what she had been working on since morning and what we were going to do after lunch. The real thing he doesn't need to do, because I'll find out about it later from Tegar. Then he said a new idea was suitable to increase sales on the weekend. I'm starting to feel sorry we're gonna lose him. Had he not had the effort he had to lead, I would have gladly accepted him as marketing director.

“Why do you see me like that? Is that idea weird?” ask her with a worried tone. “I know I shouldn't have said this.”

“No. The idea was brilliant. I just regret you won't be working here again when I replace Papa,” I said honestly.

“I will work in the same city as you, Hadi. We will also get married and live together. You can ask me anything just like I did to you,” he said casually.

“I'm sorry. Maybe you forgot. I won't talk about company secrets to you once you get out of this place. Nor am I interested in knowing the company secrets of Om Edu.” I explained to him. “Just ask your grandmother if your grandfather ever discussed company affairs with her.”

“Do not talk again.” I glanced at my watch. “Restime is almost over. We have to get back to work in less than five minutes.”

Finally able to finish chapter three of my script, that morning I went to the campus with Dira. So, Pak Sakti just take Adi to school. Dira did not stop talking about the offer that came to him to become an advertising star or a model of a particular product. I'm relieved that his dealings with that rogue company are over. But I don't know what caused so many offers to come.

The most surprising thing was the offer to play a movie. Of course he didn't get a role right away. Dira had to come to follow the scene to know what character he was suited to play. Papa and Mama don't forbid him to do what he wants, so it's Dira who decides for himself whether he'll venture into the role world.

Dira immediately chased after Wendy as soon as we arrived at the campus grounds. I let her be with her friend and head to my department office. There were already several other students who were more senior as well as my age who were sitting in the waiting room. Seeing that there was no Colin among them, I smiled with satisfaction. He must still be struggling with his questionnaire.

My guidance counselor immediately invited me into her room as soon as she arrived. I am grateful that none of his other guidance students came to see him this morning. So, my business with him can be quickly finished. He checked my third chapter quickly, then asked me to come again the following week.

I don't mind that. That chapter was the heaviest in a thesis, so he had to carefully check every single data I displayed. I hope there are no mistakes. Because of one small mistake, it will take me a long time to fix it.

I walked quickly to the parking lot. There's a lot I have to do today so I can focus on improving my script if the lecturer finds a mistake. I ran into a girl as I turned between the shared building and the parking lot. We exchanged glances for a moment, then he immediately turned his body around.

He must have remembered the rules he had to abide by. I should have let him go, but I don't know what prompted me to call his name. Seeing that he did not stop, I called him again. He stopped his steps, then slowly turned his body.

I don't know what happened, I asked him to talk in one place. He frowned. Let alone him, I was also astonished by this action of mine. “Are you not wrong to talk?” tanyakanya.

“I'm not forcing. You can refuse if you don't want to,” I replied lightly.

*******

Meanwhile somewhere~

Mason and Edu walk with a prison officer to a special room reserved for inmates and guests to talk. The man opens the door, Mason invites Edu to enter first.

After thanking the officer, Mason caught up with Edu and sat down by his side. Behind the glass in front of them, Finley was already waiting with a dead red face. Edu just sat down casually, while Mason smiled in satisfaction at the state of the man before him.

“What's calling us, Taylor? Did the news finally reach your ears?” mason asked with a smile still adorning his face.

“That money is my money. You shouldn't have told them,” Finley said furiously.

“Sorry, I don't understand. You owe a lot of people, and then you want to hide behind the status of bankruptcy? That's not fair, Taylor. They deserve their money back. Everyone is equally happy now,” Mason said.

“Then how can I survive after getting out of here? You don't leave a penny for me!” peekik Finley's angry.

“Because that's our goal. I want you to know what it's like when my granddaughter lives alone without a dime to survive.” Mason brought his face to the glass. “I also want to make sure you can no longer pay people to hurt Clarissa.”

“Name Mila, not Clarissa,” protest Finley. “I make sure he won't be with anyone else but me. You don't know where my biggest savings are.”

“Oh, that's the easiest we found.” Mason smiled broadly. “Foster has given everything to us.” Finley's face paled.
