He's The Unaffordable

He's The Unaffordable
Chapter 34 - Suspicious

The thing I look forward to the most in my life is meeting my parents and my entire family. Whoever they are, whatever they are, their social class, I don't care about any of that. I just want to have my own family. It's not the family that loves me today, and then dumps me the next day.

I can't deny that me and that woman named Hannah have a slight resemblance. But me and the man in front of me had absolutely nothing in common physically. Dira who looks like his mother, when laughing will look similar to his father because the structure of their teeth is the same.

What bothered me most was that this man started his story by showing me a picture of his wife who looked like me, the journey they took to lose their daughter, and show me an old passport that can't prove that we have a blood relation. He had no photos of us together.

Anyway how do I know that this is all true? He was alone and no one else could help him state that this photo and passport were true. I even found out a guy likes to carry his long-lost daughter's passport wherever she goes.

Unlike all adults who attend Dira's birthday celebration. They were shocked to see my presence and focused on asking questions that had something to do with me. What is my name, where I grew up, who is my family. Not once that night did they hint that they suspected I was someone they were looking for.

With such a large number of people, they were unlikely to lie. If I ask for proof, I'm sure they have a lot of documentation of my childhood. I'm sure that they still keep a lot of photos or it could be my video or a little girl who looks like me.

Did it ever come to mind in this man that I could be the biological child of a couple who never mentioned that they adopted me? Was he not the slightest bit worried that it would traumatize me with the fact he had just opened? Because I know, that's what Om Edu and Aunt Lindsey were worried about when interrogating me subtly.

“I don't know why you're so sure that I'm your missing son. I grew up in this city and have parents and sisters. My name is Mila Foster, not Mila Meredith Jones. I'm sorry for what happened to you, but again, you're wrong people.” I returned the passport.

“You have family?” asked the man quietly, then he laughed sadly. “Of course. What the hell am I thinking? Why would I assume that you grew up without a family? Ii'm sorry. Are they being nice to you?”

“We are strangers who don't know each other. Sorry, I can't answer that question, too personal. I better get going now. Hope you soon find your daughter.” I put the bag on my shoulder and stood up.

“Do you not believe me? Is that why you don't want to consider what I just told you? I don't know what your family says about you, but they may not be your biological parents. Why don't you do a DNA test to find out the truth?” he said he gave advice.

“A biological parent or not, they are the ones who have been meritorious in raising me. Sorry, I can't hurt the feelings of people who have been so kind to me.” I smile. “Thank you for the tea. Goodbye to.”

“Wait.” I had to stop walking when his hand held my arm. “I've been looking for my daughter for a long time. Really am. I never stopped looking for where he was. I beg. Please, help me so I can move on with my life and stop looking for him. Give me one certainty.” There was a hopeful tone to his voice.

“What do you mean?” tanyaku.

“Follow me to do a DNA test.” Did he not speak wrongly? He who mentioned his wife and son but not his own name, asked me for a DNA test? This man doesn't behave like a father who lost his daughter. He behaves like .. I don't know.

“Wah, wow, wow. Who's this handsome guy, Mila? You guys seem very familiar.” I rolled my eyeballs hearing the sound near me, as well as being relieved that he had interrupted us. Because the man immediately pulled his hand from my arm. “Hai, I'm Reese Foster. And you are?” The girl extended her hand confidently.

“Colton Jones.” The man replied without shaking Reese's hand. Colton Jones's? He turned his head towards the man and woman standing behind Reese with a worried face.

“Reese, please, don't embarrass us. Come on, let's get out of here,” said Bu Foster who held her arm and pulled her to follow him. “Im sorry about my daughter's attitude. We excuse.”

“Wait, Ma. You guys need proof, then I'll give it.” Reese withdrew from her mother. “What is your relationship with Mila?”

I didn't have time for the drama, so I decided to go. Anyway, I don't want this guy to realize that I lied about my family. “You please continue talking. I'm sorry.” I nodded towards Father and Mother Foster before leaving.

“Please think about whatever you want. I don't give a shit. I'm just asking, don't involve me in your family drama anymore. I was a thief, a slacker, a cheat, a teaser, and slept with a lot of men since I was school age.” I looked at Reese seriously. “Are you satisfied now?”

“Wow, Mila.” He laughed in surprise so his grip on my arm loosened. That chance I used to pull my hand and get out of that place. I'm tired of trying to prove I'm a good person in front of people who don't want to believe me.

Stupid jerk. I should have not listened to the man's request. If I go home soon after the movie, I won't see Reese. Oh, dearGod. Will I continue to be cursed by not being able to escape from that woman for the rest of my life? What's my fault with her?

I immediately ran when I saw the elevator door open and people waiting started to get into the elevator. It was fortunate that I was on time and that narrow space still fit for one more person. I saw the ground floor button already on, then I stood quietly.

The elevator door was almost closed when it suddenly opened again and a man appeared in front of us all. Instead of entering, he swept his gaze to look for someone, or rather me. Why else would this man follow me?

For the umpteenth time in my life, I don't like being taller than most people. He found me and got into the elevator. But an alarm immediately went off indicating that the elevator was overloaded. Spontaneous everyone looked towards him.

“Mila,” call her with a face of bleaching. I just stared straight ahead, pretending I didn't know him or my own name.

People started to fret and asked him to come out immediately. Because I was shaking, he finally came out and the elevator door closed. I used the waiting time while ordering an online motorcycle taxi to go home. Arriving on the ground floor, I rushed towards the exit. Sometimes I look back, but the man doesn't seem to follow me.

I was able to breathe a sigh of relief when I arrived at my rented room. The first thing I did was find the nearest empty apartment unit from campus. If anyone follows me, then I need to move to a place where guests will not be able to force their way into the special location of the occupants.

That man couldn't have been my real father. If it were true, I wouldn't stay with him or see him again. Because the girl's photo on the passport made me uncomfortable. The girl's eyes looked blank and her lips were tightly closed as if she was forced to stare at the camera.

I know that face very well. It was me after the woman and man who claimed to be my parents died. When I was living happily with the Foster family, I made a promise to myself. I will not let anyone make me unhappy, even if they are my own biological parents.

So, I had to move to a safer place. The man chased me to the elevator after I said no. Something's wrong here. I don't know what, but my feelings are telling me not to believe everything she said.

Meanwhile in a house~

Dira laughed out loud. “Oh, yes, geez!” He came back laughing. “Ree ... Reese must be in a frenzy right now. Never once has his video been left viral for hours by his agency.” He immediately sat down to get closer to Hadi. “So don't see that? His expression as Brother gave him an ultimatum? Very funny!”

“Yes, I've seen. You are so happy to see your rivals suffer.” Hadi ruffled his sister's hair with anxiety.

“That's because he's been mean to everyone. He deserved to be humiliated like this to give a deterrent effect. So, next time he will think before doing. My agency's messaging room was just up to full of hysterical friends saying watch the viral video.” Dira returned to his original sitting position.

“The generation is stupid too. They always cover up his mistakes so he gets more insolent.” Adi growled annoyed. Hendra immediately reprimanded his youngest son. “Papa hasn't seen how he's acting, anyway. He's obnoxious to it. Brother is always the material of the months.” Hadi and Dira immediately looked at their sister sharply. Adi covered her mouth with her hands. “Uups.”

“There are people who make my daughter as a moon and you never tell me about this?” asked Hendra with fiery eyes.
