He's The Unaffordable
Chapter 46 - Betrayal

*Hadi*

Clarissa Raina's. The little girl who had only been a memory in my head and memory. Slowly turning into a young woman who did not stop giving me surprises. I can't believe she's the same girl that Colin brought in first and called her a boyfriend.

He faced his tantric foster sister calmly, but he could be very firm on Colin. The way he faced the man who claimed to be his real father was also beyond my expectations. I think he'll be happy because he finally met his biological parents, it turns out he can be careful, not carried away by emotions.

What kind of life has he been through while he's out there? Was his life so hard that he couldn't trust anyone easily? Seeing her cry for the first time, I'm not surprised she doesn't want anyone to see her tears. He even covered himself up from me earlier.

But what I saw before my eyes was more shocking than all that. He could defend himself from a man of greater stature and muscularity than him. His movements were nimble and measured so easily he dropped two people in a short period of time.  It was like seeing a movie scene in front of my own eyes.

I tried to be as calm as possible so that he did not panic when the car stopped us. But the fact that my heart was pounding so hard made me have trouble thinking what I should do first. Being in a situation like this alone is better than there are others I have to protect.

It turns out he can protect himself. He had to touch my hand to attract my attention was a sign that I was daydreaming from being fascinated with his martial skills. Movement after movement that he did not carelessly, but was done systematically. Did he study at a certain college?

Not wanting to lose to him, I tried to hit down more men than him. I didn't study martial arts specifically, but I knew how to protect myself. Because the purpose of Papa asking me to learn is to take care of myself, not the competition.

My heart was pounding so fast because the adrenaline made me even more alarmed by the quick movements of those who were trying to hit me. But I'm faster than them. Their actions were all very strange. If they just wanted to take Mila, why would they beat us up like they wanted to kill us?

Their movements got haphazard as soon as I saw I was not an easy opponent. I purposely let them out of breath and studied their movements before hitting and replying to their attacks.

I was so focused on fending off the swing of the two-man hitter who attacked me blindly that when someone patted me on the shoulder from behind, I almost aimed the hitter at him. Turns out he was the one Papa told us to help us.

“Go, Sir. We'll be taking over from here.” He swung his leg as the man in front of me tried to hit me on the head. The kick hit the side of his head so hard that he fell down on the asphalt. “Quick, Sir!” his insistence.

A car stopped by our side, he helped get rid of the rest of the bad guys who were trying to block me and Mila from getting into the vehicle. The man behind the steering wheel immediately drove forward the car as soon as I closed the door by my side.

“How about my stuff?” ask Mila worried. He looked behind us.

“They will take him to the house of Aunt Lindsey.” I tidied my clothes back, then turned to look at the man sitting in front. “Shouldn't anyone follow Mila wherever she goes? Why is he not there today?”

There's a man Om Irwan sent to look after Mila on Papa's orders. Not just Mila, for Dira and Adi as well. Ever since that guy named Colton or Finley, Papa was worried that someone would try to keep us away from Mila again. The bodyguard for Dira and Adi is to prevent Vivaldo and Nora from hurting them, no matter what their next plan is.

“They betrayed, Sir,” replied the man briefly.

I don't believe in my own hearing. I was so calm that the man would help us overcome the eight men, it turned out that after a while of fighting them, he did not appear either. I didn't expect that there would be a traitor among Om Irwan's confidants. “What happened to him?”

“She's been cleared.” I gulped heavily hearing it. That's kind of a scary punishment. How Om Irwan can kill people's lives without being discovered, I won't ask. That's his business with his confidants.

“People who follow me?” asked Mila confusedly. He looked at me and the driver in turn. “What does it mean, Hadi?”

“Papa asks for someone to be placed to be your bodyguard until we are all convinced that the man named Finley is no longer a threat. We are sure that she has a close relationship with your disappearance as a child.”

“I can take care of myself. Don't worry.”

“Do not worry?” I looked at him in disbelief. Was he not aware of what had just happened? “They used a hammer made of iron earlier. Do you think they'll use the same method when they'll kidnap you next time? No, Mila. It could be that they will use firearms and you will not be able to dwell.”

His face that had originally looked confident turned deathly pale. “Who is that guy actually? I didn't have anything wrong with her, then why didn't she just let go of me? The woman he loves is dead, what else does she want?” ask Mila wonder.

All the family members in the house rushed out of the house to welcome us. The faces of Aunt Lindsey and Aunt Claudia were already filled with tears. Someone must have told them what happened to us.

I saw Mama running towards me and immediately hugged my body tightly. She was crying in my arms. I rubbed his back, trying to help him calm down. I used to make fun of Mama overreacting, but this time I wouldn't do that because I realized that what we just passed could be life threatening.

Aunt Lindsey invited us all to her house. The waiters immediately served me drinks and food and Mila. I touched my stomach and realized I had not had lunch. Mama helped fill my plate, then gave it to me with a mountain of rice with various side dishes and vegetables on it.

“What happened? Did they say anything about who did all this?” ask Aunt Lindsey to worry.

“One of them mentioned about my father wanting me to go home,” Mila replied slowly. Only he could ask the man who pulled him out of the car. I don't need to ask, because I know who was behind the incident.

I'm so grateful they waited until we finished eating to ask about it. This conversation will last a very long time, while I'm already very hungry. Fighting with them drains the rest of my energy. I let Mila answer all the questions and I focused on enjoying the snacks.

Moments later, a car entered the yard. The door of the room opened and Papa stood there with a worried face. He immediately looked for me, then sighed in relief seeing that I was fine. He immediately approached me to check on me.

“You okay?” ask Papa. I nodded slowly. He patted me on the cheek with a smile adorning his face. “They've all been taken to the police station. I'm sure they won't admit who told them to do all this. But they will all be imprisoned for a long time.”

“What do you mean, Hendra? So, my grandson's life will continue to be threatened and we can't do anything?” ask Aunt Lindsey to panic.

“Lindsey, we will try our best to make the man pay for all his crimes. We just need to be a little patient. I promise we'll find a way to get back at him soon. We'll all take good care of Clarissa.”

Aunt Lindsey and Aunt Claudia held Mila's hand and looked at her worriedly. I understand how they feel. But Papa has a point. Finley must be handled with care. He managed to keep Mila away from us for so many years, then that meant he was not a random man.

“Today should be a happy day.” Aunt Darla stood up from her seat. “Do not let the incident ruin all our plans.”

“Ah, yes. You're right!” Aunt Lindsey stood up, as did Aunt Claudia. They walked out of the room.

I looked at Mama in surprise, but I followed her by standing up as well. We're heading for the family room. As the waiter opened the door came Charlotte's scream from inside the room. Mila looked towards Aunt Lindsey and Aunt Claudia before letting go of their hands and approaching her brother.

When I was in the doorway. Blood rippled from my head all over my body. Charlotte was standing at the side of the table where there was a picture of Om Matias and Aunt Abby smiling happily. It was as if they were welcoming their long lost daughter. Charlotte's words finally touched my heart, too. Welcome back, Clarissa. The two brothers hugged each other while crying.

A dozen years apart, the family has finally reunited. Even though their parents are not around, I'm sure they watched their two daughters meeting back from up there. Finley Taylor's. He will pay a very high price for this evil act.
