He's The Unaffordable
Chapter 114 - First Session

“We call Clarissa Raina to come forward as a witness,” said a man sitting behind the public prosecutor's desk.

With her head raised, Clarissa stood up from her seat towards the witness stand. I saw Aunt Lindsey and Charlotte looking worried from their seats. But Clarissa did not disappoint. He recounted what happened during his captivity without trepidation, also answering question after question calmly.

Om Edu's team of lawyers managed to help him to know what the real court was like. According to Charlotte's story, they interrogate with even nonsensical questions that Finley's legal counsel might ask.

That's what I'm seeing in front of me. There were as many silly questions asked by them as if Clarissa and Finley had known each other for a long time. With Clarissa's track record of accompanying older men on walks, they use it to pressure her into claiming to like Finley and that she persuaded him to marry her.

Some of the people who attended the court laughed so the judge had to knock on the hammer to ask them to calm down. Finley is handsome, good-looking and tall, and has beautiful green eyes that can sedate anyone to be attracted to him. But he's too old for Clarissa. There is no evidence that they have ever dated.

Legal advisers showed CCTV footage of Clarissa and Finley sitting together at a restaurant. But the public prosecutor immediately responded by showing CCTV footage of Finley first approaching Clarissa at a cinema in the same mall where the restaurant was located.

After Clarissa's turn, they called Big Brother to sit on the witness stand. They question her relationship with Clarissa which the public prosecutor immediately cut, because the relationship she and Clarissa had nothing to do with the crime that Finley committed.

Sister's testimony is needed to tell the two assaults she had with Clarissa while they were in the car. Evidence from the workshop regarding the damage his car had sustained and information from the hospital during his treatment was also included in the evidence. What is undeniable is the CCTV footage of traffic belonging to the transport service.

I could only close my eyes when Brother and Clarissa were fighting people with iron bats in the footage. Feeling the touch of my hand, I looked up. Colin who was sitting by my side looked at me worriedly. I nodded slowly as a signal that I was okay.

Finley's Legal Counsel sought to convict by saying that his client did not send the men. Hadi's brother also could not prove that the person who attacked them was Finley's man. To prove this, after Brother's testimony, the public prosecutor called one of the attackers recorded on CCTV.

“Finally, today passed too.” said Om Giovanni who invited us all to dinner at his house. The waiters served afternoon snacks while waiting for the food to ripen.

“I didn't expect they would use Clarissa's secret work to corner her. Where is the logic, a girl who whines for marriage is even held captive in a house? There were many guards surrounding the house. If they just eloped, he wouldn't hire that many big guys. Especially to kidnap Clarissa from Hadi's car,” said Aunt Darla.

“They just do the job, baby. Although they know that their client is guilty, they are obliged to prove that he deserves leniency. They knew that Finley would not be able to escape the law. All evidence incriminates him.” Om Giovanni holds his wife's hand. “There are important things we need to tell them. How about we just focus on the fun stuff?”

“I agree.” Aunt Lindsey sighed loudly. “I can no longer discuss this case. My granddaughter has testified, so I want us to leave everything behind.”

“What fun you want to say?” ask Aunt Qiana to know. He's laughing a little. “Do not say you will have another child.” Our laughter exploded hearing that.

“Hey, hey, hey. What are you doing, Qiana? It was a disaster, not pleasant news,” protest Om Giovanni. “Our age is too old to have another child.”

All the adults were talking at the same time so we, the kids, didn't know who to listen to. Aunt Darla finally broke up and everyone stopped talking. Aunt Qiana and Aunt Lindsey still chuckled.

“Brady and Daphina will be celebrating their wedding anniversary. So, they invited us all to attend. Hotel rooms will they provide, as well as food while we are there.” The atmosphere was immediately silent at the announcement. Aunt Darla turned towards Om Giovanni. “We both agreed to pay for round-trip airfare we all.”

Money is not a problem for the adults in this room. But their reaction to free travel was not much different from that of ordinary people. I laughed when I saw the change in expression of their faces that were not originally excited to be full of life.

“I'm not sure I'll be able to do it, Hadi,” Colin said stopping my steps. What are they talking about? “I am not a Mama who is diligent in administrative matters. He is also good at speaking on behalf of Uncle. But I don't have that ability in the slightest.”

“You lead a group of people playing the same game as you. You always gather together on Saturday night to fight against other groups. I know you and all of them since you guys haven't had a level up to make your character respected by other players. And you go low by saying that you don't have the ability?” jejek Kak Hadi's.

“Talk this with Dira. He will definitely give the same opinion as me,” said Big Brother again adding.

“What to talk about?” I finally decided to let my presence know and not steal any more hears. The two of them turned towards me.

“Well, he's here. You can talk now.” Brother stood up, then walked past me to get back inside the house.

I looked towards Colin. He invited me to sit by his side. “Hadi invites me to follow him to Uncle's office on Tuesday.”

“Oh, yes? What business?” I was interested in that topic.

“He asked me to be his assistant. When I graduated, he advised me to apply for your company. Then when the time comes, he will appoint me as assistant director.” Colin took my hand and held it. Ever since we were together again, she loved touching me. Things rarely happen when we haven't broken up.

“I'm sure you can do it. All this time you were best friends, faced with common problems, and the breakup of our relationship did not affect your friendship. What makes you doubt?” many confused.

“Honey, your family company is not a small company. I can already imagine what Hadi will do every day when he becomes scared later. As an assistant, I'll be just as busy as him. I don't want to give a lot of time just for work. Plus, people will assume I'm privileged because I'm your girlfriend.”

“Kak Hadi does not ask you to directly work at Papa's company, but through the selection path like other applicants do. So don't think about what people will say. You decide first what you want. About what people say, dog barking caravan passes.” I shook my head while smiling.

“About busyness, Papa can always make time for us. I'm sure you can too. I promise I won't complain to myself. We will talk about this together if it has become a problem,” I said adding. Colin smiled meaningfully. “What's up?”

“You changed. You are now wiser,” he said in a proud tone. But I don't like hearing that.

“You mean, I wasn't wise before? So?” I pulled my hand from her and walked towards the door. “You are annoying indeed.”

“Sayang.” Colin followed me, then I sped up my pace. “Why are you so angry so quickly? I don't mean it.”

I opened the side door of the house and walked quickly in the corridor. When I turned right at the end of the corridor, I saw Kak Hadi talking to someone. I immediately stopped my steps as soon as I saw who was covered so that it blocked my vision.

“Honey, listen,” says Colin. I immediately covered her mouth with my hand and pushed her back into the corridor. He looked at me confused.

“Sstt ...” I put my free index finger in front of my lips. “Do not be noisy. I want to hear what they're talking about.”
