He's The Unaffordable
Chapter 14 - Ended

I have never felt this much humiliation and betrayal in my life. At least not from my family and those closest to me. The girl who had captured Colin's attention from me also managed to attract my father and mother. How could they not be angry or disappointed with Colin's attitude of bringing another girl to my birthday celebration?

After everyone got to know Mila, then they remembered me and what we were celebrating at this moment. Mama brought a tart cake with a small candle burning on it to me. When they sang the lyrics asking me to blow out the candles, I did. Cheers and applause filled the room.

Since the peak event was over, people took food and sat in the available places. Wendy and Vikal sat together and had a great time chatting while I was still filling food onto the plate. I turned around and stood face to face with Om Zach.

He invited me to sit on the stairs because all the chairs were filled. “You can tell me where and when you want me to end his life.”

I'm laughing a little. “Om a lawyer, how could Om even plan to finish someone off?” I just don't believe it. At least, there was still one person on my side.

“You are my only niece, so I will do anything to protect you. And what the young man did was outrageous.” Om Zach brought his head closer. “Have you guys secretly broken up?”

“No.” I shook my head slowly. “As far as I know, we are fine and plan to get married next year. Nothing changed, until Friday last week she showed up with the girl. He said he was his girlfriend and they were acquainted in America.”

“If you haven't spoken yet, you'd better take him for a word. He came with a girl to your show and introduced her to everyone as his girlfriend. Your relationship is over from his side.” Om Zach's words were right and I had to refrain from hugging him and crying loudly.

“Good, Om.” I obey. Everyone closest to us already knew that she had a boyfriend and it wasn't me. It is time for us to talk.

I saw Colin walking towards the serving table. Mila was sitting with Aunt Lindsey and Qiana. This is a good time to talk. I wasn't sure I would be strong enough to contact him and ask him to meet somewhere.

“I'll put my empty plate on the table. Is it okay to sit here alone?” I stood up, then tidied up my skirt.

“Let me put this plate down. You must want to talk to him, ‘kan? Go.” Om Zach took the plate from my hand and walked towards the table, while I approached Colin.

“Follow me into the living room,” I said to him and immediately walked towards the room I meant. Before anyone sees us, it's better that I don't stand around for long.

I sat down on one of the chairs so he couldn't sit by my side. If I sat on one of the three-seat couches, I was sure he would choose to sit next to me. I want us to talk seriously and to be able to do that, I have to keep my distance from him.

Hearing the door open, then closed again, I stood up my seat. My heart was pounding hard and I could feel both my hands trembling. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down.

I don't know if I'd be strong enough to do this, break off the relationship that's been in since we were kids. No other man has ever been in my life, only Colin. But he made his choice. And that girl is not me.

“I see you didn't invite your agency's one friends.” Colin sat in one of the chairs in front of me. He put a glass of orange juice in front of me. My favorite drink. “You are indeed different from your other friends who like to throw fancy parties.”

“I asked you to be here not to discuss my birthday invitation guest.” I am grateful that my voice that came out was quite stable and did not shake. He shut his mouth tightly. My chest felt tight because my heart beat was getting faster.

“I was surprised to see you coming with him,” I said quietly. “I thought you would think about my feelings and come with your family. Today should be my happy day. You bring the person who is the center of attention. And now they forget me.

“Sorry, if I have made you angry or disappointed so choose another. I also apologize for the sixteen years we were together, I always troubled you. But you are free. You no longer have to deal with my childish attitude. I'm sure Mila will be happy with you, just like you have made me so happy. Goodbye, Colin.”

“Dira,” he said with a vibrating voice. He's clearing slowly. “I'm sorry. Our relationship ended this way. I didn't mean to hurt you. It's not your fault. One day, you will understand and forgive me. I pray that you soon find your happiness too.” He returned slowly. “Goodbye.”

I smiled thinly and nodded. He stood up, then wordlessly left the room. When the door closed again and I was alone, I let the tears fall. I took a deep breath to reduce the tightness in my chest, which came out precisely the sound of sobbing. So hurt.

Tears drenched my face, dripping down on my hands that were on my lap. Without caring about my makeup, I cried sobbing.

For months, I wish she would give me the gift I wanted on my birthday. A ring signifying our official relationship as fiancee. I knew that I didn't need that to convince everyone of our relationship. Colin will definitely keep his promise.

But I understand now. He did not give the ring to me, not for money, lazy, or forgotten reasons. If he really loved me, then I would be the person he always thought of. Just like I felt for her. But the little Colin who proposed to me had become a young man. His feelings for me must have changed, too.

He had already chosen another better girl, who was more worthy of being his companion. Like it or not, I have to accept it. I'm no longer the girl who fills her heart, so I should also try to get her out of my heart. It's time to let him go.

Hearing the sound of the door opening, I quickly turned my face and wiped my tears. I don't want anyone to see me like this. But no matter how much I tried, tears did not stop coming out soaking my face.

“Dira.” Someone touched my shoulder. I recognized the voice, so I raised my face and saw Om Zach kneeling before me.

“Om!” I immediately hugged him tightly. “I love him. I love her so much. But he doesn't love me. I'm not getting married next year, Om. All my plans failed. I won't marry the person I love so much.”

Meanwhile somewhere not far~

Mila was sitting uncomfortably surrounded by the women who were staring at her strangely. One of them even shed tears when he first met her. He was ready people would scold him, stare at him sharply, or even Dira would throw him out of this house. But the welcome he got was just the opposite.

Dira shook his hand graciously, not looking disappointed or hurt by his presence with his fiancee. His family also welcomed them well, even to the point of being moved. They invited him to sit down and eat together and asked about his parents and family. Just like Hadi did.

“So, you live in America and this is your first trip to Indonesia?” lindsey asked to know. She looked at her husband with a frown.

“Iya, Aunt. Colin wanted to show the country where he lives, so I came to celebrate Valentin Day with him at once,” Mila replied as reassuringly as possible. Hadi who was sitting not far from him rolled his eyeballs, but he ignored her.

“Sorry, if this question sounds rude. They're biological parents or lift?” lindsey asked carefully.

“Tante right. The question was too personal, so, sorry, I can't answer it.”
