Colin's words continued to ring in my ears until it disrupted my sleep. I don't usually wake up earlier than Mom. He was surprised to see that I was awake when he intended to call me for sports together. But I just laughed at him.
Should I involve Papa in my dealings with all those basket-eyed jurors? I knew they were just doing their duty, but asking me to take off the clothes in front of everyone was intolerable anymore. Most painfully they smiled as if they had stripped me naked with their eyes.
But when am I like this? I can't continue to rely on Papa in my every problem. I won't be able to come to him again after Colin and I are officially married. It's the same that I'm not ready to live independently, independent of my parents.
“What's up, baby? Is there something on my face?” said Papa who checked his cheek.
I'm laughing a little. “No, Pa.” I continued to bite my side bread.
“Then what makes you see me continue? Is there anything you want to say?” ask Papa again. She and Mom exchanged looks.
Alright. There's no harm in involving Papa. After all, I can't solve problems on my own, not with a problem this big. “Several audition times, the jury asked me to do something inappropriate, Pa.”
That one sentence was able to draw Papa's attention completely to me, as well as Mama and my two brothers. “What did they do to you?” ask Papa with a serious face.
“A-me, they mentioned about the video and asked me un-to take off my clothes.” I was suddenly nervous and their request sounded ridiculous when I said it to myself in front of my family.
“In front of all the other crew?” ask Papa with a stifled voice. I nodded my head.
“Oh, dear.” Mom touched my hand and looked at me worriedly.
“It has happened a few times and you just told me now?” papa protest.
“I think I'll be able to handle it myself. Pa, I'm getting married. I can't depend on Papa continue,” I said trying to explain.
“Until you or I die, I'm still your papa. Whatever your marital status may be, you're still my children. If not us as a family that helps each other, to whom else do I and you expect help?” papa said sadly. “Asking for help does not mean you are immature or not independent, dear.”
“I'm sorry, Pa,” I said slowly. My chest hurts to realize that I made a mistake. I hurt my family. I should have listened to Colin's advice.
“Do Vikal know which judges at the auditions treated you badly?” ask Papa. I nodded slowly. “OK. I'll take care of it. You just calm down. Whatever the reason they did that, they had crossed the line. The court has decided who is guilty and paid for their actions. It is not appropriate for people to continue harassing you. You are the victim, not the culprit.”
Mom and Dad hugged me before I got in the car. I felt more and more guilty seeing the sadness on their faces. I promised myself I wouldn't do this again. My parents deserve to know whatever I'm going through out there.
“Do not think, Brother. Papa's only gonna be mad for a minute. I understand why Brother did that. I also sometimes want to be a hero to myself,” Adi said comforting me.
“Thank you. How're you? Are you sure you can pass the school gate by yourself?” manyworry. It had been a few days that he asked Pak Sakti not to take him to class again. He had already dared to go through the gates of his own school.
“Yakin, Brother. My friends can, I can't.” She smiles.
Had Laras known what the repercussions of his actions would have been, he would not have been able to sleep quietly in the holding room. Not only students, but teachers and their families are trying to stay steadfast from the events that have claimed the lives of their students, friends, children, and families. No one would have ever thought that the person who was still with them in the morning was lifeless in the afternoon or evening.
Pak Sakti received a call as we were on our way to my campus. It must be from Papa or Mama. Our workers are not allowed to answer incoming calls while driving, except from us, their employers. Seeing him turn the car around, I was more and more astonished.
“What's up, Sir?” my many. “Where are we going?”
Moments before I reached my destination, I was already suspicious of where Papa asked Pak Sakti to take me. My suspicions were proven once the car entered the police station where Laras was being held. Did the girl ask Papa to bring us together? Not likely.
Papa and Brother immediately stood up as soon as I approached those who were in the waiting room. Om Zach came over and invited us to follow him. I looked at them all in wonder. What does Papa and Brother have to do with Laras? Reese's not being held here, so I know this must have something to do with the girl.
We entered the room where Laras was with parents and a man I did not know. The people I didn't expect were Colin and his parents. Why is he here? I'm approaching him soon. His face looks tired. What the hell's been going on?
“Finally, I can make you come here,” said papa Laras with a satisfied face. “I told you, the problem will get heavier if you underestimate me.”
“Nobody underestimates anyone in this room, Sir,” said Om Zach. The man looked towards Papa. When he thought Papa was going to open his mouth, he was wrong. Om Zach who will be an extension of Papa's tongue whenever there is a problem related to the law.
“You'll let someone else talk to you?” The man laughed.
I looked towards Laras who kept his head down. Both his parents and the man who was with them put on a serious face. I couldn't ask or talk, so I tried to understand what was going on by listening to them.
“I hope you know what the penalties are for false reporters, Laras. I won't sue you if you admit what really happened. But if I unlock your secret, then your already heavy demands will get heavier.” Om Zach looked at Laras seriously.
He just kept quiet. “Do you think you can threaten my daughter? The police will investigate the case fairly. So, everyone involved should be punished as well. This is not just a fault of Laras.” Papa Laras looked at Om Zach and Papa sharply.
“Police will conduct a fair investigation. If the sentence for Laras is reduced, then everyone knows that something is wrong in this case. His parents paid the police, for example,” Om Zach said calmly.
The man smiled. “The officers are people of integrity. They don't take money from anyone. Precisely because they worked well they managed to find the person who cooperated with my daughter in that unfortunate accident.” The man looked towards Colin.
Whahuh? Colin's working with Laras? What is this bullshit?
“Laras, anything you want to say?” ask Om Zach. “Why was Colin arrested this morning from his residence? What did you tell the police?”
“He only told the truth. That young man has forced my daughter to commit that crime,” replied his father. Barrel just kept quiet with his head down.
I don't get it. What the hell's going on? Why was Colin involved in this case? He was arrested by the police this morning? What has he done? What did Laras say until my boyfriend got involved? Didn't he say he was sorry? Why did he make things even more difficult?
“Laras, are you going to let someone else answer the question addressed to you? Is this how you make up a story to get Colin involved? Did your father force you to give false testimony?” tanya Om Zach. Barrel is still.
“So, have we been able to talk about a deal?” said the man who had just been silent on the side of Papa Laras. “I'm their attorney who will represent Laras in this case.”
“I will happily represent Colin, but I already know that he is innocent.” Om Zach glanced at Colin who was getting pale. “I need proof so you guys dragged him to the police station today and smeared his good name.”
“We have submitted the evidence to the police,” their legal counsel replied casually.
“You must have saved his death. I need to see it,” urges Om Zach.
“The proof is a video. Please see for yourself on their computer.” The man challenged Om.
“Good.” Om Zach looked towards Baras. “I've tried so that this problem can be solved well. The secret remains the secret and the true is revealed. But you forced me to take this path.” He took something out of his bag.
For the first time, Laras lifted his head and saw the object Om had placed on the table. I looked at him confused. Why would Om put his phone on the table?
