He's The Unaffordable
Chapter 198 - Ready to Service

*Colin*

Turns out I haven't been able to breathe quietly after finishing the thesis. I still have to upload my scientific work to the university page, pay and apply for graduation, then I can take a little breath.

Until Mama reminded me of my marriage to Dira. I have to take off my suit, get my hair straight and take care of my skin. My mother would not listen to my protest. As a real man, grooming was the thing I avoided the most. But I can't fight.

When Mama asked Lily and I to pick up the family at the airport, I didn't expect that they were Grandpa and Grandma. My biggest surprise was seeing them finally visit Indonesia. They are hard workers who do not want to waste time on vacation. They have a lot of money, but never go for a walk.

The atmosphere in their city was still under minus and snowfall occasionally fell. So, they are very happy to be able to escape from their thick clothes and enjoy the tropical temperature in Jakarta. Because I have no other activities, then I brought them to visit many tourist attractions. We visited various objects in Bali for three days, then the next three days in Central Java, then we went home.

Grandpa and Grandma were very happy with our trip. They plan their next arrival in the fall. I glanced at Lily who should be their guide later. I wouldn't have been on vacation that long if I was working.

I was adding food to my plate when Uncle Hendra approached me and asked me to follow him. We were at their house to gather with our whole family ahead of the wedding the next day.

“You know I love my daughter very much,” Uncle said as he sat on one of the couches in the living room. He pointed at the chair in front of him.

I gulped heavily, then sat down and placed the dishes on the table. “Do not worry, Uncle. I promise I will take good care of Dira and make her happy.”

“If you hurt him again like before—” he said with a cold look.

“It won't happen, Uncle,” I said quickly. “I'll always talk about everything with Dira before deciding anything.”

“Don't disappoint me, Colin. I could've taken him back from you, if you dared to hurt him a little. Do you understand?” he said firmly. I nodded according.

Our marriage went well. Everyone present is happy with us. I can't remember anything other than Dira being so beautiful in her white dress. Even though she doesn't dress up like she did when she was a model or an advertising star, I prefer her makeup to be what it is. I'm a really lucky young man.

All the fatigue after a nearly one-week trip with Grandpa and Grandma finally made his body give up. I fell asleep in my hotel bed as soon as I finished my bath. Things that make me ashamed of myself. How could I fall asleep on the first night of my status changing from fiance to husband?

But Dira doesn't dispute that. He looked happy when we had dinner together. We didn't eat as much as we needed during the reception. People don't stop congratulating. All we could enjoy was dinner. Cakes and other treats on the table we could not touch.

“Honey, do you need a household assistant?” ask me after we finish eating. He looked at me with his big eyes. “I know you haven't done that since you were born, so I don't mind if we hire two or three people in the apartment.”

“You're serious? Financing people who work for us is not cheap.” He tidied the empty plate into one. “Let me bear their salary. You finance something else.”

“No. We've been talking about this. I bear all our living expenses. You save your money for unexpected needs. Think of it as an old-age savings,” I said refused. His face turned sullen. “Financing that worker is not a hard thing, dear. I still have savings and once I work, we have money every month.”

“I don't want to burden you. We don't have any domestic assistants. How will you meet all our needs alone? I should also help, not just spend your hard-earned money,” he said slowly.

“How about this? I'll ask for your help if our expenses have exceeded my monthly income. Okay?” tanyaku gave a suggestion. He immediately agreed.

The first thing that made me take a deep breath when entering our apartment was the pile of gifts in the living room. I could not see the sofa, the table, let alone the television because of the gifts that were piled up. Will we be condemned if some of these items are sold?

Dira just laughed as we opened one by one. We record the name of each person who gives a gift without mentioning the name of the item. Dira plans to repay each gift through attending and bringing gifts at their family wedding.

By nightfall, we had not finished opening all the gifts. I complained softly when our apartment doorbell rang. I walked to the door to open it.

“Help comes!!” charlotte's cheer soon entered the apartment, followed by Wyatt, Clarissa, Hadi, Adi, Lily, even our parents.

All the gifts were completed in just two hours. We did it after dinner together. I should have invited them earlier, so we didn't have any trouble working on it alone.

Almost a month after our wedding, I attended the graduation ceremony in the university auditorium. Even though I already have a wife, I still invite my parents to accompany me. Dira did not want to steal the role that my parents had been doing in supporting my education.

With a sense of pride, I see Hadi progressing as an exemplary graduate of our generation. He graduated faster with a higher accumulative grade than all the graduates he graduated with us. I turned to his parents and Aunt Zahara was seen wiping her cheeks with a tissue.

The most thrilling thing was at the time when we were all asked to stand up and hear the song “Padamu Negeri” that shook my heart. After serving for the family, I am now ready to serve the many people around me. Ja. I learned this high not only for myself, but also for my country.

Even if I am a foreigner and do not forget let alone abandon my origins, I will love the land where my wife and my best friend were born. After all I live and grow up in this country, not in America.

Since the three of us graduated on the same day, the family forced us to celebrate in one place. Hadi's home garden is an option. Dira is very happy to spend one day at his family home. We did not tell many people, but the invitations present filled the house and grounds.

Me, Adi, Lily, and Diah came out as the second champions in the game tournament we participated in. So, I was not surprised to see that there were many people I knew through the competition attending my show. It must have been Adi and Diah. They just smiled meaningfully at me.

“If you are not careful, I will start to think that you are a couple. Wherever you go, you're always the two of you, my god” while giving Diah a glass of juice.

“We are indeed a couple, Colin,” Adi said casually. They exchanged looks.

“In-game pairs don't count.” I rolled my eyeballs.

“I'm still in school, it's not time to date,” Adi explained.

“I'm still healing heartbreak, it's not time to date,” said Diah would not lose. “Again, Colin, people will call me a pedophile, if I approach a minor. It would be different if Adi and I were like.” They grated their glass lips while smiling.

“So, throw away your strange thoughts,” Adi concluded.

“Ahh, it seems my dear lost arguing again with my sister and Diah,” said Dira who hugged my waist. “Ignore him. My husband does like to think strangely.” Adi and Diah laughed, then left us.

“Why don't we just bet, baby? We prove whose opinion is right,” said I challenge him. “Adi likes Diah, and vice versa.”

“OK. I'm not afraid.” We shook hands as a sign of agreement.

Hearing my name being called, we turned to the direction the voice came from. Aunt, ah, I mean, Mama Zahara called us to approach them. Hadi and Clarissa stood there as well. Everyone wanted to take a picture with the three of us.

I am happy to see all my family and friends laughing, especially my wife. I hope I can keep making him happy. I don't know what will happen in our lives in the future, I won't betray him again. I wouldn't do anything without discussing it first. He will be the person I trust and trust the most.
