I still can't believe Laras could do that. She was angry with me, but she was intent on hurting my sister instead. How could he not think twice about seeing the school children who had just come out of that gate? They are innocent.
Colin and Lily were also almost doomed because of her actions. I don't know what would have happened to me just like I lost Colin so soon. We just made up after parting ways due to a misunderstanding. I don't want to part with him anymore.
Every night I have nightmares. I can only cry alone and try to cope without involving my family and loved ones. They each have their own problems. But I'm sure, just like my video went viral, this dream will pass. I just need time to forgive myself.
Reese's actions that provoked Laras, it wasn't my fault. Laras' decision to trust Reese without confirming the information first with me was not my idea. Then Laras used his car to hit Adi, not because of me. It was all their own decisions and ideas.
Even though I didn't talk about what was in my head with my two brothers, I'm sure they knew that I still felt guilty. I love being able to talk to them every night before going to bed. Our new habit of getting a good night's sleep.
My mom and dad are cold. I don't know what happened, neither did Brother and Adi. But we are sure they will make up soon. The problems we experienced must have kept the relationship between them heated up. Which parent can bear to see his children do not stop being targeted by bad people.
We were walking towards the restaurant of Adi's choice when a woman mentioned Papa's name. I turned my head and saw someone holding Kak Hadi's hand. I don't know that woman. Judging from Big Brother's facial expression, he also had no idea who he was.
“Sorry, Aunt. You wrong people,” said Kak Hadi while pulling his hand back.
“Oh. I'm sorry.” The woman looked at Big Brother's face intently. “You are very similar to him. But seeing you still this young, yes, I was wrong people.” He looked towards me and Adi. “Ng, a-I'll go. Again, I'm sorry.”
The three of us exchanged looks. What a strange woman. Big Brother's face is not that similar to Papa's. Can't he tell the difference between a grown man and a young man? But the woman's face looked familiar. Where have I seen him?
“You can remove your glasses and mask. No one will bother you even if they know you here,”, said Kak Hadi after we sat at a table in the restaurant. I obey.
The waiter standing next to our table left after taking down our order. Adi pulls out his phone and gets busy himself with his online games. I looked around us and was grateful that there was no one I knew in this restaurant.
“According to you guys, did that woman look familiar?” ask Hadi slowly. Adi shakes.
“I felt that way earlier. But I don't know where I've seen it,” I replied honestly.
Big brother nodded slowly, then got busy with his own thoughts. “Maybe she's a woman who once liked Papa or was close to him. Until he misrecognizes me.”
“Can be. I don't like this, Brother. I know that Papa deserves a past. But I don't like the way he looks at you. She's like a woman in love,” I said uncomfortably. “Surely he once liked Papa.”
“You're jealous?” god Sister. I'm pouting. “Take it easy. Papa wouldn't be tempted by a woman like that. Mama is much prettier than she is. One more thing, Papa love dies to Mama.”
I sighed softly. “Hopefully me and Colin didn't encounter the same problem as them. Papa and Mama both have strange fans.” Brother and Adi laughed.
“Forget it happened. Don't let him take away your appetite,” Brother said again.
His words are right too. I don't know that woman, why would I let her fill my head? After all Papa and Mama can maintain their relationship well. There were already many people trying to separate them, thankfully, they still survived.
We went home after dinner. But Brother asked our permission to stop by for a moment at Clarissa's house. Of course we don't mind. Half-run, Brother entered the house and we waited in the car. When we go inside, we go home a little longer. Charlotte won't let me go home without talking first.
He looked tangled with messy hair and black shadows under his eyes. I laughed at her unusual appearance. He was struggling with a questionnaire that had to be spread out and carefully processed in order to get a conclusion to answer the main question on his proposal.
Colin and Brother are very different. Brother just relaxed working on his script, although he remained serious. Colin just had to be desperate to finish on time. I shouldn't have told Hadi about Colin's plan. Brother must still focus on helping Papa in the office, while Colin advanced the trial first.
“Sorry then no use,” complained Colin.
“Sleep, baby. There is still tomorrow to continue your research. If you don't sleep, neither do I,” I said half-threatening. He finally relented by standing up and lying on his bed. I haven't said good night, she's asleep.
The next day, I asked Om Zach for help on a visit. I can't do it alone like I did when I visited Reese. This second girl is different. We were once friends and every evil word that came out of his mouth could still hurt me.
“You sure you want to do this?” ask Zach again. I nodded slowly. “This girl has killed many people. He won't hesitate to hurt you, baby.”
“I know, Om. But I need to do this.” I stared at the door to the holding room without hesitation. He nodded in understanding, then gave a signal to the guarding officer.
The door opened, and I could see the window on the right side of the room. The officer who accompanied us invited me to sit down. I followed and Om Zach stood by my side. The door in the room in front of us opened, and Laras entered with a policewoman.
He looked at me intently, but did not refuse to sit in front of me. There was only a glass window in front of us. Unlike the other police stations where Reese is located, here we can talk without the help of a phone handle.
“What's up? You want to laugh at me?” tanyanya cynic. He looked towards Om Zach. “You dare not come alone, so you ask your uncle to accompany you?” He's laughing a little.
“What happened to us, Laras? Our relationship was very good before,” I said concerned. “Me and you never have any problems and support each other. What's wrong with us?”
He fell silent and looked towards his two hands that were on the table bag. He closed his eyes, then opened them. Those originally arrogant eyes turned sad. “I fell in love,” he said slowly. “I fell in love and stopped thinking with my logic.”
He smiled sadly. “I know what I did was wrong when he asked that our relationship be kept secret. Had I not believed him, I would not have considered everyone my enemy. It's not just you. I suspect everyone. But you're the one I hate the most, because I was consumed by Reese's slander.
“I know that your relationship is not good and she envies you. But I didn't think of that. All I'm keeping is for my relationship with him not to be discovered. I let my heart go blind.” Tears fell down her cheeks. “I did everything for her sake, look where I am now. He didn't even come to see me once. I was stupid.
“Excels of the dead are in vain, for I do not use my logic. I let the anger control my every action. I'm so sorry, Dira. I don't know if you will be able to forgive me, but I know that I won't be able to forgive myself.” He covered his face with both hands.
If only I could, I'd love to hug him right now. We are still young. Making mistakes is one of our ways to learn. He and Reese learned a valuable lesson. Unfortunately, they had to spend their youth for a long time behind bars. That fact makes me unable to hate Laras and Reese.
“You okay?” ask Om Zach when we were outside the police station.
I nodded slowly. “Is there anything we can do to help him?” tanyaku.
Om stroking my hair made my emotions peak. My eyes are heating up. The words of regret Laras had been jutting in my head. “Dira, the crime he committed was too big and done consciously. The police are still conducting checks, but his actions are included in criminal acts. Teenage parents who died from his actions will not be willing he was released just like that.”
I sobbed, unable to imagine Laras' future crumbling. “In addition, the child in critical condition died this morning. In total there were twelve children who died.”
