*Hadi*
I knew that Mama had something she planned while sitting by Clarissa's side. Mama, who usually does not want to leave Papa's side, is very strange to suddenly be interested in sitting near the woman who has hurt her son.
My guess was true when I heard Mama's question to Clarissa. He did the same thing to Colin. Make him as the main source for the characters in his new novel. Though there is Adi who also plays online games just like him. Mama would have wanted Clarissa to come to our house whenever she needed a discussion buddy. Can't do.
If you want to use the same strategy to get me and Clarissa back together, then it's never going to happen. I'm not Dira who has been in a long relationship with Colin. It's only natural that he's hard to forget. Clarissa and I will never be together again. So, I don't want to see him hanging around every day at my house.
“I asked Clarissa, not you, Hadi,” Mama said firmly.
“Stay just can't. If Mama keeps pushing, I don't want you to meet in this house. I don't want to see him in my house every day,” I said no less.
“He did not come here to meet you, but discussed with me,” reply Mama does not want to lose. “Your father won't let me out of the house every day. Do you want us to fuss just because of trivial problems?”
“Sepele? It's not a trivial matter, Ma. I don't want to see him come to this house every day. Point.” I looked towards Clarissa. “I hope you answer no.”
Without waiting for her response, I returned to my seat by Adi and Lily's side. The two of them were busy themselves with the game they were playing, so I didn't have to worry about anyone talking to me. Because right now I'm not a good talkative.
Mama and Clarissa were still chatting together. They laugh together, making me suspicious. Mama must have persuaded him to say yes. Is she my mother or not? How could he do this to me? That girl hurt me, her real son.
On Thursday morning, our own busy family made sure we didn't forget our personal belongings. Me, Adi, and Papa were sitting quietly in the living room, waiting for Mama and Dira to get ready. We're used to the length of time they need to choose clothes and makeup, so we know what to do so as not to get bored waiting.
Mr. Kafin drove Papa and Mama, while Pak Sakti drove the car where my brothers and I were. All three of our luggage will not be enough in the trunk of the car if we only use one car. Allowing one of the drivers to drive a car that only contained a suitcase was impolite, so we always shared our family with parents and children.
Dira suddenly shouted as we entered the airport entrance gate. “I passed, Brother! I graduated, Adi! I'm Colin's junior!!” cheers happy. He showed the PTN selection announcement that he saw through his mobile phone. Yeah, her name was on screen and she graduated in my major.
“I know you must have graduated. Congratulations, yes.” I ruffled her hair.
“Sister! Don't do that. This is a surprise for Colin. I've been dressing up for hours, don't make a mess again.” He brushed his hair with his fingers. I'm getting tempted to mess up her hair again. “Kak Hadi!!” I laughed when I saw him angry.
“This Mom wants to talk.” Adi put his phone screen in front of Dira. We both flanked Dira so that all three of our faces could be seen on their screens.
“Darling, is that true?? You graduated??” ask your mom via video call.
“Iya, Ma! Same major as Sister!” dira replied enthusiastically. Mama cheered happily. She kissed and hugged Papa, but the one who passed her daughter, not her husband. We cheered them on, Mama even more anxious to kiss Papa.
Although we were the center of attention because of the happy cry of my sister and her best friend, no one objected to that. After all after months of their focus on their studies, then they deserve to celebrate a little.
Colin who came later was surprised when he saw my sister. Dira just smiled, waiting until my best friend recovered from his shock. My sister dyed her hair back to brown, the same color as Colin's hair. Their hair color will not be completely similar. Colin's hair is naturally brown, while Dira's color is artificial.
Papa and Om Giovanni took care of our tickets and baggage, so we could sit in one place, waiting until they brought our boarding passes. Dira stared hard at me when Vikal called and did not finish talking to him. What can I do? He promised to return to work once the PTN selection announcement came out. Then he must keep his promise. Colin could only laugh.
Five mini buses were waiting for us at Ngurah Rai Airport when we landed on Bali Island. Unlike the previous holidays, we all had happy faces during the trip to Ubud. Dira accidentally did not turn on his phone since getting off the plane to avoid calls from Vikal. I smiled seeing him. Eventually, our lives returned to normal.
Mom and Dad usually. Dira returns with Colin and lives their childish relationship as before. Adi who returned engrossed with his online game after escaping the final exam and was accepted at SMU where me and Dira had been to school.
Only I am different. I no longer wait for the girl I was betrothed to when I was a kid. He has chosen to end our relationship, so I don't need to be tied to the past anymore. I can continue my life. If I'm lucky, I can also choose the girl who will be my wife. Like Dad chose Mama.
“Welcome!” aunty Daphina and Om Brady welcomed us.
“Grandmother!!” Their two children immediately ran out of the hotel approaching Aunt Darla. I know that our call feels weird. Mother and son, but we both call them aunty. What can I do. Aunty Darla and Mama are quite far apart, but Aunt Darla does not want to be called Grandma. He made us call him Aunt. Aunt Lindsey and Aunt Claudia.
The hotel maids took over our luggage, while the Om Brady family took us to the side yard of the hotel. There were several round dining tables with chairs around them, as well as food had been served on them. Our saliva came out looking at all these delicious dishes.
We had lunch together, and the parents decided to rest in their room. Colin and Dira, as well as Wyatt and Charlotte had their own plans, so I only had Adi and Lily to work with. But I was wrong. They prefer to sit on the balcony of the room and discuss those boring online games.
Not wanting to waste any time by crouching in the room, I decided to swim. There are trees by the pool, so swimming at any time there will not make your head dizzy from direct sunlight.
“Ng, no, thank you.” There was the sound of someone I knew coming from the corridor to the pool. “Please, let me pass.” I stopped the step once I recognized the owner of the voice.
“Why not? Rather than swimming alone, you better take a bike ride with us,” said a man. “Our friends will be happy to see a bule girl like you fluent in Indonesian. Take it easy, we pay whatever price you ask.”
“Iya. You definitely need a lot of money to stay at this hotel, ‘kan? No need to pretend to sell expensive. One or two nights with us, you have enough money to go back to your country,” another man's tease. I smiled hearing it.
“Let go of my hand,” Clarissa said gently. I turned and stood at the end of the corridor to see what was coming next.
“How about you just let go yourself?” challenge the first man. I nodded slowly at that stupid word. They should have recognized the opponent before challenging him. “Your hand is very smooth, so I like to hold it.”
Although I only looked at the back of her body, I could imagine a sly smile from her tone. “Good. You yourself asked for it.”
