He's The Unaffordable
Chapter 188 - More Attention

Of course both my grandparents quickly replied no. I deliberately waited until they had enough rest and satiated after dinner to discuss Reese's case. The four of them were suspicious why I suddenly talked about it again.

“Both of Reese's parents came yesterday afternoon, Nek.” Charlotte answered him. She stuck out her tongue as I stared at her in protest.

“Then, it cannot. Do you think that girl will stop bothering you after we release her later? Don't let him hurt you more than this.” Grandma shuddered. “No. I disagree and no one should be affected by Clarissa.”'s persuasion Grandma glared at Grandpa to show that the sentence was addressed to him.

“Before we make a decision, we'd better listen to him. What made him change his mind. I'm sure Clarissa has a good reason.” Grandma smiled at me. I knew that there would be at least one person I could talk to. “Say, darling. Why do you want us to talk to the girl?”

“I know he's a bad guy, Grandma. What he did to me was enough to be the reason we imprisoned him.” I looked one by one at my family to see their reaction. “But he's young. He was only two years younger than me. Imagine at such a young age, he lost his future. So, if he wants to change, I want to give him one last chance to improve his life.”

“What Clarissa said makes sense. But I didn't agree to give the girl another chance. He's had plenty of opportunities to get better since Clarissa left their home. Even more insane, Clarissa paid all her living expenses while with them for the girl's idea. Has he changed? No. gabe. He always acts better than Clarissa.” Charlotte expressed her opinion first.

“I know what I am saying this will be different to the opinion of all of you,” Grandpa said. “But Clarissa has a point. The girl was young and emotional. If talking to him and looking for a deal can improve their relationship, why don't we do it? Clarissa was the victim of the girl, so she had the right to determine the fate of the girl.”

I smiled at him. “Thank you, Grandpa.”

Grandma sighed softly and looked towards Grandpa. Signal that Grandma handed over the decision completely to him. “Good. I'll talk to our lawyer, and then we'll meet him as soon as we get permission to meet Reese.”

“Thank you, Grandpa, Grandma!” seruku happy. Too bad, I couldn't get close and hug them because of the condition of my legs and hands.

The good news came on Monday night. We can come to the detention house to see Reese. Although this is not my first time out of the house, it still feels uncomfortable to travel with the condition of hands and feet still wearing a cast. But I'm not complaining. Whatever I do as long as my business with the Foster family is over for good.

Grandpa's lawyer managed to convince them to give us a room to sit together and talk. Reese's parents also came to discuss with us. I was between Grandpa and his lawyer, and Reese's parents were across from us.

Moments of waiting, the door reopened and a female prison attendant came in carrying Reese. The girl looked completely different without her makeup and nice clothes. But I've seen worse performances than that, so it's not surprising.

“For what is he here, Ma?” reese asked the woman sitting on her right side. “Aren't we just going to talk to the person who sued me?”

“Be good, Son. The whistleblower will not withdraw his demands, if you cannot convince him that Clarissa also wants you released,” said Bu Foster explaining my role. “Be a good boy. We listen to their requests. Okay?”

Grandpa's lawyer gave them three maps to study. The document was written in two languages, Indonesian and English. So, both parties can understand the contents of the agreement.

Reese laughed in surprise, drawing all of us. He raised his head and looked at me with a frown. “You wrote this?” ask her while laughing. “You're serious I have to apologize to you? I'm innocent.”

“Nak, what are you saying?” ask her mother who does not speak Indonesian.

“If she thinks I want to apologize to her, she is wrong, Ma,” said the girl replied seriously. “Mama read it yourself that became his first condition.”

“You just need to apologize, why don't you want to do it? Didn't you see what happened to him because of what you did?” papanya. “He could have been disabled. They didn't ask for her treatment money in compensation, just asked you to say sorry.”

“I wouldn't apologize to him. He took everything from me. He took your attention, teased the guy I liked at school, and now he's brave enough to be arrogant just because he's richer than us. No. gabe. What he went through wasn't even enough to avenge all the pain he caused since I was a kid!” his protest.

Goody. This is Reese I want to show her parents. They should know what kind of girl they raised actually is. He would not want to lose, give in, let alone apologize. Even if he is guilty, he will close his eyes and leave everything to others. Anybody. Just not him.

“Iya! If necessary, he must die! I grew up without your love. He's all you love. The most important photo is his photo. The video is even more complete than you did for me. What's his name if it doesn't grab your attention from me?” reese shouted furiously. “All the growth you guys record and collect. Say, Pa. In what part of your attention is only for me??”

“Oh, Lord ...” murmured Bu Foster with sullen eyes. “What have I done to you?”

“Ka-you misunderstood, Reese.” Mr. Foster looked at me before looking at his daughter again. “We do not do that because we are more attentive and dear to him.”

“Papa lie! I saw it myself. You ask him to smile and do something, then take a picture or record his activities. I'm so confused, who exactly is your biological child between the two of us.”

Miss Foster cried sobbing. “You misunderstood, Son,” he said softly.

“Because the perpetrator has expressed his objection, then this meeting is useless for us to continue,”, said lawyer Grandpa. He took back the three maps that were on the table.

“Tu-wait. Give my daughter time to think about it for a second. He will fulfill all your requests. We just need to explain something to him,” Mr. Foster said pleading.

“No. You guys get out of here! I'm not going to apologize to him! You can only hold me for a few years. But I don't want a lifetime considering I've humbled myself in front of this selfless person.” Reese looked at me sharply.

“Reese, don't do this,” isak Bu Foster.

I look at them with great pity. Poor thing, his parents' tacit decision has made Reese misunderstand all this time. He hates the wrong people. I am a victim, just like him. I don't remember all those photos and videos, but he knows everything.

If I had known, I would have understood why he was jealous of me. No. gabe. We were both jealous, due to the attention of the one-sided old man. The difference is, I never intended to hurt him. Because, after all, we are brothers.

We walked out of the room and let them talk. I've given Reese a chance to save her own reputation. So, I don't have any debt to myself or his parents. I did the best I could by persuading both my grandparents. Reese had already thrown away her golden opportunity.

“How?” ask Grandma who was the first to approach us.

“He refused to apologize, so the legal process will still go,” Grandpa replied. He looked towards his lawyer. “Come, let's talk ahead. You guys get in the car. I'll catch up.” Grandpa asked the man to follow him.

“You look so calm. I suspect. Don't you already know that the evil girl will refuse to apologize to you.” Charlotte squinted her eyes as we were already at the front of the rutan.

“We've been brothers for a dozen years, Charlotte. Not a day or two. Of course I know how he thinks. But I also hope he will change, for the sake of his parents.” I nodded as Wyatt offered to help me move to the car.

“More choose to languish in prison than live freely, he did not stop making me surprised. Approaching Hadi, making friends with his rival in order to get his brother, amazing.” Charlotte clucked slowly. “Grandma, can we stop by the store to buy potato chips?”

“You just talked about something serious, then called potato chips?” my grandmother was surprised. We laughed when we heard it.

“Talking about Reese makes me hungry fast,”.

“By the way, where is Hadi? Said he wanted to accompany you here,” asked Wyatt.
