He's The Unaffordable
Chapter 74 - The Waiting Day

“What Brother sure wants to do this?” tanyaku. We're on our way to Charlotte's. Uncle Mason and his wife were going back to America the next day, so they invited us to dinner at their home.

I'm sure Aunt Darla and Aunt Qiana and their husbands will also come. This invitation is not just for my family. But seeing Brother attend their invitation, I felt bad. After her engagement to Clarissa broke up, she turned into Kak Hadi whom I could barely recognize anymore.

His life spirit was gone, a smile never graced his face again, and he became quiet. Much more quiet than he usually is. All he did all day when he was at home was crouching in his room.

Several times I went in to check on her condition, she must have been working on something on her laptop with her college books strewn across the table. Seeing that, I could not bear to disturb him. One thing that has changed the most is that Clarissa's photos are no longer on the nightstand, neither Clarissa's little nor the photos of the two of them on their engagement day.

“We're almost there and you're just asking now?” ask Kak Hadi.

“If Big Brother changes his mind, it is not too late to turn around and return home,” I suggested. He shook his head slowly. “What Brother is sure?”

“This is just dinner, Dira,” he replied indifferently.

“Clarissa will also be there.”

“I won't cry in front of all of you when that's what you're worried about.”

“I would actually feel better if I saw Brother crying.” He looked at me sharply. I immediately raised both my hands to give up. We're not in a car with Papa and Mama, so no one's gonna stand up for me when you're mad. Adi is not. He prefers to be in a neutral position. “OK, I'll stop.”

Aunt Lindsey's family greeted us enthusiastically on their porch. From the car parked in the front yard of their house, Aunt Darla and Aunt Qiana had already arrived. That means there's ice cream at the table.

Charlotte immediately invited me to sit down with her, but I pulled her to the serving table to pick up the ice cream brought by Aunt Qiana. Satisfied to fill a special glass of ice cream to the brim, then I followed him to sit on one of the sofas.

“I'm pounding waiting for tomorrow,” he said as he placed his right hand on his chest.

“We have prepared well, what are you worried about?” many confused.

“I only had time to prepare for one month, Dira. Different from you who have been in school since the first grade of SMU in Indonesia. Plus, I'm one of the houses with the most annoying people in the world. Complete already my suffering.”

“You already know that he was only taken advantage of by Finley. Wyatt didn't really mean to hurt you. Finley lied to him. Without Wyatt's help, maybe your brother is married to the old man,” I said reminded. “Why don't you forgive him and you can try again from the beginning.”

“Now I ask you, do you want to accept Colin back to be your girlfriend?” ask Charlotte to challenge.

“Our cases are both very different. Colin cheated on me, Charlotte. Although at that time he and Clarissa were just pretending, he was still cheating. Not behind me, he cheated right in front of my eyes!” I said seriously. “Don't let me, my family won't let me go back to him.”

“Why are we even discussing those two loser lads? I was talking about tomorrow's exam,” Charlotte protests.

We keep arguing about the unimportant. And I'm very grateful because I've been struggling with textbooks for over a month. I was fed up with studying, but couldn't ignore it because of the big test that was in sight. Being able to joke like this refreshes my brain.

Although we both sat together and discussed trivial things, our eyes were not separated from the movements of our two brothers who we loved so much. Sis Hadi sat down with Adi and Wyatt. The three of them were busy with their cell phones. Clarissa is flanked by Uncle Mason and Aunt Claudia. His eyes repeatedly looked towards Hadi, but my brother did not care about him.

Clarissa, Clarissa .. She is still an amateur in romance. The rumors will disappear as time goes on. People will forget about him one day, so what he did was very careless. Papa is used to dealing with gossip and sloping news about our family, so he shouldn't pretend to be a hero. He and Colin are the same.

“Kak, fast! I can't be late to school!” seruku panicked to see Kak Hadi walking casually towards the car.

“There's still an hour, Dira. The journey from your home to school is only five minutes. I went too quickly to campus,” grumbled Kak Hadi who glanced at his watch.

“I don't care. I was nervous and I had to calm down before the exam started!” I got into a car whose door was kept open by Mr. Abdi. “Thank you, Sir.” The man replied to me kindly.

“Rilex, Dira. You will answer all the exam questions perfectly. Trust me. You have been preparing for this exam for a long time. I just believe in you, why don't you?” Sis Hadi sat by my side, then Mr. Abdi closed the car door.

“Please, relax, Brother. I need to read some exam summary today.” I opened my notebook and started reading the summaries I made myself from the extra tutoring at school.

The morning atmosphere in front of the school gate is usually full of drama as there are many private cars lined up to escort our school students. But first and second graders did not enter school during these three days of major exams. So, the car line is not as long as usual.

We third graders will use all their rooms. Even some of us got an exam room in Adi's school building. Because it's not just my junior, Adi and all the students in his school are also off for the next three days.

“Dira!” call Charlotte who is running cheerfully towards me.

“See you later,” I said to Kak Hadi. He simply gave his thumbs up before closing the car window door. “Hai, Charlotte. And Wyatt.” I waved at the young man standing behind my good friend.

“Again, Dira.” Wyatt gave me his best smile. Some of the princess students who were nearby stared at him with drool almost dripping from the corner of their lips.

“Charlotte is very nervous, but you are not. Are you confident enough to take the exam well?” I teased Wyatt, ignoring the princess students who surrounded him.

“Gugup will only make me unable to think clearly during the exam later. So, I better just give it up. I'm sure the exam will not be much different from what the teacher has discussed so far,” he said casually.

“We'll see the test results later. I wonder how much value you get for each subject tested,” Charlotte said.

“You are curious about my worth or my feelings for you, honey?” wyatt Goda. I laughed amusedly at it, while the other students melted as if the title was addressed to them.

“Come, Dira. We're going to class now. He's not sane.” Charlotte pulled my hand, taking me to the building where our exam room was located.

I don't know how Uncle Mason and Om Edu were able to enroll Charlotte and Mason into this school, nor how they were both in a class with me, but I'm happy to have a few close friends in my class. And coincidentally, the three of us were in one room at the time of the exam. Only Wendy is not one class with us.

Among the four of us, he was the one who looked the most worried about facing the test. Charlotte still looks a lot calmer compared to Wendy. Though she is not a stupid girl and ranked in the top ten in our class.

The seat position in each exam room is spaced out so that the examinees will not be able to peek at answers about their friends or discuss answers to questions they find difficult. Charlotte gets a front row seat, I'm second, and Wyatt is in the back row. And Charlotte is getting nervous because she's going head-to-head with the lookout table.

“You will not feel nervous after your focus will be a sheet containing exam questions, even you will forget there is a supervisor sitting in front of you,” I said trying to cheer him up. I sat on the edge of his desk and gave him a loaf of bread from my lunch box.

He accepted it, then cast his gaze across the entire class. Pretending not to look for a figure I can already guess. “Look at him. His attention was instead on the girls rather than the exam that was about to start.” Charlotte looked towards Wyatt who was being surrounded by the princess students.

“He said to himself that he was sure he could answer the exam later, so why focus on that? Besides he's still alone, what's wrong with him serving our friends? If there's a match and they decide to date, there's nothing wrong, after all?” I said relax. Charlotte hit her desk hard until I jumped in shock from her desk.
