Chapter 21 - Not an Accident

I know that I speak too sharply, but Dira's eyes need to be opened. He easily trusts others and gives them unconditional loyalty. If the accident he had was only one time, I wouldn't be suspicious. But there have been more than five accidents in the past month that have all led to him, not the rest of the crew.

Who does all this is not the main question. Why would he do this? What good is it to hurt my sister? Does this have anything to do with the big contract he just received or Papa's company? Despite the peaceful situation, there are some people who do not like Papa and his success.

Arriving home, we exchanged looks at the rows of cars that filled the front yard. Why do our parents' friends gather for these nights? I let Pak Sakti take over the car to put in the garage and walk with Dira towards the house. Mr. Abdi welcomed us and confirmed my guess as to who was visiting.

I knocked, then opened the front room door. The adults who were inside were silent for a moment and set their sights on us. Dira went in first, then I closed the door again. Adi was also among them, sitting next to Mama.

“What is this, Pa, Ma?” tanya Dira was confused. “Has something happened?”

Everyone looks disappointed and depressed for a reason. What makes Papa, Mama, and all their friends look unhappy? It was already night time, what made them unable to wait for tomorrow to meet and talk here?

“It's about Mila's DNA test results. She is not the biological daughter of Matias and Abigail,” Mama replied slowly. Aunt Lindsey sniffles. The room was quiet again.

“Seeing from photos of Almarhumah Aunt Abby and Aunt Claudia, it is impossible Mila is not their biological daughter, Ma. Their faces are too similar. Can't we do the test again?” I don't want to believe that the test showed the right results.

“Claudia will come as soon as possible to retest. She was very sure that Mila was Clarissa after she saw her picture. It just so happens that Charlotte will also take a national exam in order to apply to become a student here. So, we have to wait to find out the second result,” said Om Edu slowly, but expectantly.

This is a big blow for both of them. In a little more, they will find a grandchild who has been missing for a dozen years without a trace. But the expected results will help prove that our allegations are all correct and even give disappointing results.

I also very much hope that the results of this test will be able to end my waiting. I'm not gonna do what Colin did. I wanted to give a true ending to my relationship with Clarissa, which was intertwined with the interference of our parents.

“Pa, can we talk to you for a minute?” ask me after everyone gets home. Papa looked towards Mama. “Bring only.” Dira sighed softly, understanding what I was going to talk about with our papa. Papa and Mama looked at me and Dira in turn.

“Good. I'll wait for you in the room.” Mama patted Papa's chest softly. My father kissed Mama's lips before taking her off to their room.

My father and I walked into the room. Bu Yuyun and Sita were tidying up the dishes and glasses that were on the table. Seeing them stop, Papa asked them to pass it on and refused as Bu Yuyun offered another drink or snack.

Fifty-three years old, Papa still looks gallant and his brain is also watered. He doesn't look like a man of his age in general. White hair that began to dye his black hair also did not reduce his charisma. No wonder Mama's crazy about Papa.

I know that their marriage is not perfect. They have made mistakes that have been bad for their marriage. But it made me admire them even more. I respect those who stay put amid the many things that test their relationship. And I want to have a marriage that strong.

That's why I don't want my future wife to be attracted to me just because of my family background and big name. At the moment we have everything. But if I make a little misstep, then what Grandpa and Papa have worked so hard to maintain can be broken in my hands.

A wife who does not love me but my treasure will surely leave me in a difficult situation. He would prefer to find another man who can give him the comfort of life. I'd rather not get married at all than have a relationship like that.

“I need Papa's help to investigate what happened to Dira.” Papa put on a serious face as I mentioned my sister's name. “Before, I'm sorry I didn't tell this to Papa. Dira has had several accidents that could endanger him on the set of shooting or filming. Vikal had talked about this with Mr. Billy and they thought it was just an accident. There is no sign or proof that anyone wants to hurt Dira.”

“First, you don't have to apologize. Although I disagree with your mother, but she's right. We can't keep protecting you. So, whenever you decide to address your own issues, we appreciate the decision,” Papa said slowly.

“Regarding the accident that happened to Dira, I will talk to Irwan. You can focus on your lecture, let me take over this matter.” I knew that I would be able to rely on Papa in every way. Papa looked at me intently, signaling he wanted to say something that had nothing to do with our conversation. “Are you and Colin okay?”

“What does Papa mean?” my question does not understand. “If this is any relationship with Dira, then we are fine. Colin is a good and loyal friend. Her business with Dira is their business, so I don't want to interfere.”

“Not that I mean.” Papa looked at me meaningfully. I frowned, trying to understand what the question meant about me and Colin. “You guys like the same girl. Although the test results proved otherwise, I still believed that the girl was Clarissa. He looks a lot like Abigail. If it is proven that he is the grandson of Edu and Lindsey, your relationship with Colin will be more complicated.”

“Don't worry about that, Pa. Colin doesn't have any feelings for Mila.” I've known him since we were kids, so I know what his face looks like when he's in love.

“How can you be so sure? Although I don't like this, Colin and Dira's relationship is over. He even dared to bring the girl to be introduced in front of all of us.” Papa opened up the facts that corroborated his conjecture.

“Because Colin still loves Dira. I don't know what made him do such a fool. But if he gets to see Dira with other young men, he will definitely burn with jealous fire.” I expressed my opinion. Papa nodded slowly.

“It's a pity your mama wouldn't let me teach your best friend a lesson. My hands are already itching to break some of his teeth,” Papa said meaningfully. I laughed with him.

While we rarely resolve problems with violence, family is the exception. We will not remain silent if our spouse, siblings, or parents are hurt. To this day, I've never had any problems. I will never hit innocent people. Papa and Om Zach know that. So, they were always ready to help me when I got into a legal case because of a fight.

“If you are serious with this girl, don't forget,” Papa said now in a serious tone. “Make sure no ex or third person will stand in the way of your future together. What you and I have experienced, do not repeat to you.”

Meanwhile on the second floor~

“What's up, baby? You look restless,” asked Zahara to her daughter. “Are you worried about what your dad and brother are talking about?”

“Actually this is no big deal. But Big Brother did not want to listen to me and decided to involve Papa in trivial affairs.” Dira clucked loudly.

“If Hadi involves your papa, then this is not a trivial affair. What's up, Son?” zahara asked now with a worried tone. Dira looked at his mother with a clear face. “Don't put on that face, I won't be affected. What was? If you don't want a story, I'll still know the whole story from your papa.”

“I had several accidents during the shooting. Brother asks Vikal and Mr. Billy to investigate what happened. In conclusion, it was purely just an accident, there was no element of willfulness. But Sister does not accept.”

“So, Hadi asked Papa to be involved in the investigation of the accident?” ask Zahara. Dira nodded slowly. “Who wants to hurt you, baby? Have you had any problems with someone lately?”
