He's The Unaffordable

He's The Unaffordable
Chapter 161 - Sharing the News

Knowing that Hadi would come to the campus to see his guidance counselor, I also went there after dropping off Lily. Instead of just being alone at home, I better go to college and meet Hadi. Anyway I haven't had time to tell him anything about my family's problems which thankfully are almost over.

I waited in front of the lecturer room with other students. Valeria is nowhere to be seen, but I have to be vigilant. She can show up anytime and anywhere. I don't want to have any more problems with Dira because of him.

“Hai, Cole!” sapa Hadi who walked closer to the lecturer room. “I'll be back soon.” She must have promised to meet her lecturer in person, so I just nodded.

He's been inside long enough. That means this is his meeting to discuss with the lecturer, not just submit his script that he has been working on. Well, my plan to graduate faster than him could fail miserably. Dira can't keep a secret. Why did he tell Hadi that I had already met the lecturer and submitted my script?

As soon as Hadi came out, I stood up and he took me away from that place. The first hour of the lecture is still ongoing, so the atmosphere of the campus is very quiet. Only one or two people were seen walking the campus corridor. Hadi walked towards the parking lot.

“Where are we going?” many confused.

“I only get permission until lunch hour. I should've been in the office by the time the break was over. You haven't told me anything about your problem. So, we'll go to the cafe near Papa's office. Your job is just to pick up Lily from school, ‘right?” tanyakanya.

“How can you know? I could have met my lecturer today,” I said twitched.

“Dira told me that you went to college yesterday. Why else would you come if not for meeting the lecturer? All your courses, ‘kan, are in order,” teasenya. I laugh. “Your lecturer couldn't possibly read your script in one day. So, you're here to meet me.”

I don't argue with him anymore. Since he was driving his car, I did not wait and moved first to the cafe he was referring to. After ordering warm drinks and snacks for the two of us, I chose a seat for two.

Hadi arrived along with my order which can already be taken. We add sugar and cream to our drinks. The cafe is still empty. But I'm sure the visitors will arrive as soon as lunchtime arrives.

“So, what's up? Why can't you tell me about a problem you were facing a while ago?” ask Hadi without further ado.

I told him everything. Starting from Dad who didn't come home, then we found him sleeping in a hotel room with Aunt Chelsea. Hadi knows who that woman is and her relationship with Dad. He also knows what I know about Aunt Chelsea's feelings for Dad.

“That we were worried about all this time happened as well.” Hadi shook his head slowly. “I don't think he would dare to do it here. That's why you keep Uncle Will every time you come back to America. Turns out we misjudged him.”

“Dad and Mama's relationship is still bad. But I hope this weekend they can talk about their problems and find solutions together,” I said slowly. “I also started to worry that my relationship with Dira would encounter the same problem.”

“What do you mean?”

“Valeria suddenly hugged me yesterday. Fortunately, Dira was able to think clearly and not get angry. I don't know what he would have done had Dad's fault done me too.”

“Cole, betrayal can happen in any form. That is our biggest fear. But my brother is not stupid. He can tell which traps and which ones are your own. So, you don't have to worry about overdoing it.” He brought his body closer to the table. “Then what does Valeria want by hugging you? Did he say anything?”

“Great also you can guess he wants something,” I said a little surprised.

“After what happened to our lives lately, I can't believe anymore there are people approaching us without any ill intentions.” Hadi looked around us.

“He said, he would do anything to hurt you, including by hurting your sister.” I repeated the words I heard that day.

“It's time to get Papa involved. I don't want any more surprises from that woman. I should have been suspicious when she pretended to be sick and had me accompany her to the infirmary. There's something strange about that girl. He declares love, then keeps coming closer after being rejected. He asked me how I was going through Dira, and the next time he hugged you? If he is not crazy, then there are problems in the past that make him not also give up.” Hadi typed quickly on his phone.

“Dira has complained to Uncle. But I don't know what the result is,” I said slowly.

Hadi stopped typing and looked at me seriously. “Papa already know this?”

“Means Om Irwan has not got the full info. Normally Papa would ask me if that person had anything to do with me.” Hadi put his phone back on the table.

“By the way, how about you? Any news from the interns? I heard Clarissa was also among them.” I blinked one eye at him.

“Since when do you like to do Wyatt's bad habits? Not usually you blink your eyes.” Hadi frowned, not liking the small change. “Everyone's wishes have been reached. Clarissa and I are back together.”

“This is serious or just messing around?” I just don't believe it. “You will call him Rissa if you are serious about your relationship.”

Hadi smile. “You are indeed my best friend,” he said satisfied. “I gave him a chance for three months. If in that time he still asks for another break up, then this is the last chance I give him.”

“Aah, so this is just a trial relationship.” I nodded in understanding. “Hopefully he made it through this light test. You two are so compatible. Can't you see that?”

“I don't care about matching, matching, and other lying words. All of that is useless if Clarissa is not strong in her relationship with me. You know for yourself that my family has many enemies. They will do anything to make us suffer,” said Hadi who had a point. I've been an eyewitness seeing for myself what others can do to hurt them.

“Can I help you?” my ask offers myself.

Hadi shook his head slowly. “I don't want you to talk to Clarissa and ask her to never break our relationship,” she said threateningly.

I'm laughing a little. “No, Hadi. I mean not Clarissa, but your problem with Valeria.” I cleared my throat slowly. “What is in your head now is just him?”

“Close your mouth!” Her face was flushed which I was sure was not out of anger, but shame. Clarissa is the only girl who can make him fall in love. How could he possibly be far away in such a long time from the woman he loved.

We parted a few minutes before his office lunch hour ended. I arrived in front of Lily's school gate in time. The other disciples had already come out of the large fence, but my sister had not been seen standing waiting for my arrival. After a few minutes, I saw him and Adi.

“Hai, Colin! Thank you for helping me yesterday,” he said while giving me something. I frowned looking at the little card. “Voucher game for free. Contains appreciably. You can buy anything for your character. Until tomorrow.”

Adi immediately ran to his car. I turned to Lily and saw her staring at the card in my hand. “You want? Take.” I gave the voucher to him.

“Ah, no. Adi said, it's a gift for you,” he said refused.

“I don't need anything for my character. For you only.” I returned the card to him. This time he accepted and thanked me.

After taking my script from the lecturer the next day, I won't be able to touch the game for the next few days. So, I used the rest of the day to play with my sister. He looks more relaxed now than he did yesterday. I didn't even see him paying any more attention to Adi. Maybe after we spoke, the load felt lighter.

Loving someone can be hard, especially when the person we care about is not for us. Seeing Lily reminds me of Aunt Chelsea. Too bad, he was wasting his youth waiting for Dad to return his love. At least, my sister wouldn't make the same mistake.

A notification pops up at the top of the game screen while I'm having dinner with my sister. Incoming call from Dira. I answered him immediately. “Hai, darling!” happy sapaku. Lily cleared her throat.

“Colin, are you with Brother today? He was on campus, did you meet him?” ask Dira without returning my greeting.

“Iya. We talked and ate at a cafe near his office. Then we parted before lunch was over. What's up?” many confused.

“Kakak did not return to his office and until now he has not returned home either. We do not know where he is now,” said Dira who then cried bitterly. “Ka-kakak does not answer calls from ka-kami.”
