*Clarissa*
I've never felt so happy. When the Foster family raised me to be their son, it didn't feel this happy. They gave me shelter, affection, but I could feel that they treated me differently to Reese. Naturally, he was their biological child, hence he was the priority.
Grandpa, Grandma, Grandpa, Grandma, Charlotte are very dear to me. The adults even treated me more special than my sister until she felt jealous. I know they're just kidding, because they're not gonna hurt Charlotte on purpose. But I could feel their sincerity towards me.
They love to show their attention through touch. At first, I felt sad because I was not used to it. Holding hands, kisses on the face, hugs are things I rarely get. Even the Foster family isn't that intimate with me. Only Reese would occasionally hug or hold my hand when she invited me to play together. Father and Mother Foster only occasionally patted my shoulder when praising or holding my hand when we were outside the house.
Whenever I feel so happy, I always lose everything as fast as I get it. That's why I can't get those bad thoughts out of my head. I'm afraid they'll be disappointed when I make a mistake, then throw me out. Or someone slandered me and they kicked me out of the house.
I don't care about the fact that they're rich. All of that I consider as the luck I got by being born in their family. If they were a poor family, I would still be proud to be a member of their family. But I was afraid of losing their love. I'm afraid someone like Finley will try to separate me from my family again.
“Why do you look sad, Clarissa?’ asked Charlotte who had suddenly knelt by my side. We were sitting in chairs available by the pool enjoying fruit cut by our two grandmothers and placed on a plate. The men are swimming.
“Ah, no. I was just thinking of something.” I'm laughing a little. “What are you doing? Come on, back to your seat.” Grandma and Grandma were sitting on my right and left side, so Charlotte was sitting on the chair opposite me with the table between us.
“Hadi hasn't contacted you since last night? Is that what you think? He must not have gotten used to your new status. Don't worry, he'll get used to it soon. I assure you, you are very lucky to get a young man like him.” Grandma blinked one eye.
“Grandma always said that when Wyatt approached me. I was still first class SMU, but Grandma and Grandpa didn't forbid me from dating. It was precisely those who kept pushing me to accept Wyatt's proposal to be his girlfriend.” Charlotte laughed a little. “And they were both right. I'm very lucky to have him as my girlfriend.”
“We and Wyatt's parents have been friends for a long time. Just like us with Hadi's parents. So, we know that their children will also be good people. I won't let go of such a good opportunity.” Grandma gave me a piece of the apple she had cleaned. “The fact that they are the children of the rich also think of it as a bonus.”
“You really know choose good men. Hadi and Wyatt are both major heirs of their family venture and fortune.” Grandma laughs amusedly. “Others will think of you as a grandmother with eyes.”
“I never care what people say, especially those who envy my life. I just want the best for my two grandchildren. Which grandma doesn't want the same thing?” Grandma shrugged both of her shoulders casually.
“Akui only, Grandma. You're only after my family's wealth,” Wyatt's tease. He tied the ropes of his bathing coat near his waist as he walked up to Charlotte. We laughed when we heard it. “But I don't mind, because I got the girl I love. He is more expensive than all the treasures in this world.” Wyatt kissed my sister's head.
“You said that so I said yes to our conversation last night, ‘kan?” said Grandma who looked at him meaningfully. The three of us frowned hearing it. We didn't know they had secret talks last night.
“Talk about what, Claudia?” ask Grandma to know.
“Hadi and Clarissa are engaged, so I want to formalize my relationship with Charlotte as well. We've been together for two years, my parents have also urged me to apply for him immediately.”
“But, Wyatt, you will start college in the middle of this year,” said the confused Grandma.
“What guarantees that our engagement will keep them away from me? Honey, I've chosen you. I won't turn on other men.” Charlotte shook her head slowly. “After if you want us to get engaged, you can ask me to marry you, then give me a ring. Beres.”
“I don't want this show just between the two of us. I want it to be like what happened to Hadi and Clarissa last night. That's much more thrilling, sweety.”
“I don't know why Claudia objected to that or she just teased you, but I agree if you want to get engaged to Charlotte. My granddaughter never complains about you, Grandpa is also happy with your relationship. So, why not?”
Wyatt's face immediately turned happy. “Then, can we do it tomorrow, Grandma? Invite all of Grandpa's friends, Grandma, Charlotte, anyone to attend. I'll cover all his expenses.”
“Can't be tomorrow, Wyatt. I couldn't have asked them all to come to this house all of a sudden. Let us discuss first. I promise, before Claudia and Mason return to America, you two will be officially engaged.”
“Yes! Thank you very much, Grandma! I love you so much!” Wyatt hugged and kissed Grandma on the cheek, then did the same to Grandma. Charlotte and I laughed at her behavior. “Can I ask for one more thing? I'd like to ask Charlotte out on a date and we'll probably be home tonight.”
“I told you, you don't need to ask permission.” Grandma rolled her eyeballs. “Ah, since it's Sunday night, why don't you guys have a double date? Bring Clarissa and invite Hadi to come with you.”
“The more crowded the better.” Wyatt pulled Charlotte's hand, then mine. “We will get ready now. Thank you very much, Grandma, Grandma.”
The first place we went was Hadi's house, but he wasn't home. Om Hendra and Auntie Zahara welcomed us cordially. Once we knew the reason for our arrival, Dira and Adi wanted to take part. Since only they knew where Hadi was, then we took them with us.
When we arrived at a housing complex, we stopped near a basketball court. Colin and Hadi are preparing to go on his best friend's motorcycle. After speaking for a while, Hadi got into the car, leaving Colin with their friends.
I don't need to look back to know Dira's facial expression. She must have felt uncomfortable seeing her ex being this close to her. Hadi and Dira's relationship is so special that she doesn't mind her brother still being friendly with his ex. I felt guilty for being the reason they broke up, but I immediately threw that thought away. Colin told us that this was just part of his plan. I'm completely innocent.
When we arrived at the mall and I walked hand in hand with Hadi, I felt so comfortable telling me everything I felt. I didn't realize I was crying when I told her my fear. I don't know what's wrong with me. My tears broke twice with him and I didn't mind every time he hugged me this hard.
We lost track of our sisters as we walked back to the place where we last saw them. Hadi invited me to check out every restaurant we passed by and search for them among the visitors.
I didn't notice the road in front of me when someone hit my side. The young man apologized, but Hadi did not accept. I don't know what's going on so he's so angry. Since we were in a crowd, I did not want to attract the attention of the crowd. So, just as she wanted to chase after the man, I held her hand.
“You all right?” ask her with a worried tone. I shook my head as he asked if the young man had hurt me. But I checked my bag and it was fine, and my eyes were on my left wrist. Oh. No. gabe. “What's up, Rissa?”
“Ge-bracelet gift you no.” I showed my wrist where the jewelry was supposed to be.
