Chapter 116 - It's Not My Business
When I left the house, Pak Sakti was waiting in my car. Papa's rule should have been withdrawn. Until when should I be accompanied by Pak Sakti wherever I go? Finley's already in jail, so he won't be able to hurt me again.
I called Dira when I got to the mall. He mentioned the name of a restaurant, I immediately walked to the elevator. After arriving at the destination floor, I got out and walked quickly towards the restaurant. A waiter greeted me kindly, but I refused his offer to take me to an empty table.
The hand from the corner of my right eye caught my attention. I looked up and saw Dira smiling at me. He's one table with Adi, Lily, Wyatt, Charlotte, even Clarissa. How dare he do this to me! If it wasn't for her crying on the phone, I wouldn't have run here to pick her up!
“Hadi, Hadi.” Someone put his hand on my shoulder. “I can't believe you still suspect that I could hurt my beloved girl. You hurt my feelings.”
“Stop this nonsense! You two are so childish.” I pulled her hand off my shoulder, then turned around.
“Kak, don't do this.” I felt my second hand holding my hand. “I'm sorry to have to use this way, but I mean well.”
I looked at him furiously. “Don't do this again, Dira. Or I won't believe you again when you really need help.”
“Hadi,” protest Colin.
I raised my hand towards him. “Do not interfere. It's between me and my sister.” I looked back at Dira. “This is the last, Dira.”
“OK, okay. This is the last one, I promise,” said Dira relented. Then she smiled sweetly. “What do you want to eat ice cream? We will watch exactly at four o'clock, so there is still about an hour.” Dira glanced at his watch.
“I can't believe you'd rather be on Clarissa's side than me, your own sibling.” I let him pull my hand into the restaurant. I refused to sit near Clarissa, so I told Adi to move so I could sit on the sidelines.
Since I haven't had time for lunch, I ordered the main meal complete with a snack. They all pretended not to see me by continuing their conversation that seemed to have interrupted. Anyone who sparks a stupid idea by playing me just now will get the reward. I'm sure Dira didn't have that idea. My suspicion is that Wyatt or Charlotte persuaded Dira to do so.
“What's up, Hadi? Why do you see me like that?” charlotte asked confusedly.
“I hope what Dira did earlier wasn't your idea.” I looked at him seriously.
Charlotte laughed in surprise. He turned towards his lover with a meaningful look. “You know that we've known each other since we were in diapers, ‘kan? Do you think I would give Dira such a silly idea? I'm smarter than that, Hadi.”
“Then Wyatt is the only person whose intelligence level is below yours.” I looked towards the next suspect.
“No need to blame them. If you need someone to blame, blame me. I asked them to find a way to bring you here, join us,” Clarissa said to save her future sister-in-law. “You can say just one word. If I make you uncomfortable being here, then I'll go.”
All eyes are looking at me. Just be right. Those who allied to force me to come here, and now they are united to make me feel guilty. I decided not to say anything. This I take as a lesson not to fall into my sister's trap again.
It is only fitting that Pak Sakti was ready in the front yard of the house. No wonder he was there. He went to see Adi meet Lily. Stupid me. Not only my sister and friends who bullied me, it turns out Pak Sakti was also involved.
A few minutes before the movie started, we walked out of the restaurant to the cinema. The girls say goodbye to going to the toilet, we do the same. Fortunately, the men's toilet was not crowded, so we could use the available space without having to queue.
“Clarissa is nervous,” Wyatt said as she stood by my side near the sink. “Grandma and Grandpa White are coming next week with a young man who likes him. I really like Clarissa. So, he wants to ask you for help.”
“Pretend to be his girlfriend so that the man does not approach him?” guess me bored. A girl as smart as Clarissa used this way to reject men? Where did the girl who did not think long to break her relationship with me go?
“Just because you and Colin made up with the girl you love, doesn't mean I should do the same. I've said repeatedly—” my protest.
“That the breakup of you and Clarissa is different to our case. Okay, I understand that.” Wyatt brought himself closer to me. “Listen, Charlotte and I have been planning our future for a long time. He resigned himself if Grandpa and Grandpa decided which company would be passed on to him. But with Clarissa's discovery, we still have hope of returning to America one day.
“I cannot ignore my parents and let our family company fall into the hands of our other relatives. If Clarissa gets married to this young American, then she will bring my sister-in-law there,” whispered Wyatt in despair.
“What do you mean? He and Clarissa could have stayed here. Why are you so sure he'll take her to America?” my question does not understand.
“Because the status is the same as ours, Hadi. He is the main heir of his family. He used to have an older brother. Unfortunately, he has died of severe illness.”
“My answer is still no. Your family and Charlotte's company business is your business. I wasn't. Clarissa wants to stay here or go to America is none of my business,” I said firmly.
Hearing the announcement that the movie we were watching was about to begin, Colin interrupted us. He and Adi walked out of the toilet first. Wyatt looked at me with a clear face, but I didn't care about it. Clarissa and the young man had not had any relationship yet, why was he already worried? After all, the girl would not fall in love with him. If the young man succeeds, then they deserve to be together.
The movie we watched was an action movie, but the girls were surprised to see there was a spice of horror as well. I just put on a smile hearing my sister scream in fear every time a scene full of surprises and creepy. He deserved to experience it after lying to me earlier.
Wyatt proposed that we have dinner together while walking out of the movie theater. The pale-faced Dira could only remain silent as she walked by Colin's side. I answered for the three of us. I refused that invitation. Colin also agreed when he saw the condition of his lover.
Finally, only Charlotte, Wyatt, and Clarissa ate together, while we decided to go home. Dira can't whine at Colin to set her back with Lily with us. He was forced to go home in my car and Colin was with his sister. Dira looked at me sharply. It's not my fault the date was interrupted. He himself who did not think before joking that way.
“Hadi,” call Clarissa when we will be parting ways. I turned towards him indifferently. “Can I talk to you for a minute?”
I looked towards Wyatt and Charlotte who were standing behind him. Wyatt moved his lips to say the word please. “You talked about what?”
“Can we talk alone? Not tonight. We don't have any more courses tomorrow, so can we talk on campus? The time is up to you. I've been on campus since nine in the morning.” He looked at me expectantly.
“If you ask me to talk to ask me to be your fake girlfriend, I'm sorry. I-i refused. My time is too precious to play around with other people's feelings.”
He rounded his eyes, then looked behind him. “Wyatt told you? You shitty guy. He should not have dismantled his own plan.”
“His own plan?” I laughed in disbelief.
“Do you think I want to come to you and watch for no reason? I don't like this young man, it doesn't mean I'll come back to you. I don't know how to escape from her pursuit. Wyatt and Charlotte propose this. I'd do anything to keep him away from me. That's the only reason I want to be close to you again.”
“Good. Then we agree again. I also don't want to be close to you anymore.” I looked towards Wyatt who looked worried. “I have a better suggestion. If you're afraid to speak honestly, let me talk to that man.”
His face immediately turned cheerful. “Really? You're gonna do that for me?”
“Don't big head. I'm not doing this for you, but for Wyatt.” I turned around and did not wait for his response again.
