Charlotte really left me alone with Colin. They even just passed by without looking back one bit. Wendy is the same. I thought he was my best friend, and he was as bad as Charlotte.
“So, we go now?” colin asked as he stretched out his helmet.
I only have the option of riding public transport. Papa never allowed me to take a taxi or a car booked online by myself. But if I'm with a friend, then I can book a taxi or a car. Taking the bus is not an option either. The nearest stop was too far away for me to travel by foot.
“This is the last. When you come again, I'd rather walk than sit near you on your ugly motorcycle.” I took the helmet out of his hand violently.
“Augly motorcycle?” He looked around us. The girls students looked towards him and his motorcycle with seductive smiles. Some even laughed flirtatiously with a friend beside him without taking their eyes off Colin or his crappy motorcycle. “Your school friends seem to disagree with your opinion.”
“That's because their taste is as low as yours,” I said mockingly. “We go or not? Come, hurry. I still have important work.”
Like most other flirtatious motorcyclists, Colin deliberately rode recklessly. As a result, I was forced to let go of my grip on the iron in the backseat and hug her body. I really hate this unfaithful man.
The journey that can be taken ten minutes by motorcycle becomes double the length. He deliberately drove slowly and sped up whenever I let go of the hug on his waist. So annoying.
He stopped by the flower shop and bought a bouquet of red roses. I opened my mouth to see how many roses he had bought. Yesterday he just bought the same flowers for Mama, today he bought them again?
“Aw!” she cried out in pain as I pinched her waist hard the moment we got in front of my house. I deliberately waited for the right moment so as not to disturb his focus.
“You behave like children who have just learned to ride a motorcycle. Don't come again tomorrow, because I'd rather walk than be hugged by you again.” I didn't refuse when he gave me his hand to help me get down from the seat, then put his helmet back on.
“Hai, darling! How was your school today?” ask Mama who welcomes my return. His attitude is very suspicious.
“What mom welcomed my arrival? Usually Mama stays focused with Mama's work and doesn't leave the room every time I go home.” I squinted my eyes. Mama laughed a little.
“Your mood is bad, so I won't pretend.” Mom looked towards Colin. “Come, Son. There's something important I want to ask you.”
“There is nothing important Mama needs to ask him.” I turned towards Colin and stared intently at him as he came closer with a bouquet of flowers in his hand.
“What can I help you with, Aunt?” Colin smiled sweetly and gave the bouquet to Mama. I rolled my eyeballs watching Mama smile blush. “We passed the flower shop, so I stopped by to buy my favorite flowers Aunt.”
“Thank you, Nak.” Mama gave the bouquet to Mr. Abdi. “I heard your conversation with Adi yesterday and I am interested in the game you guys are playing.”
Mama walks into the house with Colin walking by her side. I was just ignored at the door. A game? Mama suddenly interested in the game that Colin and Adi have been playing for years? I can't believe Mama's siding with the man who hurt her own daughter.
Uninterested in their conversation, I chose to go into my room. After taking a shower and changing clothes, I opened my laptop and read the latest news about modeling. I also checked my email and saw that there were many product offers asking me to be their model. Though they knew I had an agent and every job offer had to go through them.
I smiled seeing one of the emails coming from Vikal. She didn't stop teasing me with advertising offers or prestigious fashion shows. Of course I want to work again soon and be preoccupied with the dense modeling activity. I tried to contact him many times and said yes. But this is not my future. I'm not sure in the next ten or twenty years I'm still interesting. So, I need to finish my education as best I can.
“So, how? What happened yesterday? Did you and Colin make up again?” charlotte asked as we met at the school gate. He and Wyatt stood with smiles on their faces as I got out of the car.
“I don't talk to traitors.” I walked past them without stopping at all.
“Dira, don't get mad.” Charlotte held my hand while walking by my side. “Colin seemed to have good intentions when he came to pick you up yesterday. That's why I let you two talk.”
“Talk? Discuss what? We broke up, Charlotte. The end's. Discharged. Done it. What can you not understand from all those words?” I turned towards Wyatt who was preparing to say something. “Don't say anything, Wyatt. I don't want to hear your opinion.”
“I just wanted to say, Jordan is behind us. I'm sure in a few seconds he'll call your name, so—” Before Wyatt finishes his sentence, I speed up my pace. I don't know why I avoided that young man. I am usually easy to make friends. But somehow I feel bad every time I'm around her.
“Hai, friends,” greet Wendy who has been in class first. The three of us tried to catch our hunting breaths as we walked towards each other's tables. “What's wrong with you guys? Didn't you guys drive you to school? Why do you guys like running hundreds of meters?”
“Ah, I understand.” Wendy exchanged glances with Charlotte, then they laughed together.
I did not wait long to repay them. “Charlotte, it looks like you will soon be the arrival of another girl who will often visit your home.” I moved my eyeballs toward the back row seat, where Wyatt was.
His hand paled from holding the drink bottle too tightly, while his face was crimson withstanding anger. It's easy to make her jealous. A few of our classmates were crowding Wyatt and the young man looked happy with them. I am content to be the last person to laugh between me and my best friend.
“What color shirt are you wearing tomorrow, Dira?” jordan asked, who caught up with me and my friends at the school gate. When did he understand that I didn't like his attitude? I don't want to be rude bluntly, but can't he understand every signal I've clearly shown?
I ignored the meaningful smiles of the three of them. “I have not decided which dress to wear. So, I don't know.”
“If you haven't bought clothes for tomorrow, I can accompany you shopping.” Jordan gave a suggestion. “To make it easier for both of us, you hitchhiked in my car only.”
“No, thank you. I already have a lot of clothes, just just choose what there is.”
“Ah, how about I help you choose the color of clothes for you to wear tomorrow?”
“That's a good suggestion, Jordan. Dira usually wears that color shirt again, that's again. Give him a suggestion of a color that you think is suitable for him.” Charlotte deliberately gave support to the young man. He dodged as I stared at him sharply.
“Mm.” Jordan looked at me carefully, then thought seriously. “How about the black color? You will look elegant and luxurious wearing clothes with dark colors.”
“Black?” Charlotte deliberately raised her voice, pretending to be surprised. Wendy closed her mouth with her hands holding back laughter. Only Wyatt seemed confused by what had happened. “Wow. I'm sure that color would be a perfect fit for Dira. I agree.”
Black is Colin's favorite color. Charlotte and Wendy knew that. Ever since Colin and I broke up, I've been avoiding all the things that are closely related to him. I keep all my clothes, shoes, bags, watches, anything black. Not only was the brown hair that I returned to the original color, but all the items that could remind me of her, I removed.
“I'm glad I mentioned the right color. What do you think, Dira?” ask Jordan.
“Will I consider.” I'd rather not outright refuse him not to keep talking about this topic.
Unfortunately, I misjudged Jordan's mind. He did not talk about the color of the shirt for tomorrow's farewell again. But he kept walking with us all the way to the school gate. My three best friends did not help at all by continuing to respond to his words.
The next problem came when I saw Colin in front of the gate near his ugly motorcycle. I've clearly told you that I don't want to see her again today. Maybe he thinks that I'm just posing an empty threat. He misjudged me.
“Jordan, can we talk to you for a minute?” ask Wyatt. He did not wait until the young man replied by wrapping his hand around his shoulder and taking the man near Charlotte's car.
“Hai, Colin!” greet Charlotte and Wendy simultaneously. The traitorous youth returned their greetings kindly. “Jaga our best friend. Until tomorrow, Dira.”
I sighed loudly to see my friends leaving me with this man. “Didn't you hear what I told you yesterday?”
“Who are the men who are with Wyatt?” colin asked ignoring my question. His eyes could not be separated from Wyatt and Jordan who were talking seriously.
“You know him?” I asked back.
“No. That's why I'm asking you. But I've seen him. I will never forget that face.” Colin looked at me.
“What do you mean? Did he ever do anything bad to you?” Is this why I always felt that there was something strange about the young man's attitude?
“No. Or rather, not yet. That young man must have had bad intentions, Dira. I've seen him meet with Vivaldo and Nora.”
