He's The Unaffordable

He's The Unaffordable
Chapter 32 - Restless

*Mila*

I took a deep breath, then took it out slowly. For days I have not been calm waiting for news from Hadi. Fortunately, my phone is made of strong materials or communication tools have long since broken because I hold it tightly.

I repeatedly wanted to send him a message, and I repeatedly canceled my intention. Even though he called me his friend, I still felt disinclined to bother him with the message from me.

My phone shook, I looked at the screen lazily. Message from Sigit again. I don't want to accept clients for a while. If the couple is my family, then I don't need any more money to go to America. My savings were enough to pay for my life until I got a job.

New clients' offers are getting increasingly unreasonable. I frowned reading the amount mentioned just to accompany a thirty year old man to dinner with his family.

It's not like a message from Sigit. But this is his number and only he knows this phone number. The number I only use to communicate with him. He's being pressed with circumstances or his client who doesn't know give up, I don't know.

I have always trained myself since living independently well. Greed is the source of trouble, so I know that big money doesn't always mean good. Duration of dinner at most about two hours, or three hours. Why did this man offer fifty million for just three hours? He won't force me to sleep with him, ‘ will he?

The cooperation between me and Sigit is not bound. We didn't sign any contracts, so he couldn't force me to accept all the clients that came. Our partnership is based on trust. Sigit promised to only introduce me to men who would meet all the conditions I applied for. Therefore, I will stop that very second if there is a client who does not respect me. And Sigit can't sue me and must pay my services.

This job is very risky, I know that. But I can defend myself as long as my client doesn't bring dozens of men with him. And this is where the trust between me and Sigit is tested. He made sure my client was a good person. On the other hand, I try to do my job according to his agreement with the client.

My phone is shaking, I see the screen is on. Scytes. I sighed softly before answering the incoming call from her. “Ya,” my brief.

“What's up? Are you sick?” he asked with a worried tone, I was quite surprised to hear that. He never worried about me. “It's been two weeks and you rejected all the clients who came. You are just on leave or do you decide to stop?”

“I'm preparing my research proposal, Sigit. Maybe you forgot. Starting from next semester, I was a final-level student. I have to finish the proposal seminar at the end of this semester so that in the next semester I can work on my script,” I replied.

“So, what should I do? Did I stop promoting your services in my social medics? How long do you need for a short break?” ask Sigit.

“For the next three months, suspend all ads about me. After that, I'll tell you again. I really need to be done right away, Sigit. That way, I can concentrate more on working.”

“What do you mean, this will be your job for the next?” There was a hopeful tone to his voice. Bizarrely. Was he so naive as to think that anyone would want to work like this for the rest of his life? Why would I go to college if I wanted to make money this way?

“Will we talk later,” I said without promising anything.

“Although I am not happy with your decision, fine. It's up to you. But don't be angry if I send a message if there is a client who is willing to pay for your services with a price. Who knows you will answer yes,” he said half teasingly.

So that the conversation does not get longer, I just agree with the sentence. The phone call ended after we said our greetings. I sighed loudly and looked at the digital clock on the top of the phone screen. It's a long day, but I don't have anything to do today.

Usually I accompany clients to pretend to be their day lover. So, I have activity from morning till night. Initially, I planned to work on the concept of my proposal. But my mind can't get far from Om Edu and Aunt Lindsey. I can't wait to give you my sample to know our kinship relationship.

If I had accidentally met Hadi in this place, I could have asked him many things. But a young man like him would not have liked to be in this crowd if not for being forced. He is the type who prefers to spend his time with his family.

“Mila?” Someone called my name from behind. Unfortunately, the voice belonged to a woman, not a man. “Iya, right. You Mila.”

“Pak Foster, Ms. Foster,” greet me politely. I have no more love or sympathy for them. Only the respect of a child they once raised. Which shouldn't be necessary, because I've paid for everything they've spent and done for me.

“Do not behave like this. We are not strangers.” Foster's mother smiled sadly. He looked around us. “You are alone or come with friends?”

“Self. I just want to find a place to eat that is not too crowded,” I replied honestly. They exchanged looks. I used that opportunity to see their appearance. It seemed like there was a special event so they performed in official clothes.

“Inchance, we will also eat snacks while waiting for dinner.” Foster's mother glanced at her husband who nodded in agreement. “Rather than eating alone, how about you eat with us? Don't worry about the bills. We will pay for each food according to our agreement.”

There was an incident on the day I paid the amount of money they referred to as the money they used to raise and care for me from childhood. Reese made a fuss with the waiter who brought the bill to our table and requested that my order be separated. The woman asked us to separate the bills themselves, because they couldn't make two bonds. Reese, who did not like it when her request was rejected, protested loudly, so I paid for everything.

From that day on, he determined that if there was a certain event where I had to eat with them, then I would have to pay for my own food. Things I immediately agreed to. I also would not be called a beggar because I could pay for my own food.

“I had to refuse, Mom. Thank you.” Hearing the sentence of paying for my own food, I knew that Reese would come to eat with them. I don't want to ruin my own mood dealing with him. “Oh. Today is Miss Foster's birthday!”

The woman smiled happily. “I don't think you'll remember. Therefore, please, do not refuse. I want us to get together again. Just eating together. Reese won't be here until about two hours. We still have time to talk. I beg.”

I give up and invite those who choose a place. That way, they wouldn't choose a place that Reese could go to. We chose a cafe that provides the main menu and snacks. Since it wasn't dinner yet, there was still an empty table for us.

They told me about the state of the house after I wasn't around. I didn't care much when they said they lost me. That sentence sounded insincere as they were silent as I was chased out by their own daughter from home.

When they told me about Reese, I could hear there was a proud tone to their voice every time I mentioned her name. She is currently considering modeling internationally. I don't see the possibility that it would be open to him if he still had the character he showed in front of me and Hadi.

When they ask me about my life, I answer only how I am. I did not tell them that I was currently preparing to do the final task. I also did not open my mouth about my plans to find my parents or the possibility that they had been near us all along.

After eating, we paid our bills. We deliberately did not sit for long because there was already a queue of people who also wanted to eat. They had already booked a place in the restaurant where they would celebrate the birthday of Mother Foster the three alone. So, they are not worried about not getting a table.

I said goodbye to them as soon as we were outside the cafe. Foster's mother extended her hand, but I politely declined. Reese doesn't like to see me familiar with her parents. Whether he is around us or not, I keep my distance from them.

“Basic thief! How dare you approach my parents when I'm not with them!” I felt such a strong push from behind me as I just stepped foot. I lost my balance and in front of me was a waiter carrying trays.
