Stains In Love
Birthday Anniversary

“How is the continuation of our contract with company X. Have they told you?” ask Davin.

Stella nodded. “Already, Sir. They asked to be scheduled to meet with you as soon as possible to discuss the continuation of the contract,” Stella replied.

Davin narrowed his eyes, making Stella look at him confused.

“Didn't I tell you that we're alone don't need to be too formal?” ask Davin. He folded his arms in front of his chest, a sign that he did not like Stella's attitude.

Stella laughed crisply. “I just want to keep looking professional in the office, Vin,” reply Stella.

Several months have passed since the day Feby and Garry left Stella's life. After that day, Davin and Stella often spend time together. Back then, as Stella was beset with guilt, Davin was always by Stella's side to reassure the woman that she didn't need to feel guilty. This is a new window to their friendship.

Although Stella still seems to be limiting herself, Stella and Davin's relationship is improving. Stella has now begun to accept the presence of Davin in her life. Stella was even familiar with Davin.

“Oh, okay, Mrs Stella. Then, what's my schedule after this?”

Davin's question invites Stella's smile. The woman smiled amusedly at the man before her.

“An hour you have a meeting with the directors of the company.  Oh, don't forget later tonight you have a dinner appointment with one of the clients,” explains Stella elaborates Davin's schedule today.

“Promise dinner?”

Davin frowned. He had absolutely no recollection of having a dinner appointment with one of his clients. The man rubbed his chin, thinking for a moment about the dinner appointment.

“Iya, Sir. You one week ago asked me to set up a dinner schedule. Did you forget?” stella's reply was confused.

“I remember that I had a dinner appointment. But, I don't remember if it was today,” said Davin.

Stella squinted her eyes. He felt strange about Davin's attitude because it was not usual for the man to forget the important schedules he had. Moreover, the appointment of this dinner with one of the important clients.

Drrt ... Drrt ....

The office phone rings. Stella immediately raised the call. While waiting for Stella to chat with the person who called, Davin again remembered about the dinner appointment he had.

“Pak, Mr. Glen's secretary just called and asked for your dinner schedule to be postponed because Mr. Glen had to travel abroad suddenly,” Stella said, relaying the gist of the call he just made.

“Good then!” exclaim Davin happy.

“Good?” stella didn't understand. He was more and more convinced that something was wrong with his boss. His boss was a little surprised and seemed to object to his schedule, now it looks happy.

“Ya .. good. I am so tired today, wanting to rest,” Davin said as he scratched his nape.

"really? Or is there something else?" stella asked full of questions.

"There's nothing that's important, I'm just tired and want to rest tonight" Davin replied trying to convince Stella.

*****

"I go first, yeah! I'm really tired today" said Davin, who came home from Stella.

Stella who saw it just nodded indifferently, although she was a little surprised by Davin's attitude, because usually as busy as Davin is, she almost always offered to drive Stella home.

Stella continued her work a little more finished, as the clock ticked at half-six in the afternoon, Stella walked out of the office.

Stella returns to her apartment in an office car that she can use with Davin's permission. Just as Stella arrives at her apartment, Stella gets a call from her parents.

"Hello, Ma."

"Hello baby, you just got home?" ask Dini with a voice that sounds so soothing.

"Yes, it's Papa."

"What's up, Ma?" stella asked again thinking there might be something her parents wanted to ask her. "If you ask me how I am, calm down. I'm good here" Stella chuckled.

"Thank God. Mom and Dad were happy to hear that. Then you just rest, mama called just want to make sure you are," said Dini before the call was cut off.

***

Several hours passed.

Stella blinked her eyes when she heard the knocking on the door. He turned his head to the side, staring at the wall clock that showed a time of twelve o'clock and three minutes.

“Who came in the middle of the night?” mumbled wondering.

Stella was reminded of something that seemed familiar and never happened. He recalled what date it was. His eyes were perfectly rounded when he remembered that today was his birthday. Stella jumped to her feet and hurriedly ran to the door.

"There's no way they are" he murmured.

Usually the ones who give him a surprise are Garry and Feby. These two people are no longer in his life. So, who's coming?

Just as she opened the door, Stella was surprised to find Davin standing in front of her room carrying a birthday cake with candles burning on it.

"Davin!" he whispered.

“Surprise!” davin exclaimed with a smile on his face.

“Stttt!” Stella placed her index finger in front of her lips, asking Davin to slow down the man's voice. “Do not be noisy, later anyone hears.”

Stella closed the door to her room. He pulled Davin's hand and took the man to a small garden around the apartment. There, they sit in a chair to celebrate Stella's birthday.

"Where do you know my birthday?" ask Stella.

"Don't pretend to be stupid. You know if I know everything about you." Davin pinched Stella's gaunt cheek.

“Come, blow the candle,” pinta Davin, worried that the candle will run out because he had lit it from before knocking on Stella's room door.

“Good.”

Stella nodded her head. He closed his eyes, said a prayer, and blew out the burning candles.

“Now, try the cake. I made it myself,” Davin said as he handed a cake knife to Stella.

“You made it yourself?” stella doesn't believe it.

Davin scratched his non-itchy head. “Iya. Therefore, I was happy because the dinner appointment with the client was canceled. Because I want to prepare a birthday surprise for you,” explained Davin.

"Because of me?" said Stella who responded Davin with a nod of the head.

Stella looked at Davin with tears welling up in her eyes. He felt overwhelmed by Davin's attitude which he now considers his friend if out of work. The man actually became best friends for her after a friend she trusted so much betrayed her.

“Thank you, Dav. I'm happy to see you" he said, beginning to drip between happy and sad to remember everything that's happened.

Davin wiped Stella's tears. "No no no, I don't want to see you cry. It's your happy day, let's smile!"

Stella smiled cutting the cake and gave Davin her first piece. "For you, my best friend" he said.
