Eight o'clock the new Doni comes. He greeted me and Mila at the reception desk.
"Good morning, sir" I and Mila said as they stood and bowed slightly.
"Morning too. Aryani, come to my room" Doni told me.
"Well, sir" I said. Then I went around the reception desk and followed Doni into his room.
Doni opened the door and told me to sit on the sofa in the room. He also sat next to me.
"What time did you come?" ask Doni.
"Jam six, sir" I answered, still calling him father, because I thought it was still in working hours.
"No need to call sir, it's just the two of us here" said Doni. I smile. Apparently Doni still always considers me his friend even though my status is now his subordinate.
"Oh, yes. Sorry Don, I thought you were my boss" I said badly.
"Yes, but when we're just the two don't need to be formal" said Doni. I nodded in agreement. Because if it's just the two of you, I kind of regret calling him sir.
"Have you been briefed by Mr Budi?" ask Doni.
"Today, Don. He's been coming from this morning." I explained without saying that Mr. Budi continued to leave again after briefing me.
"OKAY. Hope you work here. All your files are already in the HRD section. Can I get your phone number?" said Doni.
I nodded then gave my phone number which was instantly saved on his phone.
"Thank you, Ar. You can go back to your place. I'll call again" said Doni.
Then he walked to his chair. I also walked out of his room.
I went back to the reception desk. Mila's still there.
"Is there a problem?" ask Mila looking at me.
"Nothing" I said flatly.
Then we were each engaged in activities, while occasionally chatting.
Our break hours will be alternating for lunch. Doni sent me a chat message.
(What time do you rest?) ask Doni in his chat.
(An hour more. Replace with Mila. He asked first) I replied.
(OKAY. You will go to my room. I ordered lunch. You have lunch in my room only)
I frowned. It's nice, lunch in the boss's comfortable room.
(OKAY. I'll be there when Mila comes back) I answer in the end.
Doni didn't reply, just read it. I put my phone back.
An hour later, Mila returned. He seems to be in a hurry.
"What's up, Mil?" my many.
"Ah, there's nothing" he replied. Then I decided to go to Doni's room.
Without suspecting anything, Mila nodded. I went to Doni's room.
Geck.
Geck.
Geck.
"Lake in!" Doni's voice told me to come in. I opened the door, then entered and Doni who was already sitting on the sofa told me to sit next to him.
"That was his lunch. We eat together, yes" said Doni.
I nodded and opened the package of food that Doni ordered.
I prepared one for him and one for me. We started eating while telling stories.
Doni told me that after graduating high school he went to college in another city.
He also apologized, as his phone was missing. Until he can no longer communicate with me.
"Are you married right away? I read in your CV, your status is married?" ask Doni.
"Not really. I had time to work also in a mobile store" I replied casually while enjoying my food.
"Do you have children?" I nodded, because my mouth was still full of food.
"One. It's only been a few months" I said after I swallowed my food.
"Owh. Still baby. Why do you stay at work? Who was she at home with?" doni asked while looking at me.
"There's a maid looking after my son and husband" I replied without straining.
"Keeping your husband?" Doni frowned.
Because I was so excited to answer, I finally told him about my husband's condition.
I didn't want my friends to know the condition of my household, including Doni.
Let them know that Teguh is my husband. Because I am lazy to answer questions that will certainly widen everywhere. And I also do not like to be pitied by others.
"Owh, sorry. Very sorry for you, Ar" said Doni.
Don't we? People who hear stories about my husband will feel sorry for me. And I really don't like it.
"It's normal, Don. Thank God there are still his cousin's brother who wants to take care of him" I said.
"Where do you live now?" ask Doni again.
"At my in-laws' house. They've all died. My husband's house in the Indah housing complex, I live. There will be no one to help take care of my husband" I said.
Doni nodded in understanding. Then he told me about his life without me asking and asking.
"I got married before I finished college." Doni started his story. I listened without asking anything.
"She, sorry, was pregnant because we were both khilaf. We were eventually married by her family. My parents strongly disagreed even though they knew it was my fault to impregnate people's children" Doni continued.
I was surprised to hear Doni's story. Because all I know, Doni is not the kind of jerk who likes to do outside the rules.
When we were dating, Doni kissed me once. Though many opportunities if Doni jerk.
Because at my grandmother's house, it's quiet. Grandma often went to school or to her relatives' house.
I looked at Doni, and he continued his story.
"I had to marry her without the blessing of my parents. Then they stopped my tuition." Doni sighed. I'll get him a drink.
"My parents gave me a choice, marry or go back to them. I chose to stay married because I had to take responsibility for what I did" Doni continued.
"Sorry Don, why don't they agree? Are you going to have children?" my many.
"My parents knew my wife's family. And they know that my wife's family is a family that..fuck" said Doni lirih.
I dare not ask about the misfortune of his family-in-law. Because it's not my domain anymore.
"I stick to my will and my parents stick to their decision. Then they stopped my tuition, including my living expenses." Doni. Then continue the story again.
"I ended up going to college at the expense of my wife's family. But I also work part-time, because I don't want to put my life entirely on them."
"At the age of four months, she fell from her parents' household and miscarried. Until now she has not been able to get pregnant again, because according to doctors, the womb is weak."
"After I finished college, I started working at this hotel. The hotel belongs to my friend. Since he was unwilling to continue the leadership here, he entrusted it to me." Doni finished his story.
"Your marriage?" my many.
"We live apart. I rented a house to live independently. But unfortunately he didn't want to stay with me" Doni replied.
"Why?" my many.
"The whole story, Ar. I'll call back sometime. Now go back to your place."
Doni told me to go back to my place because I had been in his room for almost an hour. And our lunch was done.
I cleaned up our former lunch before leaving the room.
"I'm back first, Don" I said. Doni nodded his head. His face looks sad.
It turns out that Doni's life story is more depressing than mine.
