My brother-in-law My husband

My brother-in-law My husband
Chapter 44

Catherine went to her mother's house.

It was her home before, but now that her sister and sister-in-law live with their mother, Catherine cannot call it home.

Because her sister always put on a sour look every time she was there, as if she was not welcomed in her own home, where she grew up.

Catherine arrived and looked at her house from across the street. He clenched his grip on the steering wheel and opened the car door.

He pressed the bell a few times until the door opened.

He thought he would meet his mother, but his sister instead greeted him with a sour mood.

"Why are you here?" Chelsea—his sister, asked.

Chelsea and Catherine's age difference is only a year, with Chelsea being older. They had a strong brotherly bond when they were young, until Catherine was accepted on a scholarship to her High School.

They go to a separate high school, and all ties of brotherhood just disappear, with Chelsea bitter over her scholarship, and a relationship with Marcell that ends in marriage.

"Are you here to drive Amanda back? Oh, come on, is it hard to take care of one girl?" Chelsea sneered, but Catherine did not care about his words. He simply smiled and replied politely;

"There's something I want to talk to you about" Catherine said. He avoided Chelsea and walked around his old house leisurely.

Chelsea clicked her tongue in annoyance, "If you want to meet Mom, she's in her room."

"Ah, thank you, brother. By the way, where's my niece?" Catherine calls the son of her sister.

She has four sons, all younger than Amanda, so they all look like older sisters.

"With their father" replied Chelsea.

"What's? Do you want to say I'm not a good mother because I don't pay attention to them 24 hours?"

"Well, I'm not lucky enough to be the wife of a rich man like you. All you got to do is sit down and play with your daughter, right? You don't have to worry about money."

"I never said that." replied Catherine.

He's hurt, of course. But he was actually already used to his sister's harsh words. At least when given the same menu over and over again, you will get used to it, even a little bored.

"I'm. I'm gonna go to Mom's room now. Speak later, sister," Catherine did not want to hear Chelsea's annoying rant at the moment because she had something much more problematic waiting for her.

Catherine knocked on the room door twice before pushing it slowly. He saw his mother, Anna, sitting while watching the TV channel randomly.

She looked towards Catherine, and her expression instantly turned worried, "Catherine, sit down beside me. I need to hear your problem."

"Mother…"

Catherine entered the room and closed the door. He sat right next to Anna, waiting to be interrogated by her mother.

Anna gently placed her hand over her daughter's hand on the armrest and asked, "Catherine. Can you tell me?"

"That's not a problem anymore, ma'am," Catherine replied. He was terrified, so frightened that his body became stiff. He curled his toes inside his shoes as well.

"Not a problem anymore? Really true?" Anna is aware of a big problem in her daughter's marriage, and she wants to know the details before making a fair judgment. "You should tell me, Catherine. I'm yourmother. I'll understand you."

"Well, it doesn't matter anymore because it's done. It's over," Catherine replied, not wanting to drag on again.

He felt so guilty just by looking at his mother's worried face. "I. I've filed for divorce…."

Catherine lowered her head. At least he would gasp, followed by an expression more shocked than his mother.

Catherine waited for all sorts of questions to come from her mother. Because his mother was the first supporter of his relationship with Marcell. In fact, Anna was the first to say that she and Marcell should get married soon.

She saw Anna Anderson—her mother, sighing sadly, "Catherine, are you cheating on Marcell?"

"What?" Catherine thought she heard wrong.

No, he must have heard wrong. How could his mother accuse him of cheating! He is the one who suffers here!

"Catherine, you're a learned woman. You have to know what is right and wrong. I'm not a university graduate, but I know cheating is wrong."

"I don't know why you're doing this to your beautiful family" Anna said. Her tone was actually slightly lowered Catherine's ears.

Catherine felt weak from head to toe. He looked at his mother, who did not seem surprised by the divorce.

In fact, Anna's eyes were extremely cold as she looked at him, as if she was looking at dead meat.

"I—Not me. I'm not cheating—"

"Stop your bullshit, Catherine. I know what's going on" Anna said. All of his gentleness suddenly disappeared, leaving only the shell of the woman filled with hatred.

"… Mother?"

"Don't call me mother with your dirty mouth. Your mouth used to suck other men's money, right?" anna said cruelly. Catherine had never seen her mother like this in her entire life.

He was always so gentle and full of hope. Although a single mother, she did a lot of work in the past to meet the needs of the three of them.

She never remarried after the divorce because her husband was a cheating bastard. So Catherine and Chelsea grew up fatherless, with only their mother supporting them.

So Catherine idolized her hardworking mother.

But now, everything was shattered right before his eyes. Because his beloved mother—who was already sixty years old, glared at him without mercy.

"I heard everything from Marcell. He came this morning. He looks shabby and sad. You really have ruined a good husband like him" Anna said mercilessly.

"He told me what you did with the gardener, the driver, the security. You're dating them all, right?!"

"I—aku—aku—" Catherine couldn't even mutter a word to defend herself.

His entire body began to tremble as his mother continuously gave him ridiculing gazes filled with ridicule and fury. She looked at Catherine as if her daughter was worthless at all.

"And now that she learned everything, you filed for divorce to get her money?! You're a despicable whore!"

"I didn't know I'd raised a prostitute my whole life! All my hard work to raise you to be a good woman, and this is what you gave me?!"

"LORD, I'VE RAISED A WHORE!"

Anna continued to berate Catherine, venting all of her anger and frustration that suddenly exploded out of nowhere. She couldn't contain her anger when Catherine acted so sad and pitiful, while she was the one cheating on her husband!

Catherine was too shocked and frightened at the same time. He was still trying to recover from his shock. He tried to form a single word but could not.

Therefore, he only looked at his mother with the eyes of a doe, full of fear mixed with confusion.

Anna was already angry at Catherine, and now that Catherine kept looking at her, trying to gain her compassion, she could not help it anymore.

Therefore, he decided to get up from the chair before standing right in front of Catherine;

"You're really mean, Catherine! I thought you would tell the truth about your adultery and sincerely apologize to Marcell. But you filed for divorce!"

"I—I'm not cheating. Ma'am, I didn't betray you at all! He!" Catherine gets an injection of courage when her mother calls her an adulterer. But what he got was…

SLAP UP!
