My brother-in-law My husband

My brother-in-law My husband
Chapter 10

"What— Catherine Sebastian?!" the secretary panicked. Catherine even heard louder keyboard typing, and the secretary's voice became more melodious than before.

"Mrs Catherine Gray, Mr Phoenix Sebastian's sister-in-law?"

"Yes." Yeah."

"A—Alright, miss Sebastian. You can come whenever you want. Do you need a car to pick you up?"

"Eh? T—No, I can come alone."

"OK, the address—"

The secretary gave the office address, even though Catherine already knew about it. After they spoke, the secretary asked if Catherine would come today, and she replied yes.

"Okay, Miss Catherine Sebastian, I'll be waiting for your arrival in the lobby."

"Isn't that a little... is it too much?" Catherine wondered.

Marcell also owned several companies, and in her main company, Catherine was free to use her private elevator to reach Marcell's office.

But none of Marcell's secretaries would wait in the lobby like Marco's secretary did to him.

"Absolutely not, miss Sebastian. It's just the way we operate."

"Uhm, okay.I'll probably be here at about nine" said Catherine.

"Okay, I'll wait, Miss Catherine Sebastian."

Connection interrupted.

Catherine ordered a taxi and walked in. He looked along the way.

'Maybe Marco was expecting me?'

'Well, that's impossible. He's too busy for that.'

The car stopped in front of the office. Catherine went down and looked at the tall building in front of her.

He tightened his bag and walked in.

He saw a beautiful woman with short hair and a slender blazer already standing in the middle of the lobby. She might be in her mid-twenties and have a signboard on her chest.

the Diamond J.

Secretaries.

Diamond immediately approached Catherine and extended her hand, "Good morning, Miss Sebastian. My name is Diamond. I'm the secretary you spoke to on the phone earlier."

Catherine received the handshake, "I'm Catherine. Sebastian."

"Yes, please follow me, Miss Sebastian."

Diamond took Catherine to a private elevator, and they went to the top of the office building. Diamond took him to a spacious office, bigger than Marcell's office, for some reason. There is also a wide glass panel that shows the view of the city below.

"Please sit down, Miss Sebastian. Do you want tea or coffee?"

"Mr Phoenix Sebastian is in a meeting now, but he will be available in about twenty minutes. Please sit patiently, don't touch anything."

Catherine nodded, and finally Diamond left her alone in this office.

Catherine sat down for a moment and looked around. His office was spacious, decorated with beautiful ornaments such as expensive and strange paintings, some artistic sculptures that he did not understand.

But the main attraction in his eyes was a door in the corner of the room. It was a beautifully carved door, complete with the fingerprint door lock. He had this unpleasant feeling as he continued to stare.

His imagination started to run wild, thinking Marco might be hiding something crazy there. No member of the family knows what Marco is doing other than everything he is told on social media. Many people, including Marcell, say that Marco has so many secrets that they do not know.

'He ... he didn't keep the corpse inside, did he?' Catherine thought of many crazy ideas. He got up, wanting to check the carved door. But before he could take a single step towards the carved door, he heard a voice from behind;

"I thought my secretary told you to sit and wait, Sister-in-law."

Catherine heard a voice from behind. He turned his head and froze on the spot when he saw Marco Phoenix Sebastian standing at the open door.

"Ah, I'm sorry, Marco. I just...just…." Catherine's tongue is muddy now that she's nervous. He wasn't sure how to make it less awkward when Marco caught him scribbling the room, even wanting to check the door.

Marco looked at her with a smile, but his eyes looked dangerously at Catherine, making sure that Catherine did not move an inch from her position, "Sit down, and I will talk to you."

"Y—Ya!" Catherine reacted spontaneously. He sat down on the chair again and heard Marco's steady pace as he walked past him. Marco sat on the opposite seat, just inches away from his chair.

She leaned against the backrest and crossed her legs while looking at Catherine with a brooding look, a gaze that made Catherine feel even more nervous than before.

Marco was still wearing his suit, with his short hair combed back. He wears glasses at work. Marco still smiled faintly as he opened his mouth, "I'm glad you called, Brother-in-law. We haven't talked in a long time, have we?"

"K—You can call me by my name…." Catherine said as she felt awkward as Marco kept calling her by calling her sister-in-law.

They had been unrelated for many years, even more than ten years. So it felt a bit awkward for her to continue calling him as sister-in-law.

In addition, Catherine would not be her brother-in-law after she divorced Marcell.

"No, I like to call you brother-in-law. It reminds me that you're married to my brother" Marco replied. Her faint smile disappeared for a moment before she smiled again, but her eyes darkened as she mentioned 'married.'

Catherine was uncomfortable talking about her marriage. He wanted to say that he was already in the process of divorce with Marcell.

'But I will ask for a job from Marco, Marcell's younger brother. Would he give me a job if he knew that I would leave Marcell?'

Catherine began to weigh the pros and cons of her decision and decided not to tell Marco about it.

He desperately needs a job. He doesn't care if Marco will fire him after knowing the truth. At least he could save a lot of money before that happened.

But of course, he has to play it safe, making sure Marco doesn't realize his despair too soon. Maybe a little chat will help.

"Marco, you're like.. a teenager when I last saw you before you left? Maybe you are around thirteen to fourteen years old? See how you've grown into a manly man!" Catherine praised Marco, hoping it would relax the CEO a bit.

But Marco did not react much. He simply grinned and replied, "Do I look handsome and big right now?"

"U—eh, yes, you are already big now, hahaha.." Catherine laughed awkwardly. He felt Marco's eyes were too focused on himself and his body, making him nervous and insecure. He lowered his head to avoid his gaze and examine his appearance.

'Am I wearing the wrong clothes? No, I'm wearing a long striped shirt and jeans. It shouldn't be too shabby.'

'Maybe he thinks I'm too old or ugly to work here. He was Marcell's brother, so he must have judged me from my body by now, just like Marcell used to do.'

"I am indeed a big man," Marco finally relaxed.

"Sister-in-law, what brings you here?"
