Slowly But Surely

I walked towards the classroom in a great hurry!! I'm afraid the teacher came in first from me. I hate the delay in taking lessons. That's why I always try to be on time at school.

“Tumben long Son?” liana asked me as I sat next to her.

“For this Dimas,” I replied in a whisper.

“Ha? Kog canaa?” liana asked with a bright face.

“Shortly, I'll clear. We learn first yes.” I said to Liana.

“OK..” Liana replied briefly.

The teacher starts the learning and we follow calmly every material taught by the teacher. After 2 hours following the bell lesson break ringing.

“Teeettttttttttt tetttttttt tetttttttttttttttttttttttt”

“Li, I do not eat well to perpus.” said I who was standing and moving away from my seat.

“Eh wait Son, I come.” said Liana while chasing me.

“You usually do not like to perbus, this tumben want to perpus.” said I was a little surprised to see Liana.

“Iya anyway, but today I am not hungry again.” Liana replied.

“Ohh yasudah!” answer me briefly.

“Ehh you why are you late? You said because of Dimass?” asked the curious Liana.

“Iyaa, indeed because of Dimas. Last time I walked in class Dimas spoke briefly,” answered me with an annoyed face.

“Ha? Talk what?” liana asked back with a surprised face.

“He wants to be friends with me he said Li.” I replied with a stalled step.

“Then you answer what?” ask Liana again.

“I said that within a week he can make me comfortable to be friends with him I accept him as a friend.” I replied with a little bit of a whet.

“You're crazy Son!” shouted Liana

Everyone caught us because of Liana's scream….

“Apaan sih Liana, shy around people.” I said in a slow tone.

“Iya abis her you are crazy sih.” said Liana.

“Crazy how?” ask Liana.

“You're trapping yourself!” liana said in an annoyed tone.

“Strap how?” I asked with confusion.

“Sonya, if you're comfortable with him you keep falling in love with him how are you? Are you ready to break your heart? Are you ready to lose all your dreams?” liana said with all the questions.

“Li, listen to me. You know I find it hard to be friends with other people, so it's unlikely that it's that easy for him to make me comfortable.” I replied.

“You're wrong Son, they've got tactics!” liana said firmly.

“Okey just gini deh, if someday I stuck in love you want to remind me continue to achieve my dreams? And not fully thinking of love?” I asked Liana.

“You don't have to ask Son, I will always remind you. Because I am your best friend.” Liana said with a look at me.

“uuuuhhh sayangggg...” I said while hugging Liana.

In the perpus we looked for the books we needed for some of our group assignments. After getting his book we went back to class and continued his next lesson which was sports. Usually, our sports lessons are outside of class. We were trained to play basketball, table tennis, and everything else, that was the thing I liked the most.

“Our children today are his sports lessons about basketball yes,” said the sports teacher.

“Good sir.” replied the students simultaneously.

“Yaudah, you change your clothes with sports clothes there.” said the gym teacher again.

All students get ready to change their clothes and then immediately gather on the basketball court. When playing basketball in divided into two teams, namely the women's team and the men's team who alternately play basketball. I was tired and sat down for a while on the side of the field. However, there was a hand that offered me a bottle of drink.

“You...” my surprised words.

“Nihh take it for you,” says Dimas.

Turns out it was Dimas he came to give me drinking water that was exhausted at the time.

“I see you are so exhausted! So I bought you some water!” said Dimas.

“Thank you Dim,” I replied with a small smile.

Dimas went to walk away from the place where I was sitting resting. Dimas was indeed a cold boy and not too much of a story. I don't understand why he wanted to be friends with me so much. I know he's very good, but I'm afraid to start a friendship with a guy.

Time passed, school hours ended and it was time to go home. I walked to the front of the market looking for public transport. Liana didn't come home with me because she had to follow my exkul today.

“Sonya, wait!!” call Dimas from a distance.

“Bome with me aja come,” invite Dimas who intend well to take me home.

“No need Dim, I can go home alone.” I said by refusing Dimas' invitation.

“Danger you go home alone,” replied Dimas who again persuaded me to want to go home with him.

“Sorry before, my parents just don't mind if I go home alone!” I said with a slightly irritated face and a snapping tone.

“I'm sorry I won't force you to come home with me.” said Dimas.

I stopped the car and went straight up. However, there was something that made me very surprised that Dimas followed me from behind until I got off the angkot in front of the market near home.

“You why the hell follow me continuess.” I said to Dimas.

“I just want to make sure, if you get home safely.” said Dimas clearly.

“You don't need to do that, I can take care of myself.” I said firmly.

“I want my friend to always be awake and fine.” said Dimas who walked away from me.

The first day, he showed that he was very serious about making friends with me. But I have to wait for 7 days first I don't want to rush with this. I have to remember what Liana said! I can't get caught up in this.

I entered the house and immediately took a shower because the day was getting late. The night is very dark and late but time still shows at 07:00 p.m. Father and mother have not come home from the office, he said they are overtime tonight until 12 pm just arrived home. I opened my window and saw the earth dripping on that night. The speck of water that falls gives one peace in my heart, the rain is the best way to reminisce with invisible tears.

“Haiiiii..” says Dimas from next door.

“Ehh you Dim!” I said with surprise.

“Why are you raining there?” ask Dimas.

“Like to be here, seeing the rain that falls makes the heart more calm" I said with eyes that keep staring at the rain.

“Ohhhh turns out you like rain,” said Dimas.

“Iya so deh, you yourself why open the window?” I'm back at Dimas.

“No papa, I saw you last time I was again by the window to look at the dark because of the rain. Try to pay attention to that,” said Dimas while pointing up at the sky.

“what's Dim?” my many.

“Thuu, behind the clouds. Although the sky is dark and rainy but there are still 1 star with a dim light behind the cloud.” said Dimas.

“Hem, yes well Dim,” I said by looking up at the sky.

“The star is one of 1000 other stars, which looks strong.” said Dimas.

“Haaa, kog is it?” ask the curious.

“Because the star is still able to emit its light even though the light is dim. When the rain comes,” said Dimas.

“Iya kayak you!” my spoken.

“You mean?” ask Dimas.

“Eemm no!” my spoken.

Dimas only returned my words with a smile. That night I spent time with him staring at the same sky but a different destination and was bounded by a wall of our house. I felt happy and forgot all the burdens that were on my mind that night.

“Son, it's night time to sleep.” said Dimas.

“Good night Dimas!” I said with a small smile.

“Night too Son!” replied Dimas with a sweet smile.

We closed our bedroom window and I rushed to rest as it was 10:00 p.m. Dad and mom must've gone home the night before I couldn't bear to wait until they got home. I fell asleep in my sleep.

I woke up at 05:00 in the morning and prepared for my usual activities. After that I went straight to school. Today I was escorted to school because I was in a hurry to not be late for class. Arriving at the school Dimas came to see me.

“Sonya. For you,” said Dimas while thrusting something at me.

“what is this?" ask me about Dimas.

“Little gift for you. Happy birthday...” said the sweet smiling Dimas.

“Who do you know my birthday from?” ask me who is curious.

“From your close friend,” said Dimas.

“Liana do you mean?” I said with a question back.

“Daddy is right once.” replied Dimas.

“Oh thank you for the gift yes Dim," I said to Dimas.

I walked away from Dimas and headed to class. Dimas very sincerely gave me a gift along with a happy birthday. While my father and mother don't remember at all on the day of my year. My mom and dad loved me very much, but they were also very busy with their business in the office. Sometimes there is never time for me. I always thought positively that this was all done by them just to be able to support our family.

I don't want to live like a bad boy even though I lack the affection of my parents. For me they are still the best for me and I must still achieve the best in my life to be happy for them. During the break I sat alone outside the classroom. Liana was sick and did not attend school today. I feel lonely without him here.
