Before we split up

Before we split up
Chapter - 08

A few minutes later, with wide eyes in awe, Ayunda stepped through the front door of the beach house in Pantai Mutiara, North Jakarta. Which they had lived together. The house has now become quite extraordinary because the Ocean has renovated it.

The ocean added three new floors. Steel, and glass extend from the front gate, down a lush private garden, towards a nearby stretch of beach sand. The architecture itself impressed very masculine—stern lines and open space, hanging stairs and stone floors. But the interior color and decoration impressed minimalist and rigid.

The color arrangement that adapts the ocean and sunset with contrast decorates each room and produces perfection that is very fitting. And the artworks on display are spectacular, blending ancient Eastern culture and modern European culture.

The main plan of the house is open concept, offering unobstructed sea views of the main entrance, living room, kitchen, as well as bar, with a few walled sectors on the left. Since this house was built on a graded ground, what should have been the ground floor at the front door was actually the second floor, producing the illusion as if its terrace was hovering over a vast ocean.

“This is amazing, Samudra.”

The ocean stood by the tall window and smiled. “There are better. Let me show you.”

After opening the latch one by one, the Ocean swung the wide glass panes ninety degrees away and turned the living room into a connection from the outside patio. The cool sea breeze rolled into the house, bringing the rumbling sound of the waves, and creating a cream-colored curve in the dance of light, motion, and soaring sounds.

Samudra was very proud and satisfied with the house he had renovated. “Pretty great, isn't it?”

Yep. Enough to make Ayunda itch to want to take off the hair on top of his head, then spread both arms and let the wind blow up to the back of his neck and make his clothes flutter. Instead of doing this, Ayunda just nodded in agreement while smiling sincerely. “Ya.”

“Kitchen, dining room, and living room are on the ground floor. My room's on the third floor. If you want to clean up, I'll show you the guest room.”

Downstairs, the Ocean opens the door at the very end on the left, revealing a sitting area, a full bathroom, a bedroom, and another spectacular wide sea view. Intrigued by the luxury of a room he felt was largely unused, Ayunda stepped to the back, and in keeping with her habit, he noticed every piece of art and elegant decor along the corridor. The Ocean collection is spectacular.

This bedroom is connected to the second lower terrace, which is partly shaded by the terrace at the top. While stepping to the window, Ayunda thought how the Ocean could finish every job with a view like this presented from every corner of the house.

Then Ayunda remembered. “You don't really live here, do you?”

The ocean stands leaning against the wall, arms crossed to the chest. “No. It's more of a secluded place. I spent most of my time in South Jakarta, but now I think we better be here, so as not to look.”

“You want to try to lock me up secretly?” Ayunda teased with a ignorant smile, fully aware that what the Ocean was doing for his own good. He is the one who will feel the loss if their relationship becomes public consumption. “Am I now your little secret?”

“True,” replied Samudra while laughing briefly. “My reputation will be ruined if they find out I have a wife who is still a child,"

“I am not a child, when we married I was twenty years old and now I am twenty-three." protested Ayunda.

The dark brown eyes of the Ocean were glued to Ayunda's lips, then turned towards the horizon.

“Ya, right" said Ayunda.

Those words were quite simple, but like a void, barren, just like something within his soul. Ayunda did not want to remember it, but without realizing it, the memories were present there. Memories are beautiful, bad, bitter, and heartbreaking. As it grew heavier and darker, the memories flooded him with emotions he no longer understood. Burdening his shoulders with the echoes of despair that almost took his life.

His vision blurred and he stepped back from the glass door, feeling the floor as if it was fragile and the world was slow.

“Ayunda!” The ocean drew near to Ayunda, one hand tightly holding Ayunda's upper arm, the other hand hugging her waist.

As Samudra embraced her body, Ayunda's consciousness returned in a jolt of breath when pressed against the impingement of the Ocean's chest. The strapping body of the Ocean embraces its body, until the pieces of memories that were once momentarily forgotten are now gathered together in a dangerously firm and gentle harmony.

The balance of his body returned and Ayunda also solidified his footing.

“I'm sorry,” Ayunda uttered it weakly, trying to free herself from the arm that was embracing her, but the Ocean continued to hold onto it quickly. “I'm fine.”

“Don't lie, I know you're not feeling well”

The ocean still holds Ayunda in an almost erotic embrace. Ayunda closed her eyes, but could still feel the heat of the hand on her body, as well as the body of the Ocean. He recalled when the hand moved over his body like they used to do. One hand catches, squeezing his chest, while the other hand slides further down at the base of his thigh.

'Oh my God, what am I thinking' Ayunda's inner.

“It seems, I was drunk traveling because I was not used to riding a helicopter.” said Ayunda.

“You need medicine?”

Heavy breathing rang out above his head, and with a sudden movement, the Ocean pulled Ayunda into his carriage and took him a few steps to the bed, then laid him down without a fight.

“Wait there!! I'll be back."
