Before we split up

Before we split up
Chapter - 07

With eyes fixed staring at the roof of the car, Ayunda shook her head, “You never change.”

“Everyone changes, Ayunda. And everyone stays the same.” The ocean took a deep breath, and let its head droop onto the back of the chair. “Only not easy to be able to see how it can happen.”

While straightening the back on the back of the chair, Ayunda thought about what the Ocean said, about the change between them.

Of course the Ocean was right, the man sitting next to her now was not the figure she saw when she let her mind search for the face of the husband figure in her memory. Back when he knew Samudra, he was a man who was relaxed and had a lot of time for him, but now the man was dressed neatly in a suit and tie, and had some important meetings.

But deep down in Ayunda's heart, the Ocean is forever the same man, evolving with boundless optimism and ideas. A visionary who had achieved success at a young age, was enthusiastic, and had a very gentle heart, making Ayunda's heart ache to remember the feeling of receiving all that treatment.

Ocean is now a billionaire, traveling the world on a luxury private jet, crossing the city in his personal helicopter. So awesome and cool. The rest of the world began to stand in line to offer him many things, but it was all just a success. The outer surface changes, as lines and wrinkles become more visible around the mouth and eyes.

What about the heart of the ocean? Ayunda doesn't know. There are some things that are clearly visible. The man was now louder, more heartless, cynical. But beyond that, Ayunda did not know him, and did not know if he really wanted to know him further.

Ayunda imagined the Ocean felt the same way.

A few years ago when he was twenty. Ayunda's wishes, hopes and dreams are very simple, and they all have to do with the Ocean. He hardly ever had a mind of his own at the time. Not even trying to figure out everything that's on him. She just wants to look beautiful, have fun, laugh, listen to music, party, and date. He enjoyed college, got good grades. But at once he had to accept the fact that circumstances required him to drop out of college and everything completely changed. When her parents find out that she has failed them, all the love and support that at that time had become the foundation of her life suddenly becomes selfless.

Ayunda was very grateful to Samudra for always being there for her. Stand beside him. The ocean gives her notice, loves her, and then marries her. He moved to Jakarta to pursue a career.

The ocean treats itself like gold, but Ayunda treats itself like some sort of burden of the Ocean's life, instead of an equal partner. Ayunda was so dependent on the Ocean that it was afraid to step out of the shadow of the Ocean. Ayunda loved Samudra so much that he convinced himself that the Ocean was the only thing he needed.

The pent-up anger also spread to the surface, making Ayunda turn her face guiltily. It's not fair to blame the Ocean for being the stupid one himself. Or because the Ocean has another life in reserve when the life they lead together is destroyed.

The ocean turned off his iPad, and then put it in a sling bag at his feet. “Listen Ayunda, if you want to room with me again, there's a guest room, you just use that room. But we have to solve this problem."

Guest rooms will not be enough. “But that's not the case, I need my own room, room to work," said Ayunda.

“You are on vacation,” Samudra replied calmly, although Ayunda did not miss the cold look in her eyes.

The ocean doesn't like to be disputed, and so far, that's what Ayunda has always done.

“But I have to stay in charge of my gallery, we will hold an exhibition in a little while.” Ayunda sighed to calm herself down and looked at the face of the Ocean to ask for understanding, but she only found undeniable constancy.

“I will prepare an office space for you at home.” The ocean pulled the phone out of her pocket and swept her thumb across the screen. “Tell me what you need, I'll get people to set it up”

“Hotel, Samudra.”

The ocean remains silent, this is a tactical move in a power-hitting game that Ayunda is not interested in playing. “You can always get your wish, right?”

The ocean looked at him, until the tension between them melted away.

“No, Ayunda. Not always.”

Ayunda will not give up, because it is related to self-control and self-esteem.
