The Jewel in My Heart

The Jewel in My Heart
Chapter 11

Anna was even more surprised. Secretly her eyes kept watching as her daughter played with strangers. Anna hides her smile as the stranger mimics animal voices with her mouth while holding alternately Nina's little dolls. Nina repeatedly laughed happily.

Anna occasionally glanced at the face of the stranger. There was no evil impression when the man laughed along with Nina. Perhaps where he came from, the man also had a family...

The time is fast until the clock shows eight o'clock at night.

"I'll go to bed first, if you're done watching, don't forget to turn off the television" Anna said as she led Nina who looked sleepy.

Just half way to the room suddenly the toddler turned towards the foreign man and kissed his cheek. As if nothing had happened, Nina walked herself into her room leaving the stranger fixated after getting a good-night kiss from a toddler.

Anna smiled sadly, all this time she had been trying to be a mother as well as a father to Nina but it seemed like it was not enough. Still far from enough because Nina looks happy there is a grown man in her house. A few days of staying together was enough for Nina to feel comfortable with the presence of the foreign man. Something strange according to Anna.

Nina had now been lulled in her dream, but Anna's mind was still in the clouds. She remembers when she was a little girl, Mama always accompanied her until she fell asleep. Then he would pretend to be fast asleep when Papa quietly entered his room and kissed his forehead gently. Anna's tears welled up, as an only child she did get all the affection from both her parents.

But that's not what makes her sad. What broke Anna's heart was that she had to be the one to cause her father's death. He misses them, he desperately wishes there was a miracle that could change everything. Anna is lonely, sad, and harua lives together with the guilt that haunts her.

Before her, Anna never expected how a baby could change her life. When Nina was first caught in the red, that was the moment Anna woke up, that was when the brink of Anna's consciousness opened wide.

Anna's life now does not belong to her, but her life also belongs to a tiny baby who is wriggling in her arms. If not him then who will protect this baby? if she keeps wailing then how can this baby eat?

Anna doesn't understand anything about babies, let alone how to raise a child. But he wants to learn, he will learn as much as he can and will not give up until anytime. Having children is a lifelong job.

And that's why Anna will keep trying. Though heavy, he would not complain. Anna had made a choice and she was aware of all the risks she had to face. Whatever will be, will be...

Anna knew she couldn't get everything she wanted, and she also felt embarrassed about having to complain. Hasn't he in his twenty years of life tasted happiness with the abundant affection of his parents? if now he should live life in a way that he does not want then he should be willing. Face it with your head raised and live it sincerely, because that is the only way humans can survive.

Anna yawned a few times as the drowsiness intensified its attack. Before drifting off into sleep Anna prays for Nina and for her, she also prays for her two parents to be quiet in nature there.
