CHAPTER 5 - FAMILY TALKS

our family will move to Bandung. Papa has already secured a contract. Not because you want to run away from problems, but to start a new life. In addition, papa does not want to trouble Om Herman continuously with the presence of our family.

I know Om Herman doesn't mind us hitching a ride in his house, but papa isn't the typical person who lingers at home for a long time, let alone inconveniencing and intruding on their family's privacy.

I am so glad we moved to Bandung. Honestly, I think I'm the one who might want to run away and forget all these weird problems. Besides, I started to get uncomfortable with Riko's view of me. Sometimes he would not stop glancing and staring at my face as our family gathered together.

I see even Lisa who really admires Riko. He likes to sit next to Riko and wrestle spoiled. Ah, I hope we get out of here soon.

"ka, what's your college? time to be left?" papa's question woke me up from my daydream.

"when you don't go to college." Papa was shocked.

"what?! why aren't you in college? I don't want you to stop going that way."

Papa seems to be very angry at me for taking his own decision not to go to college just yet.

"if it's only time off" I tried to muffle. "Later if the situation is conducive, then continue again. Besides, we have to skimp a lot in the meantime. Tuition fees are great, better for Lisa only. Least Lisa has to pass high school first."

Papa was silent, and I think papa harbored sadness, because he felt failed, unable to send his son to the highest level. I saw a look of disappointment on his face. My face is no longer young, and I've seen in recent days my papa looks older because it's facing all these problems.

How flowery and calm it feels to hear your mother talk like that. Suddenly I felt very trusted and I promised not to betray their trust.

"Then let Erika stay with us here. At least you don't have to worry." Om Herman who had just listened to us, finally spoke.

"alright. I leave Erika while you man. Tomorrow I, Widya, and Lisa will leave for Bandung. We've got a rented house and Elisha's been moved to the school branch there."

"Tomorrow morning, you come to the office. Bring the documents you have. What's gonna be easy." Riko looked at me while smiling.

why the hell is he always smiling that way, making the heart start pounding. (what's the noise pounding??)
