Crossing the World

Crossing the World
XLI - Earth (Karen)

The virtual world is built on the concept of actual world creation. In the beginning, virtual space was just bits of data that contained an infinite amount of data that had been compressed. Then, the AI deliberately corrupted those compression bits to make it spill the entire mess of data into the virtual space. Those data began to form bonds with each other, turning them into the basic space, time, and matter of the world. Billions of years later, all of that matter eventually formed clusters of stars that evolved around a giant black hole until a galaxy was created. After that, other galaxies formed and planets began to appear. Eventually single-celled life forms sprang up naturally, filling the habitable planet.

Yes, the virtual world we built follows the big bang theory.

The intelligent life forms there are not even regulated by the program. AI created them exactly the same as creatures that live in the real world. Each of them would not know that they were actually living inside a simulated world and the body they were moving about was just a network created through a quantum supercomputer program.

"Resimulation theory, huh? In theory, creating a simulation of the world is impossible. To calculate a 20-cael move in parallel for five seconds would require about one terabyte of RAM. Moreover, calculating one world in its entirety."

Yeah, I don't understand at all what he's muttering. What I caught from his words was just the impossibility of simulating the world.

"But you and your technology can do it!"

"Wow?!"

He spoke in a loud voice that surprised me. I almost fell out of my chair from his sudden scream.

"How do you do it?! Your technology could be proof that we actually live in a simulated world! We're all just a bunch of data on a computer!"

Can't be ... Is he crazy? Or did the effects of alcohol make him drunk? Living in a simulated world is ridiculous.

"I have to see it! I want to see how to kerjan-"

Tyraell did not have time to continue because the girl who resembled the antagonist - Rhea- - closed her mouth forcefully. The brunette girl thrashed, but could not escape from the clutches of Rhea's right hand which even looked like it did not expend all of its power.

It seems that the girl is not only his face that resembles an antagonist, but his strength also resembles the last king in a game. I have to be careful with him.

"I'm sorry we. When he's drunk, his personality will change a little." Nifa again bowed apologetically.

If you knew something like this would happen, why did you let him bring alcohol to a meeting like this?! Do you deliberately want to insult me and assume that our meeting is worthless?!

Well, let's hold the emotion for now.

I responded to her apology with just a smile and a slight tilt of the head. If I spoke, I was afraid my emotions would explode and end up cursing the three of them.

"I'll take over for the next conversation."

The person sitting opposite me right now is a girl named Nifa. Meanwhile, Rhea pulls Tyraell away towards their helicopter.

I don't know how much authority Nifa has in making decisions, but I'm grateful that madman was eventually replaced by her.

"First, what goals do you want to achieve by giving away VR technology to us for free?"

It would be a strange thing if I gave something extraordinary without expecting anything. They would be suspicious of such a decision. What I need from the earth is only water and the topic of water has been resolved some time ago. So, it's only natural that they have trouble guessing my goal of bringing VR to earth.

"Terraforming. I want to know how people in the virtual world are rebuilding a destroyed civilization and how humans are helping it."

Nifa slightly tilted her head after listening to my words. He seemed a little clueless as to what I was saying. I guess I should explain it in some detail for the girl to understand.

When I was about to explain it again in a much simpler language, the black-haired girl before me spoke first.

"You say it as if you're not human."

Hm? Isn't it clear that I'm not human?

"I come from a different dimension, completely unconnected to this dimension. I'm definitely not human."

In response to my words, Nifa sighed. He then explained something I had never considered before.

"Archeologists found that about 500,000 years ago there were two species of humans living on earth. The first species is Homo sapiens or us, and the second species is Neanderthals. However, unfortunately Neanderthals are extinct."

To be honest I haven't had time to read more about this, but it seems like information about Neanderthals is available on the internet because I once accidentally found it while browsing.

"Based on these findings, we agree on one thing. Creatures with upright posture and intelligence are the top peaks of evolution. We refer to creatures like this as 'connected to humanity'. You are eligible to fall into that category. Therefore, you are also a human being."

Oh? The concept is quite interesting. Human or not, I don't think it matters. So, let's accept what he's saying and continue the conversation.

I explained the concept of the virtual world to be built and what the earth side should give in return for the equipment. Nifa does not object to the rewards of world development data that Aura will take as long as it does not violate the privacy rights of users and guarantees about the security of the tools to be used. He also explained that his party would take care of all things - land, buildings, power supplies, employees, and so on - so that I did not have to bother to intervene.

The network and maintenance will be taken care of by Aura and VR shipments will be carried out from this island using cargo ships that will be provided by the company. The deployment across the island will be carried out by Palapa Inc's fleet and they will also cover all costs. What I need to do is just bring the VR unit that the AI assembled in the shelter to earth.

Discussing with Nifa turned out to be much easier when compared to Tyraell. This girl is professional and always uses polite and non-verbal language. Therefore, the discussion about VR that at first I thought would spend until the afternoon can be resolved in just over an hour.

Me and Nifa signed the agreed contract in writing and kept a copy of their respective documents. Aura also recorded when Nifa read out the contents of the contract and made sure that there was no mistake in it.

Yes, it should have been from the beginning that the government let Nifa represent them. Tyraell was probably chosen as a representative because of his cleverness. However, to be honest, his manners were inversely proportional to his knowledge. He is not fit to be a delegate.

"All right then. We will take the armor you previously used according to the agreement and I will personally come back along with a cargo ship thirty days from now." Nifa stood up from her chair and extended her right hand forward as a gesture to shake hands.

I nodded my head while showing a friendly smile towards him before standing up from my chair and shaking his right hand.

Civilization on earth will probably start to go in a different direction from now on. Let's see if we can maintain diplomatic relations like this forever or if someday we will engage in a dispute that leads one of us to destruction.

Looks like I should start learning about politics, world-scale war strategies, and good negotiation ways to not drift into their game anymore. Let's prioritize this too.

When the three of them left the island, I teleported to the shelter to report the results of the negotiations to the AI and asked him to start assembling the equipment we needed. However, when I got there, the AI told me something very interesting.
