Crossing the World

Crossing the World
XXXVII - World (Karen)

The sound of the rolling waves crashing into the breaking concrete of the waves is now earthy with the constant noise caused by a small helicopter about two kilometers from where I am. Still standing against the sun, I stared at the helicopter from behind the exoskeleton armor I was currently wearing. My forehead shriveled as I was confused by what I was seeing now.

"Their movements .. aren't they suspicious?"

I spoke slowly, hoping that Aura would give an explanation for what I was seeing right now.

The helicopter carrying the three strangers was indeed speeding normally at first, but it suddenly stopped approaching and only flew without heading anywhere for more than thirty minutes.

Are they watching us from a distance they think is safe? Or maybe they are preparing something to attack us? Well, an attack of any magnitude would not make me die instantly. So, I chose to keep quiet until they made another move.

"After reading the gestures and minor changes to the layout of facial muscle fibers as well as assessing body heat which I then compared with general data on human anatomy that I obtained through the internet, he said, one of them was stricken with anxiety and held something unpleasant."

Whahuh? What is Aura talking about? Was he willing to say that the reason behind why they were keeping their distance was because someone was feeling anxious? Isn't that too ridiculous to be true?

Let's ask you more details about this.

"You're sure they're not preparing something to confront us?"

"The possibilities other than what I just mentioned are close to zero percent. No other suspicious signs and no wireless communication transmission whatsoever between the helicopter and the people out there."

"In that case, who is experiencing anxiety?"

"I'll send you the details."

Right after Aura said that, a virtual image appeared right in front of me, featuring a brunette girl sitting quietly in her chair without showing any expression. Later, blue dots began to appear around her face accompanied by brief explanations of the changes in the muscle layout that slightly deviated from what they should be so that Aura concluded that the girl was feeling anxious and not snugly.

Aura's observation ability was arguably very accurate. So, I'll believe what he's saying for now. You see, I did not see any expression on the look on the girl's face.

"Also, I have quite important information about the anatomy of the bodies of the other two people."

Just now that I wanted to ask him what he wanted to tell me, the helicopter had started to come back closer and slowly lowered its altitude so I chose to put this matter aside for later. In just under five minutes, the small flying vehicle had landed well on the shore about two hundred meters from where I was, this resulted in a dust storm centered on the helicopter's propellers. The moment the engine shut down, the noise that had been bothering me had completely disappeared.

Someone who first came down was the white-robed girl who had the face of a villain in most romantic drama movies. His two black eyeballs looked at us sharply, as if trying to intimidate me and Aura.

The black-haired girl who was the pilot dropped to second. He was wearing a black shirt that peeked out from behind the black suit of the woman he was wearing. I didn't pay much attention to her appearance because my gaze was immediately fixed on what she was carrying.

The girl carried a gun in her right hand.

The one-handed arch sword with a length of about a meter he held just like that, revealing its blade that emitted a blood red color. At first glance there was nothing strange about the sword, but once the exoskeleton armor I was wearing started to automatically analyze against what I saw, I was a little surprised by the data I got.

[Aura, please analyze that sword]

Not long after my command, Aura began to transmit voice transmissions directly into my brain.

[Analysis complete. Material of blade; unknown. Endurance level; unknown. Sharpness level; level ten. Blade eye type; nano-electro]

Not likely. Can something like this be done on earth?

The material used to make the bar is not defined even by the Aura which clearly understands the periodic table of the elements well. This means only one thing, the blade is made of an unknown meteorite or a complex mixture of metals that would otherwise be impossible to exist on earth.

It is not only the material of its manufacture that makes me wary of it, its level of sharpness is even at the highest level. In comparison, the sharpest sword on earth was only at level two. Level five sharpness levels can cut steel as easily as splitting a banana stem. Level eight is already at a level where steel tastes like butter. A weapon with level ten sharpness was as sharp as the electromagnetic sword I used before against the ogres and fiend wolves. The armor I used even had a 43% chance of being pierced with such a weapon.

The nano-electro bar itself is a technique to sharpen the blades we use in the shelter. All swords that use this technology are named as electromagnetic swords. The principle is to create friction between atoms with nano-technology powered by power generated through the heat of the palm of the holder's hand. Atoms that rub against each other form blades similar to a chainsaw, but with vibrations that are hundreds of times faster. The result is a hot and unusually sharp blade. In the presence of a weapon like this, the diamond will be split like cutting a candle stick with hot metal.

He's dangerous. I can't stop watching that girl.

Finally the last man got off the helicopter and walked a little staggering like a drunk. He was carrying a silver rectangular suitcase that was thirty centimeters long, looking rather cautious while carrying it.

Is this guy drunk? Or did he get drunk on the vehicle so it ended up like this? Well, let's forget the reason behind why he staggered for now.

The three of them walked towards us, getting closer as time went on. I who was on guard due to the presence of a weapon I did not expect started to prepare to activate the plasma shield. If they start a suspicious movement, I will wear a plasma shield and immediately teleport to the shelter, leaving Aura who will shower them with a single legion of cyborgs.

Yeah, there should be nothing to worry about.

When they reached out to me, the brunette girl who had been walking the very back started to go ahead of the two, approached the wooden table that separated the two of us, then kept her suitcase on the table. He wore a friendly smile and showed no sign of hostility to us. Then, with a loud voice and a tone that described a hint of cheerfulness, he uttered a sentence that shocked me half to death.

"Yah~ for the opening greeting, I'll tell you something." Both of his palms were clinging onto the table as he turned his facial features into seriousness. "I'm not human."

What's?!

I who was shocked by his sudden remark immediately confirmed his truth to Aura through the wireless communicator.

At first Aura program has very limited features because the hardware that sustains it is not adequate all the features it has. However, ever since I transferred the Aura core to this island, almost all the features it has can be used without any problems. One of the main features of Aura is the polygraph or lie detector. The level of accuracy is no joke either. In short, it was almost impossible for one to lie to Aura.

That feature was the reason why I asked Aura to confirm the words of the girl before me. I wonder if he is telling the truth or if he is just bragging with joking intent to melt the atmosphere between us.

[There are no lies in his words. He's telling the truth]

When I heard the words Aura transmitted directly into my brain, I froze silently without knowing what to respond to.

This person ...he is probably the same as me, coming from a different dimension.
