Crossing the World

Crossing the World
XXVIII - Shelters (Karen)

"Didn't the situation suddenly become dire?"

That was the first sentence AI told me after I explained what I had experienced on earth some time ago. What did he expect me to say when he asked me something like that? Isn't it impossible for me to reply with the sentence, 'ah, not really. You're being too paranoid, and we're laughing together because of this not-so-funny joke?

"Of course it's bad. This is why I consulted you!"

I replied to her with an exasperated cry after thinking about the unfunny joke that had appeared in my head. Well, you could say that I was actually irritated by my own thoughts, but somehow I wanted to bestow all sorts of annoyances on the stupid machine that triggered this to happen.

AI didn't respond to my words for a few seconds. As usual, he must be predicting the future using his database. I hope there is a good solution to this problem.

"You better avoid it. It's too risky to come see such a person."

Well, I was expecting it. Even myself had almost decided to ignore his message. Hearing the same thing from the AI made my decision go round.

"Well, I won't respond to T-13 again if they reactivate it."

"The right choice. However, I don't understand why you didn't kill him. Though the opportunity to finish him off was wide open."

It's true that it would be easy for me to finish him off. I mean, he was recklessly in that room alone with the ancient robot I was controlling. No matter how stupid the robot was, a single blow to the head was enough to finish him off. Isn't he too careless?

"I don't mind doing it. Even so, as much as possible I do not want to kill someone carelessly. Its existence can trigger the development of Earth civilization. It would be a pity if he died now."

"This time I agree with your opinion. The problem now is that your appearance so far may have been successfully tracked. You better stop hanging around for the next few months."

AI's advice has a point, too. If I think back, my appearance is already known by various witnesses. Especially when it happened on the ship. They will clearly set their sights on me.

"Well, how else. I'll use cyborgs when I need something from the outside."

Our discussion of the matter some time ago was finished here. The next thing to be the subject of discussion is about the area explored by AI.

"The range of the transmitter tower has now reached a radius of nearly a hundred kilometers. I have also mapped, cultivated the soil, and started to grow mushrooms that I managed to genetically change."

Isn't that fast? I just gave you the mushroom yesterday and the AI has finished the adaptation process. He's really terrible. I'm grateful the program seems to be on the same side as me. If he becomes an enemy, the planet will be invaded by robots like in the movie Terminator, I Robot, The Matrix.

The AI report managed to make me grin with pleasure.

What he calls mutants are strange creatures that suck radiation to survive. Through the process of reconstruction at the quantum level, their organs can convert harmful radiation into oxygen, hydrogen, and calories. Hydrogen and oxygen are released into the air just like that while calories are used to sustain their lives.

How could something as absurd as this happen? I myself do not understand in detail. However, the outline can be understood very well.

According to AI, all the particles that make up the world come from the same element, cael. Cael is the smallest quantum element that makes up quantum particles. Uniquely, AI claims that the earth - the planet I have been visiting - is actually inside one of the cael. Yes, literally, cael can be said to be a parallel universe.

All sorts of things are arranged by cael. Water, fire, air, earth, radiation, light, even my own body were an infinite number of caelic piles. Therefore, if the radiation wave is successfully broken down at the quantum level and returns to cael, its arrangement can change to anything depending on the environmental conditions that affect it.

Concept like this. The radiation is broken down into caeles by mutant organs, then the cael is reshaped into oxygen, hydrogen, and calories. As a result, the radiation on the planet is decreasing and the composition of oxygen and hydrogen is increasing. Based on the chaos theory, these small changes have a much wider impact. For example, as oxygen and hydrogen increase, air pressure also rises. As the pressure rises, the solar radiation spreads more evenly. The temperature becomes more stable between day and night. And most importantly, there will be a natural hydrogen oxidation reaction that has the potential to cause water vapor.

Based on the data, killing mutants was a huge loss. This is the reason why until now I have never taken serious steps to exterminate mutants. If there is no specific reason, killing them is not allowed. But this time it was different. I have reason enough to finish off at least a small part of them.

"All right, I'm leaving right now. Prepare exoskeleton armor and electromagnetic swords. I'm not gonna use bullets this time."

I stretched my body and warmed up before teleporting twice towards the mission control center. As usual, if I did one jump, I would end up somewhere on earth. Therefore I activated my wireless teleporter twice in a row.

I connected my consciousness to the quantum computer before me and chose the exoskeleton unit that the AI had set up. The series I wear is a variation of the latest version that prioritizes agility and light weight. Even so, his body was not very fragile and the AI prepared various types of shields in exchange for weapons. Well ... This variant is a unit made specifically for close combat.

After I used the exoskeleton armor before me, the voice of AI sounded as if it was directly inside my head.

"All statistics are going well. You can survive for 8 hours. I'll guide you and show you the coordinates and maps of the mutants."

A digital map suddenly appeared before me. There were several red dots scattered on the map, showing the location of the mutants accurately. The red dots also feature rows of numbers that I directly fed into the wireless teleporter. Then, without even bothering to travel there, I activated the wireless teleporter twice in a row.

"Let's have some fun!"

My spirit is burning in welcoming the war against the mutants. I hope it doesn't end with anticlimax like it already does.
