Chapter 4: The Imperfect
I'm in my second month talking to a girl named Sarah. Every time I talk to him it feels like the burden on the chest is lifted and light.
He was always a good listener and especially his light and crisp laugh.
“Ah.. do I like her more than just a friend ? But we never met each other” my inner.
*ding*
As soon as the message on my phone came in. Apparently from Sarah. I still talk about my ex. However, she never took sides between me or Elizabeth even though she felt sad about Elizabeth leaving me.
I told Sarah besides Elizabeth to suddenly move out. She was also caught sleeping with my best friend after she moved out of the house we shared. Some of Elizabeth's stuff is still here, she never comes or asks. I wanted to throw it away just like the bitter memories he gave me.
*ding*
There was another message from Sarah.
“ Please don’t throw away that stuff.. maybe you can call her or text her and ask?”
“Maybe you can throw it away or donate it with her approval. what do you think?”
“ You are right. I will try to call her after this. And also please tell me more about you..”
“Okayyy... what do you want to know ?” ask Sarah.
I then asked him a few things like his favorite movies, the countries he wanted to visit, and a few other questions that were personal.
For two months I talked about a lot of what I knew about Sarah. For example, his favorite colors are orange, yellow mustard, and black; in addition he also likes to travel and enjoy the sunset, especially on the beach. His hobby is swimming, well of course he's one of the national swimming athletes. He is also good at diving and surfing. Not only that he is also good at playing piano, guitar, and gamelan. I didn't know what gamelan was until the afternoon before Sarah came home from school, she showed me some gamelan in her school music room. He played some musical instruments and he also sent out some videos as he played the instruments.
Still my favorite video when he plays the song Fur Elise, I can feel his emotions as he plays the song. Plus he played it with his eyes closed by a piece of cloth.
“ This girl is something!!! She is so impressive and smart” I said in my heart.
“ Well I guess new right eye, cause I have lazy eye. It's just inoperable because the problem is on it’s nerve since I was a baby. So I have to use contact lens, the gap or my right eye and left eye are too big. My left eye is normal.” he replied in a slightly sad tone and let out a long sigh.
“ One of my eye should be squint but thank God it’s not. well rare case doctor said ” he continued while smiling at the camera.
I was surprised that this child could still smile even though his gaze became a little sad. The other thing I know about him is he is energetic, very friendly and gentle in heart, his way of speaking to the point is also very interesting. Although he said more people around him prefer pleasantries and will be angry or offended if he is frank.
I just smiled and responded casually while being ridiculed.
“ Maybe cause you speak with so many bule, we are more straight forward” I replied while sneering.
“ I guess..... I don’t know hahahahaha or maybe I just watched too much holywood movies. It can be too, right?” he answered back with a big laugh.
“Sarah.. do you like me? Because I guess I like you more than just friends.”
“What?! Well I like you too... but don’t you feel ashamed that I’m not perfect?”
“ To be honest, I’m not I love you the way you are. whenver we talk. I just feel happy and warm inside. Feels like there are thousand and thousands of butterflies in my stomach. Will you be my girlfriend?”
“ I want to but you know....... we live so far away with each other” he replied with some hesitation.
“ I promise I will save up some money so I can see you super soon. So do you want to be my girlfriend?”
“ Hahahha I do..... Damn this is so quick but to be honest I feel that happy and warm feelings too. Thank you Hugo. I love you..” she replied with a sparkling smile.
“ I love you too Sarah. so girlfriend? Should I call you babe?”
“Sure babe” replied with a laugh.
