Chapter 18

Hafsah felt his cheeks spicy and his ears buzzing as a result of Ruqoyah's slap. Although not to cry, but his eyes glazed. Fortunately, Ali immediately protected him by hugging the frail body.

"Mother, if there's a problem talk carefully. No need to use violence like this. I don't want you to beat, slap, or physically assault my wife anymore" Ali said. His heart ached when he saw the woman he respected had slapped the woman he loved.

"He deserves to get it!" hardik Ruqoyah with a gaze full of anger until her eyeballs rounded large.

Hafsah himself did not know what made his mother-in-law do it. Usually Ruqoyah would berate her and mention what made her so angry. 

"Calm down, Mom. Istighfar!" ali's word to his mother.

"We are talking down below" Ali continued and carried Hafsah who was still in his arms.

Now the four of them had gathered in the front room. Although the time has shown at 22:05 they still feel sleepy. Hafsah sat beside Ali while Ruqoyah and Alika sat on the sofa opposite them only blocked by the table.

"Let me explain why I slapped my wife" said Ali, deliberately changing Hafsah's call by saying "my wife" by continuously so that his mother and sister realize that the woman is a part of him.

"Your wife has slandered your sister!" Ruqoyah said fiercely replying to her son's words.

Hafsah immediately glanced towards Alika, as she felt that saying nothing would make Alika or Ruqoyah angry and hurt. He also did not say anything to anyone else about the incident this afternoon.

"What slander has my wife spread about you Alika?" ali asked his sister with a full gaze to find out if his sister was honest or lying.

Alika looked down sharply so by her brother. However, he also could not be silent if he did not want his good name to be smeared.

"So when my college friends and I had lunch with Madam Hafsah. And it seems like Mbak has misunderstood me and my friend," replied Alika started her lie.

Hafsah frowned then glanced at Ali. So also with the man now turned his attention to the wife. Hafsah shook his head slowly and Ali held the woman's hand.

Ruqoyah who saw that could only catch her breath holding back her anger. His eyes that continued to glare at the couple barely blinked for a long time.

"Mbak Hafsah has told my friend to come to the house if he really wants to be in a relationship. We are just friends. He had bought me lunch as a thank you for helping to do the job from the lecturer," continued Alika still with his lie.

"Where is the fitnah laid out to you?" ali asked with a full glance at Alika.

"Romi was told by Mbak Hafsah to justify his relationship with me. While we both have nothing to do. Neither like each other, then why did Mbak Hafsah even told Romi to come to the house to meet with Brother. Of course he did not accept and was angry with me for allegedly setting him up and working with Mbak Hafsah to get him to marry me. I'm heartbroken to be accused of framing him for wanting his possessions" Alika cried.

"Based on barren women don't know themselves! You've already made Alika's good name smudged!" hardik Ruqoyah loudly and heard all the way out of the house.

In her heart Alika felt very happy because her mother believed in the story of her essay. Women who have been pregnant and gave birth to themselves also always support themselves.

"Kok, so that's the story. It's not you yourself saying that you and Romi are dating. Then, I asked Romi if it was really serious and committed in their relationship. If I'm serious I told you to come to the house to see Brother and Mother, to get blessing," explained Hafsah as he glanced at Ali and Ruqoyah in turns.

"Hey, village lady! You don't make up stories to defend yourself. Do not see Alika being alone with a man, then they must be married," Ruqoyah said while pointing at Hafsah.

His wife Ali was privileged in her heart because of the insults and accusations from her mother-in-law and sister-in-law. It was not the slightest bit in his heart and mind to slander Alika or create trouble for her.

"Have my sister told you repeatedly, keep your friendship distance with the men. So you can take care of yourself. If you go alone with a man, then others will think you and him have a special relationship" Ali said in an upset tone because his sister was difficult to advise.

Ali told everyone to go to bed because it was already midnight. He has to find out who Alika's friends are.

"Bang," Hafsah called out to Ali slowly.

"Yes" Ali replied as she laid her body down.

"There was actually something I wanted to talk about Alika a few days ago, but I haven't said it to you because I'm not sure myself" said Hafsah, who was still sitting on the bed.

Feeling this important talk then Ali was back to sit facing each other with his wife. The two stared at each other. Ali saw there was unrest from the look of Hafsah's eyes.

"Just tell me everything," concluded Ali.

Hafsah also opened his cellphone and showed several photos of Alika sent by Azizah to a few days ago. Then the photo that was kissing Romi and also the video that was taken by his friend was to be evidence.

Ali's look changed the face to hold back anger. It was obvious what he was feeling. The thirteen-minute video shows what really happened this afternoon.

"Don't get angry at Alika. Advise him carefully, as he is currently in a period of rebellion. He will definitely fight back and behave as he pleases. Do not let the situation he even more chaotic because of getting violence taught by Abang," said Hafsah.

Alika is now Ali's responsibility. He was in charge of caring for, educating, and financing his life.

"I was afraid that Alika would fall into an unrighteous association" continued Hafsah.

It is no secret that there are some students who offer themselves to striped men to get a lot of money. There are many reasons why they do this.

"How can you keep Alika? Brother's feelings often give him advice and always remind him to be able to take care of himself. If you see his behavior in these photos and videos, you feel like you have failed in educating and caring for Alika," said Ali with teary eyes.
