CHAPTER 4: FOUR
The morning was overcast, the sun covered with clouds, powerless to spread its rays. The wind blows slowly. I'm ready to meet Deni. I'm wearing a short-sleeved grey t-shirt and dark pants. My straight hair was neatly combed, the watch was clinging to my wrist. As I promised at school. Today is Sunday, weekend. That means vacation, playing video games.
In the front yard of his house, I looked up. May it not rain.
Right at 08:00 in the morning. I've arrived in front of Deni's house. The home page is wide. Courtyard with white pebbles. On the side, there are ornamental plants that are directly planted in the ground without flower pots. Ten minutes, Deni showed up.
“You dress up, Den?” I smiled, teased him.
“Eis, I just make sure the clothes match.” Deni. Reason that makes sense. He was wearing almost the same clothes as me. It's just that the t-shirts Deni wears are darker.
I smiled, once again looking up at the sky.
“Ayo departing. We will be rained on.” I took her, on the scooter.
Deni nods.
We crossed the empty road. The residents are spending holidays at the beach, camping in the forest, climbing a mountain, or going to a shopping mall. I can drive the scooter faster. Swerving fast around the corner like a racer, looking down on the straight path. Deni who was behind his back held on tightly. 15 minutes, we had reached the destination. I parked the scooter in a special place, of course with a special security system as well.
“That was cool, right?” I shrugged, asking for an opinion.
Deni just shook his head, an answer. That's outrageous. He let out a breath of relief. Going out on the streets, I can just drive a vehicle. What happens if they cross paths with a police patrol car. Deni believes, I definitely don't have a SIM. We should have taken a taxi from the beginning.
“Already, we're in now. Later even got in line at the back.” Deni had already forgotten his tension, taking me inside immediately.
The place we visited was a game console company, it was just a branch in the area. If it is in the center, it is bigger. We chose to come directly to the company where the game console is made, because the online game service provider does not yet have a console engine that was just released a few days ago it. But this place is not only for company employees, the public can visit it to test the game console they make. Visitor comments are very useful for the revised edition of the next game console.
“Honestly, I am very hot with VG 10 V.2.” Deni spoke all the way through the hallway inside the building. The place for visitors is on the most basic floor, precisely the basement.
The two-story building is actually quite spacious, on the ground floor (above the ground) is a factory assembling game console machines. Its components are routed from the company in the center. In this place, they just assemble it. To assemble a single game console, they took one week. Not because the console engine is too big, but because the engine components are very complicated. The size of VG 10 is only 30x20 cm. The second floor is where the employees work.
Deni and I have arrived at the door to the basement. At first, Deni thought the room was dark-walled with the shadow of many worms that passed on the walls of the room. Turns out he was wrong. The room was no different from the front room they passed through. The light bulbs lined up on the ceiling of the room lit up brightly, dismissing the dark notion of the basement.
“Keren.” Deni commented briefly, his head has been looked here and there. It turned out that there were already other visitors in the place, teenagers their age. Some of them are adults. The rest are service officers.
“Welcome. “ An officer greets me kindly, greeting Joni and Deni. “You're going to try that latest game console?”
Me and Deni nodded.
“Good. Follow me.” The officer raised his hand, taking me and Deni to follow him. Deni was still staring around. Sometimes I elbow him, he sometimes overdoes it in ill-fitting situations.
The console engine in that place counted nine pieces. Some of them already use.
Deni looked towards the officer. Only these?
“For now, we only have three games. But in the next few weeks the options will be many more. You will be able to play ball together in one game. No need to field in the stadium anymore.” The officer explained, as well as promotion.
“We will choose which one, Jon?” Deni looks confused.
I was silent for a moment, watching the screen in front of him.
“Other visitors mostly choose games that are number 1, although some choose the number 2.” Without question, the officer explained.
“Can we get a little explanation about these three games.” I finally spoke up.
“Well, that's what I'm waiting for from you guys. This has become my duty. Fine, I'll explain.” The officer cleared his throat several times before starting an explanation.
“No need for length, sir. We want to play.” soon Deni cut, almost the officer said his first word.
“OK.ok.. I know your spirit. The first game is about the war of five kingdoms, you can choose the kingdom that you will defend. Each kingdom has its own greatness. All right, I guess that's enough to explain the first game. I'm sure you guys have more than understood. Actually, the game is very simple. There is no professional level in the game, there is only a beginning and medium. The second game is about the adventure of collecting diamonds. Each group has two people. They can use any means in the game to get more diamonds. The winner will receive a special bonus from us. We keep it a secret because no one has won yet. The third game is a game about corruption. You can actually play this game with more people. In this game, you are tasked with combating corruption in several countries. The country you are heading to can only be entered by completing a themed quiz on numbers, summations and subtractions that you must complete. I wonder why no one chose this game. It's actually very interesting.” The officer ended his brief explanation.
“What is the name of the third game?” I'm interested in the third game, I used to hate corruption.
“CGA” The attendant replied briefly.
“CGA? What is it?” Deni's face was wrinkled.
“Corruption Graft Adventure's. Its main mission is to eradicate corruption.” The officer answered longer.
“Good. I've decided. We will choose the third game.” I'm so excited.
“You sure, Jon?” Deni.
I nodded steadily.
“Well, you agreed, right?” the officer turned to Deni. “For the beginning, we will guide you from the control room. The rest you can do yourself. Remember that! Do not hesitate to log out if you are having difficulties, safety should take precedence.”
Me and Deni nodded. We both exhaled slowly, trying to be as calm as possible.
“I'll press the button. You're preparing. Have fun.” The officer smiled. One second after that, the attendant pressed a button that was on the console machine. A portal with a swirling white edge appeared in front of me and Deni. At first it was small, growing longer. It was about the size of an adult. The officer stuck out his hand, glancing. Me and Deni came in. After we entered, the officer pressed the button again. The portal closed slowly. The officer then went to the control room, guiding my first activity and Deni in the game. A new adventure has begun.
