When looking at Rai, the first thing Aezar did was give him three full turns, scanning his body meticulously, afraid of missing the smallest wound. Even after making sure it was in one piece, he still asked, “You're okay?"
Rai remembered their first meeting and could not bear to roll his eyes. “I'm hungry!"
His answer made Aezar snort. He passed by in annoyance, checking the burning location with the two others. Unfortunately, the damaged part grew new shoots, covering the trail of fire. Aezar. "Who is bringing down rain?" This rain was too magical to be so troublesome. The magic trail disappeared.
He asked the three Warriors, who obediently reported the incident in detail. The victim is being treated by the medical department. His injury was completely healed, but he was still unconscious. Officers took him for a follow-up examination. Cessa, Kana, and Frigga must be on board as well, while Rai is represented by Andee. They are witnesses, however. Since the Northern border is under the authority of General Harding, then they will go to his barracks.
"What did you say?" Aezar glared, scaring Cessa who was instantly restrained on the ground.
"I'm sorry, Your Majesty, but that's the truth."
Andee. "That's right. The three of us and Miss Vanaheimr were witnesses."
Kana.
Aezar looked at his sister, who was standing quietly watching a group of soldiers preparing for departure on the available trains. This was not the first time she felt that something was wrong with her sister. Precisely, since in the Northwest, when Rai brought down Keyn and a group of undead by himself.
He did not personally see it, but Ace was there when it happened. If it wasn't his brother, he wouldn't believe it in the least.
The raid in the Northeast that left all the villagers of Paree dead horribly, became the shocking news that unsettled Paradis. Everyone knew the culprit was still wandering the streets so they were restless and frightened. Residents who live in remote corners choose to move to big cities, as well as the majority of workers and farmers in some areas, to be willing to leave the fields and agricultural land. Their region is the largest supplier of staple goods in Greenland. The Paradis economy was suddenly affected.
The queen was saddened that her beloved daughter had disappeared under her nose, but soon realized that crying for days did not bring her back. So personally, he asked Aezar to lead the search.
King Valazar had no choice. Paradis is threatened. This tragedy was a major event, while the perpetrator managed to escape unstoppable. This one affair is not yet known at the tip of the base, but another matter soon follows; raina disappears! As if that wasn't enough, another news came quickly: Paradis is having an economic crisis!
The king got a series of attacks. In just one night, he felt that he was becoming older than his own ancestors.
Although almost the entire army was deployed, the perpetrator and Raina were not found, even after a month, as if they disappeared in thin air.
Aezar, desperate, goes to the West to ask for her brother's help. Although Prince Ace had handed over command of Xi's forces to him, after so long there had been no results, Aezar did not feel enough. Afraid of any mistakes in his strategy, he wanted to seek advice directly from the experienced. Of the many leaders, her brother was the number one she trusted the most.
When he reached the Wetn Fortress, he languished because his brother was nowhere to be found. After a near-crazy wait one day and one night without eating and sleeping, she receives shocking news: Raina was found!
Aezar shook the envoy of Xi's army, Kit, until he nearly died from repeating the same message repeatedly. He so hurriedly went to the Main Fort in the West to report, skipping meals and drinking. His body was exhausted and his stomach was hungry. Now, his head was also dizzy to the point of making him want to vomit. He's languishing. Your Majesty, have mercy on you!
While Aezar receives the news, Prince Ace's small group is shocked by the existence of the undead in the Supala forest.
Ace is a master of wind elements. Without the patrol group though, he would always know that something was not right. Just then, when he heard the news that his sister was coming to visit, he detected dark magic in the air. Without wasting any time, with his two confidants, they darted to the Northwest. With the pegasus, they got there faster, but what they saw took Nex and Will by surprise.
The prince forbade them to land. Although the air froze the bones, the two were obedient on the back of the pegasus. While hovering in the night sky, they saw the living corpses standing still like statues in the depths of the forest, like they were waiting for something. To his surprise, they were not from the Alfar faction, but witches!
Evil spells flowed through the air. What are they doing in the borders of the Alfar region?
Ace had long suspected that the massacre in the Northeast had something to do with witches. The bodies of the villagers were exactly the same as the undead below. He had seen something like this somewhere else. However he knew there was some kind of method to resurrect the dead souls. The method was stored in secret in the Book of Ice. However, from what he understood, these living corpses were different. They're not perfect. What it lacks, Ace himself does not know. He had never seen such a legendary Book of Ice, let alone studied it. It just so happened that he had heard of it from an old friend.
Because they are not perfect, they are like dolls played by their owners. Who is the owner, Ace impatiently wanted to know immediately because he managed to infiltrate without sniffing. The only possibility, they were sneaking outside of his territory. Whereabouts?
He recalled the rumor that reported the attack in the Northeast, that villagers were slaughtered indiscriminately; parents and children were killed and cut, their body pieces were made into a welcome archway on the Paree hill; livestock and mounts were not missed, stringing their carcasses on the sides of the village driveway. Houses were burned, rice barns engulfed in flames.
The news was too terrifying to hear, so General Harding deployed a large army to the location. The state of the village was not as rumored, but all the residents were killed where they last stood. Without flesh and blood!
Surprisingly, the massacre happened just moments before General Harding's troops arrived. The bodies are new. A small patrol under the command of Lazarz, who was in the area, didn't even know the rumors existed!
Ace understood it clearly. The rumors are intentional! With the departure of General Harding, the guard of Kaler Fortress became slack. Could they have snuck up back then? When compared to the speed of the General's army, the magician had the advantage of teleportation spells, they only needed to mark certain points to open the portal. The question is, how do they do it? Unless someone leads them from within. Wh-wh-what for? Killing randomly with no purpose, sounds impossible in Ace's ears. So, there must be a reason. Whahuh?
As if giving him a hint, the undead group below moved towards the Xi army encampment. They were stumbling among the shrubs at waist level. Ace followed their movements from the sky, anticipating the next danger.
Whether anyone who controls the undead has a purpose. The terrible event happened just once, a month ago, and the perpetrator disappeared unnoticed. Tonight, he suddenly revealed his own existence after a long time. What does he want? What was he looking for in Xi's army?
Ice needles flashing the campground. The chaos of fighting and the sound of gunfights crashing into a chaotic night in the army barracks. The rain-calling melodies came overtaking, weakening the chaotic fight and suddenly one by one the men fell down.
Ace carried a flying pegasus over the forest entrance. From his position he could see the encampment, quite far away, but there was no intention of getting close. He knows they're not dead. He was waiting for the undead to come to reveal the owner. When he saw the rain caller standing there, Ace knew he had found the mastermind behind the massacre, but the presence of a little girl with a familiar face, who came out from behind a shield, was not there, almost made him fall.
Did Xi's army find him?
Ace saw him standing indifferently as the man attacked him. He was not even afraid to see everyone fall. Suddenly Ace realized something as clear as daylight.
Raina disappeared on the same day as the attack in the Northeast. No matter what, the assailant was nowhere to be found, but after a month had passed he appeared in the barracks of Xi's army when Raina was found. That person might attack him, but not with killing intent!
There's no mistaking it, that guy wants Raina!
So, he attacked the village as a decoy for the soldiers at Kaler just to kidnap him? Wh why? The effort he exerted was too risky. His hard work was not worth it for a little boy like him, who was not even talented at anything. What is he looking for in Raina?
The man suddenly fell. The undead, who were vying to break through the forest towards Xi's army, raised a magic wand, about to do something, he said, but suddenly a dark screech emerged from the void and threw all the undead flying into the depths of the darkest forest. When they fell to the ground, their bodies were torn apart and lying motionless. Chest perforated.
What the hell's going on? Who attacked?
Ace circulated a glance, but saw no one in the forest.
On the side, Will gasped in surprise. "That's impossible!" he said he couldn't believe it. His voice vibrates. Ace turned his head only to see his face as pale as rotten porridge.
"What's going on?" Rex watched everything and was made curious. Which strong person attacked without his presence known? Where is he hiding? As hard as he tried, he didn't see her anywhere. The Northwest Territories, bounded by forests and rivers, are gripping at night. Except for wild animals, there are no other signs of life out there. In the camp some distance away, Xi's army had fallen, all that was left was the little girl. How pity.
"Dreams," he replied trembling. "That's shadow magic!"
Only a handful of people mastered shadow magic. As far as Will knew, they were long dead. Shadow magic is a legend. However, tonight the legend appeared under his nose.
Will could not stop shaking.
Who's control?
Ace stunned. What kind of magic would make Will so scared? As powerful as witches are, Will always belittles them because he hates witches down to his bones. Will's reaction showed that he admitted this one. Ace saw the prowess as well, and found his hands sweating. What is this, I'm shaking?
The heavy air pressure made it tight!
Despite having met many powerful opponents, the new Prince had first encountered this kind of power. Only one punch! What the hell, even the assailant did not show his nose, but he was already sweating this much. What a terrible magic!
After the darkness he felt in the air gradually subsided, Ace decided to come down to take over the situation because the little boy could not possibly be relied upon to take care of Xi's army, which was lying on the ground like a corpse. However, suddenly a green light burst out from the darkness, barely blinding his eyes.
Raina stood there with her eyes closed and both hands stretched out. His lips muttered a melody he had not heard for a long time. Ace was glued to his place. Isn't that a healing poem? How did he know that song?
The three of them were stunned to see a green light flowing through the air, creeping towards every stiff body on the ground, enveloping it with life energy. The muscle-freezing poison and sleep magic were purified in an instant. Xi's army gradually wriggled awake. Rai lost his strength and plopped down on the ground, lying on his back staring at the night sky with relief imprinted on his young face.
"Wow!" Rex could only comment in awe, while Will frowned confusedly. Other than her fists, Raina's lack of talent became the talk of the entire city. How could he not know? Tonight he doubted that the news was true. Should he ask the boss?
Ace is immersed in his own world. His gaze settled on the little girl who was asleep on the ground. It's not wrong, she thought, it's healing magic! Certain alphars mastered healing magic, but none were that perfect. Once upon a time, there was one Clan who mastered it perfectly. Unfortunately, the Clan was already wiped out, and the only people left were long dead. Is it possible he ... Ace did not dare to think about it and jerked the bridle away from the camp abruptly. Nex and Will followed behind in confusion.
They passed Prince Aezar when morning came, but the First Prince did not stop for a moment. Seeing the ugly expression on her brother's face, Aezar did not ask much and continued on to Xi's army barracks. When he returned to the capital, he got a letter from him, asking him to come to Fort Wetn. There Ace recounts his inventions, including Raina's ability to appear so suddenly.
-
Now, this Warrior said that his sister had just called the rain.
Aezar will still be surprised even though his sister mastered trivial magic. After waiting for her sister to develop for so long, how happy it was to hear her discover her own magic talent! However, what appeared before him exceeded the limits of fairness. Aezar was overwhelmed by the news.
This rain cannot be called haphazard. The one who could call him was only an expert who forged his talent through the years. For the perfect rain that just fell even longer! Which expert master can teach him this short? It's Raina! That stubborn sister, who was a fool despite her magic talent was late coming all those years!
He watched her long enough. The little girl, when asked how she mastered healing magic, instead asked back innocently.
"How do you think I survived those bad guys?"
Aezar came to see him when he had just returned from the Wetn Fortress, his travelling robe still stuck to his shoulder. Maggie came in at the same time carrying a basket of fruit. "Jawab only," he said irritatedly. They sat in a chair by the open window. The hot air, as hot as his hard-earned head digested the shock after the surprise that came.
Rai's attention was distracted by the fruits that came. He immediately forgot about it and got closer to the table in the corner of the room, then sneezed. A rabbit jumped from his lap. His long ears twitched, snowballs happily looked around, then jumped to and fro. Sitting cross-legged in a chair, he peels oranges. Maggie clapped her hand. “Wash hands!”
Rai scowled, but did not argue. Lately Rai copied Raina's habits in life first, treating whatever she encountered, from large animals to small ones, even an ant can not be separated from his attention. His nose could not stand it, but he was addicted to magic. Just for a moment, he thought. But tomorrow he did it again.
Shade was irritated by his behavior, as he considered depleting energy and resources. They didn't talk to each other for three days. Now, it's a little quiet, though still as brief as usual.
Aezar let out a tired breath. "Well!"
After finishing the two oranges, he bit the apple and replied with a full mouth, "I met someone great."
"What does this have to do with it? He set you free?"
"Of course there is!" Rai has no idea how he escaped from the kidnapping and ended up in Xi's army barracks, lucky Shade gave him a little enlightenment. "He taught me some great things. Some of them, others .. I was trying out the magic of the explosion when I accidentally fell into the river and injured myself," he lied with a straight face.
Aezar looked at him suspiciously. "Who taught you?"
Nah. Rai knew they were going to get to this part, so had prepared an answer in advance. "You won't believe me."
"No, of course!" After a short pause, he forced, "Who?"
As if labeled an unfilial student for leaking the identity of his teacher, Rai put on a pitiful face, "You won't tell anyone, will you?"
"Depending on how good he is," Aezar underestimated.
Rai was not defeated, "He is amazing! You must be surprised to not be able to sleep! Sure, still want to know?"
"Well!"
Rai took a heavy breath, pretentious looking regretful for not being able to keep a secret. Looking around as if afraid of someone eavesdropping, he leaned over his body and said solemnly, "People call him Eins." His voice was small, barely audible. However, it managed to make Aezar turn his back. Rai was surprised to see his reaction as well. Don't tell me, he fell into his own lie? He thought no one knew his name! Lucky Eins is indeed a witch, so not too suspicious. Because of the responsibility, he made up beautifully, "I'm not sure if it's his real name or a mere title. He didn't want me to know anything else about him other than his name, I was even threatened to be a fox's meal if I dared to sell his name ...."
Surprisingly Aezar asked in astonishment, "What is he like?"
Who doesn't know Eins? His name is seantreo jagad! He led the vier-gene in a civil war two hundred years ago, attacked his own royal army and severed ties with Vanaheimr! He was touted as a hero of the revolution for daring to support a new race whose presence was opposed at the time. The vier-gene extermination decree became the forerunner underlying the bloody tragedy in the Land of Exile.
Long before the war broke out, Eins built his own community in an uninhabited area deep in the Western region, hidden behind mountains and hills, as well as the Forbidden Forest of Siergamus which is said to be the residence of ghosts and various mysterious wild animagus. The area became known as the Land of Exile after the owners moved to a Devil's island and established a large college there.
Eins disappeared shortly after, even his name was not heard when there was an attack on the Fog College in the Southeast by the combined forces of the Witch-Devil, resulting in a great defeat and loss on the part of the vier-gene. Eins's big name disappeared from circulation, but it was not just forgotten. His name became a noble legend among the Immigrants, and was recognized as a great figure by the Neighboring Kingdoms.
When that happened, children as big as Raina had just been born, it was only natural that they had never heard her name. Even if ever, it is only mentioned in old fairy tales at a glance. Aezar told the story fiery, as if he had experienced it himself.
Rai gaped in disbelief. That old grandma has a name this big? In her memory, Eins is Mae's grandmother, an elderly grandmother who spends her old days teasing the cats on the porch of her home. Sometimes, one day he would rush back to his house for forgetting to turn off the stove, the other day he blew up his kitchen. People were concerned that the senile old woman was living alone, and took turns reminding her of anything from time to time. Surprisingly, he always remembered to stand in the courtyard every morning and yell at her about trivial matters, like asking her to wear a watch!
When he remembered it now, after living in this world and getting to know Eins further, Rai felt his eyes wet. Eins protected her without her knowledge, but she wasn't even here for him to thank.
Rai recalled the day of the massacre and wondered, is he safe? Hearing Aezar tell her greatness made Rai slightly hopeful. Eins won't just give up, she'll definitely hold on!
He just needs to be patient and wait. When the time comes, at least after this affair is over, he himself will look for it. They need to discuss a lot of things!
"You crying?" Aezar looked at him in amazement. His reaction was so exaggerated, he jumped from his seat in shock. "God! You really cry? Whoa!" As if he had not seen enough, he lowered his head and observed his swollen sister, then called out the same thing several times. Waw!
Rai wiped the tears violently. What's wrong with crying?
Aezar thought his explosive sister would never tear apart even after a meteor fall! However, if recalled, his sister had indeed become more normal and much calmer lately. Except, his habit of dirtying his room for sneaking animals.
Rai was upset and offended. He drives Aezar away, and cuts off the conversation about Eins. Although somewhat unwilling, Aezar left in a good mood, laughing along the corridor to the point of scaring away the nervous servants and guards in his place.
The horse came from a distance. Aezar returns from his daydream and sees General Harding coming in person with his private group of soldiers.
Rai still noticed the readiness of the group, then approached a hooded girl whom Aezar recognized as one of Vanaheimr's envoys with some surprise, seeming to tell him something.
When did they become familiar?
Aezar's attention is completely distracted by her sister's miraculous talents to the point of dizziness, while her own person is still as calm as ever.
He knows Eins is a talented witch. To his astonishment, this perfect healing and rain magic was magic that only Alfar mastered. How could Raina learn all that from him?
From the news spread, Eins did get along a lot with vier-gene, even creating a decent dwelling for them. It could be that some Alfar healers who have families with witches or vampires, or even other races, live there. Maybe he learned it from them.
Since there was no other possibility, and her sister's ability was so real and magical, Aezar only found out that this reason made sense. Unless, Rai lied and hid his talent all along.
However, Aezar immediately threw the thought to the back of his head. He was, his mind was helpless, very unpredictable.
