The Ghost Story of LESTARI

The Ghost Story of LESTARI
14. Trust me Mother

"So that house used to be the house of one of the managers of the Sugar factory?"

Ask Nilam.

Ms. Harti nodded.

"True Neng, it used to be actually here there were about five or even up to seven Dutch heritage houses, but after independence, the houses because they were not maintained eventually torn down with the ground."

"Then Mr. Ageng, was he a Dutch stooge at that time?"

Ms. Harti shook her head.

"I can't be sure he's a Dutch stooge or even a Japanese stooge. The story that exists in the middle of society is many versions, so do not know which is true."

Said Ms. Harti.

"But clearly, indeed the house that Neng Nilam later occupied with the husband was owned by Mr. Ageng, who then turned to the distant family of Bik Surti's parents."

Nilam.

"The distant family of Bik Surti means there is still a kinship with Mr Ageng Bu?"

Ms. Harti nodded.

"It seems so, or it could be the family of his abdicates. Ah I don't know, we know Neng, all the past in us is often confusing, let alone for ordinary people, important people history is not clear."

Nilam nodded slowly.

Yes it is so, history is always forgotten easily in this country.

Nilam stared at the building of the house he lived in with Tomi. A simple house that stands on the ground of a former Dutch house.

"The house is haunted."

Nilam murmured, then gulped down his drinking water.

Ms. Harti was silent.

Reluctant and not brave to talk about it.

Before long, a rickshaw was seen moving towards Nilam's house.

Bik Surti and his mother-in-law sat in the rickshaw, holding many crackle bags containing their groceries from the market.

"Ah that's Bik Surti."

Nilam said.

"That's Neng Nilam's husband's mother?"

Ask Bu Harti while standing up to Nilam who first stood up to welcome the arrival of his in-laws and his household assistant.

"Yes Mom, he's my in-laws."

Answer Nilam.

Ms. Harti.

Nilam then said thank you to Ms. Harti as well as saying goodbye to go home.

Ms. Harti drove up to the side of the road. Nilam half ran over to his in-laws who came down from the rickshaw.

Nilam helped carry the crackle bag her in-laws were carrying.

"Where are you Nilam?"

Ask Tomi's mother was astonished because Nilam was not in the house and was lying.

"From Bu's stall, it's talking to Ms. Harti."

Tomi's mother turned to the front stall of the house of Bu Harti which was located not far across the street near the house of Nilam and Tomi.

Ms. Harti who was still standing in front of her stall was seen smiling, her mother Tomi smiled back as well, although then rushed to take Nilam home.

"You are if there is no husband do not go out of the house, do not become a habit of sitting in the shop chatting for hours, better at home, do anything."

Her mother said Tomi gave her a message.

Nilam looks silent.

"Now still just chatting with fellow Mothers, later the same Fathers, this is a danger, as usual mingle with neighbors, but not so the rules."

Tomi's mother continued to nag, and increasingly nagged when she saw the door of the house was just closed by Nilam because she was so hasty.

The door was a little gawking, which if anyone had malicious intentions, would definitely be very easy to barge in.

"Look, what are you doing Nilam? Go without making sure the door of the house is closed and locked properly. You know Tomi's laptop is at home, and there's a lot of other stuff to look after."

"Sorry Mother, Nilam accidentally, Nilam hastily because..."

"Because what? Because you want to talk in a shop?"

Ask Tomi's mother.

Actually, Tomi's mother's voice is ordinary, her tone is also not high. But somehow it makes Nilam feel.

"I'm afraid Mom."

Nilam said at last as he turned to the right and to the left.

Tomi's mother sighed.

He walked closer to Tomi and Nilam's bedroom.

Nilam who followed behind him then said again,

"There's a pranky ghost Nilam Bu, I swear Ma'am."

Nilam.

Tomi's mother turned to look towards Nilam.

"What ghost? Where is Nilam's ghost."

Tomi's mother doesn't believe it.

Exactly as Nilam had expected.

Nilam then ventured into his room.

"She sprinkled the nightly flowers on the bed of Nilam and Tomi Bu, there were no nightly flowers here, but all of a sudden they filled the room of Nilam."

Nilam spoke as he unfolded the curtains of his room and pushed the width of his bedroom door so that it opened wide.

But...

Tomi's mother looked shaky head.

"What are the night flowers? Where is Nilam? There's nothing here?"

Tomi's mother looked at Nilam.

The image that clearly saw him was of course confused.

Where are those flowers?

Nilam sure very well if the flowers that night filled his bed last night, even the aroma could be clearly smelled by his nose.

"Had Mom said you were exhausted, you had to rest and not be too stressed. Besides, what makes you stress Nilam? You are not short of money, even Tomi so married directly appointed his position, if other women are sure he will even be very happy now. But you..."

"Mothers... Why are you talking about another woman? It hurts too much Mom, after all Nilam is not lying, Nilam is not making it up."

"But in fact what you say doesn't exist, the night-blooming, the ghost, you're hallucinating."

Her mother said Tomi was emotional.

"Ah come on, I'm cooking."

Tomi's mother took her grocery bag from Nilam's hand and rushed towards the inner room, leaving the crying Nilam staring at his empty bed and not a single night of flowers as he had seen before.

Bik Surti looks into the house with more groceries.

Nilam hurriedly wiped his tears, and blocked Bi Surti's footsteps.

"Bik... Please Patchy Bik."

Nilam.

"Please what Madam? What was? Why crying?"

Bik Surti was confused.

"So in the room there were a lot of nightly flowers Bik, I swear Bik, I saw the flower sprinkled on the bed, but now it's gone somewhere, even the smell is not there. I can't believe what I'm saying, really Bik, Bik Surti who knows that this house is haunted, tell Mom that I'm not hallucinating. It's real Bik... Please." Please."

Patchouli with tears, his hand holding Bik Surti's arm trembled.

Bik Surti looked at Nilam's pity.

"Yes Madam, I'll tell Mr. Tomi's mother."

Bik Surti.

"I want to move... I don't want to stay here anymore."

Rintih Nilam's.
