I'm taking you off

I'm taking you off
Don't Call Mommy

Breezy wind and fragrant foliage refreshes the sense of smell welcoming Nara, when she opens the window of her mess room, the window lined with iron bars immediately presents a view of the forest in front of her.  A little scary especially at night.

“Ngeri also if I am alone, there is no cry for help who wants to hear” inner Nara while shuddering.

After cleaning his belongings, Nara went into the bathroom to clean and ablution, then performed Asar prayers. Nara had just laid down her body when someone knocked on her bedroom door..

“Tok.. Mbak Nara” Call a sound from outside the room

“Iya briefly “ answered Nara then opened the door

“what's Dod?”

“I want to recognize wak Atun and Lisa, that's the person in front of”

“Alright, I'm ahead, oh yes one more, you don't call Mbak dong, we're the same age.. trus also relax aja use me you let me be more familiar” said Nara, because it feels uncomfortable called Mbak.

“Eh that, I'm not good, right mbak Nara position his position above me, ntar said no more polite”

“Lha you, call Brother Bram who is above you, just use the name” replied Nara

“Yes, because it's a habit from small. Bram is playing, so it's common to call just name” replied Dodi.

“Again me also, so call me aja” pinta Nara

“Ok ready Bos” replied Dodi.

Nara locked the door and walked towards the living room.

“ini Lisa and it wak Atun” said Dodi introduced two women who were sitting in wooden chairs.

“ Nara” said Nara as she reached out to the two people.

“Please help me as long as I am here” said Nara again.

“This Lisa will help your work here, besides me. If Wak Atun can be said to be a housekeeper here, he cleans the house, does laundry and also prepares meals, said Dodi.

Nara nodded listening to Dodi's explanation, as this was indeed the first time she had been here and also went straight down to the field.

“If so, I want to prepare dinner first yes non” said Wak Atun

“But I don't know what non tastes, later not eaten”

"Any wak, which is important halal, I am not picky food" replied Nara.

"Include the jengkol pete" cut Dodi

"hihi.. kalu it's the last option. I don't like. better salted fish same sambal terasi" replied Nara.

"He's not picky" Dodi protested.

"Lho koq on the storm, already wak will not cook jengkol same pete, so you if you want to eat your own cooking" said Wak Atun who leads to Dodi.

"Ooh. so that's Dodi's favorite food, the pantes are insistent" Nara said as she mocked Dodi.

Dodi just grinned the horse heard it.

Wak orun was back, while Dodi, Nara and Lisa are still in talks to work out a plan for tomorrow.

The next day, Dodi and Lisa invite Nara as well as Bram to meet the village chief and village elder. According to the village rules, all guests who come must report to prevent unwanted things.

After reporting, they also drove around the village by car. The atmosphere of the village is still very beautiful, most of the people have a search as farmers, planters and also takers and processors of forest products.

Before long they arrived in the area of customary forest owned by the village, this forest is still very guarded by the villagers, because most of the forest area in this area already belongs to the company, including the company where Nara and Dodi work. But the company still gives villagers the right to ulayat forest areas that cannot enter the company area. One of the projects that Nara is doing is how the community does management of village forests, by utilizing forest products but not destroying forest areas. Do not do illegal logging and do not convert forests into plantation areas.

The four of them entered the forest through a path, which made the residents to go out into the forest.

“So the forest products used by residents here, such as taking rattan and pandan leaves to be made various handicrafts, the results will be marketed through MSMEs. Well in addition there are also fruits that are fruits of a kind of rattan that is very expensive because it can be a raw material for cosmetics and drugs are also exported out of the country” said Dodi explaining the use of forests made by the community.

“Jernang?” I've been horrified, but have never seen directly” said Bram.

“So, if lucky, we can see it. Because it is very difficult to find it today, when in the past my father said it was very easy to find and became the main livelihood of the community. But because a lot of encroachment so rattan producer is very minimal” explained Lisa.

“That's right, because Lisa is a native of this village, so she understands very well. If you want to ask more, it could also be the same father Lisa” said Dodi.

Bram also began to actively target various types of trees, plants and animals found with his camera. While Nara was busy noting the important things that would enter her writing later. In addition to Dodi, Lisa also explained some of the activities of the village community.

The sun began to rise, Dodi also invited to go home for lunch.

“We go home first yuk, rest. If you want to see the activities of the citizens, tomorrow morning we leave. Because usually the morning residents enter the forest with supplies and new afternoons will return home” explained Dodi

They decided to go back to base camp. On the way home, they continued their conversation.

“By the way Bram's research is here what” Tanya Nara who is still curious about Bram's activities.

“Owh, I am researching Endemic trees and plants that are already rare on the island of Sumatra, he said in this area there are still many rare trees and plants and also some of the animals such as Sumatran tigers, elephants and others” explained Bram.

“Currently due to habitat destruction as well as the abundance of poaching many protected endangered wildlife are on the verge of extinction.  So we want to take samples of photos and videos that are in the wild and later created digital books to make it easier to introduce to the community, especially the younger generation, because at this time the younger generation is more surfing in cyberspace than in the library” added Bram. Bram also explained some of the projects he was compiling with his team.

Without feeling they have arrived at the camp and have been greeted with lunch dishes that have been prepared wak atun.
