Autumn In Kent

Autumn In Kent
Asian Girl

The house that Puti was looking for was an orange-painted house that was striking to the eye. Contrast with the snow on the road and the yard. Puti got out of his car immediately. Not forgetting he closed the window locking the door. The area holds the record for car theft.

A fat-bodied black woman appeared after Puti pressed the long bell.

‘What are you looking for in a place like this, Asian Girl?’ Ask the woman with her voice.

‘I'm looking for Billy McCroom,’ replied Puti politely.

‘Billy, there's an Asian girl looking for you! ‘shout the woman loudly. Sounds Billy's speech that is not less challenging. A moment later Billy showed up. He was shocked to see the arrival of Puti.

‘Kukira you have returned to Salem,’ said Billy while inviting Puti into the house. A simple but clean house. Billy introduces him to the fat woman who turns out to be Billy's mother.

‘Indeed. But I came back again because there is something I have to talk to you about,’ Puti replied after Mrs. McCroom left them.

‘What do you want to talk about, Put?’ ask Billy after Puti sits comfortably. Puti pondered for a moment to look for words. During the trip he had been making up what words he would spit out to Billy. But it turns out those words are not appropriate. He needs other words.

‘Billy,’ says Puti finally. ‘Today I consider you my friend. One of my best friends. But you don't think of me as a friend. Even you're pecking at me. ‘

‘Puti, I don't understand what you mean? I'm your friend,’ Billy dodged quickly.

‘No need to pretend anymore. Last night, I overheard your conversation with Michael Gray. I know what you're doing right now. Investigating Steve Carroll. For what?’ Puti decided to attack. No pleasantries. His eyes glowed with anger. Billy is not struggling. He can no longer dodge.

‘Puti, I .. ‘

‘What right do you have to investigate Steve? Do you feel better than Steve? I don't understand at all,’ Puti paused for a moment. ‘I think I deserve to hang out with anyone. With good people or bad people. I want you to respect my personal rights. From now on I don't want you to be around me. Because I know you're gonna report to Mike soon. ‘

‘For God's sake, Puti, I didn't mean to be evil,’ Billy swore.

‘Nah, explain your good intentions,’ challenge Puti bravely. ‘And since when did you know Mike? She is not a KSU alumnus and she has never lived in Kent.’

‘I met Mike at Prof's party. Miller, the same night you asked me to find a job,’ Billy began to explain. ‘He who approached me. I don't know where she'll find out that I'm your college friend. Long story short, Mike asked me to find a job that was not so tiring. He'll pay your salary.’ Billy paused for a moment to observe Puti's reaction. The observed ones showed no reaction. His face was still cold.

The night she came to break off the engagement and ran off without meeting me, thought Puti.

‘Since then, Mike has been calling me to ask how you are doing. When I found out that your engagement broke up, I called her to ask her about her commitment to Mrs. The Belmont. He said to continue, until you decided to stop.’

‘Then what does this have to do with Steve?’

‘If he wants to know about Steve, he can ask me. I think I know Steve better than anyone in the world, ’ Puti replied bragging. ‘You don't need to find complete information about Steve. I know everything, and I don't care. Are you going to tell me about Steve's love story with dozens of women? I already know even I already know who that woman is. Clear, Billy? I don't want you to bother me anymore. Stay out of my life, will you?’

‘Puti, you really don't understand our intent.’

‘Maybe and I don't want to understand. All I want is to live this life as I please without anyone to manage, ’ said Puti low while removing an envelope from her bag.

‘And this is the salary I collected during my time at Belmont. You can give it back to Mike or you want whatever you can. Also tell Mrs. Belmont, if I start this second I come out of the store,’ continued Puti while standing.

‘Puti, listen to my explanation first,’ pinta Billy in the fog.

‘No need. I should have realized from the beginning. Everyone says Mrs. Belmont was chatty and rambunctious, but strangely not to me. I should have been suspicious because it was as small as the store but was able to pay me more than the department stores. I actually worked there without a salary. Mike who pays me,’ said Puti almost accompanied by tears. Then he stepped out. Billy followed. Puti did not give him a chance to defend himself. Come directly to attack.

‘Puti allow me to explain. No more than five sentences,’ Billy blocking in front of Puti. Puti awaits. ‘Mike did all that because he loved you. Regardless of who the woman will eventually marry. But he does not want you to suffer. With the path he is taking now he wants to make you happy. Don't you feel it?’

‘I don't want others to make me happy. I can find my own happiness,’ said Puti while continuing his steps back. He walked up to his car, opened the door, walked in and ran it without even turning to Billy.

He quickly left the slum. Arriving in downtown Kent, Puti felt her eyes blur. He looked into the rearview mirror and saw his face was already wet with tears.

Since when do I cry? thought Puti while marginalizing her car. Then enter the parking lot of a beauty salon that is still open. He did not want to risk driving a car with blurred vision. Before getting off the car Puti looked at his old face in the rearview mirror.

‘God not to mention I'm blind but I can't see who I really am,’ he whispered. ‘Other people set me up,’ he continued. The tears that had been wiped from his face came back down.

After her crying completely stopped, Puti just got off the car. He slowly stepped into the salon and entered. A beautiful and fashionable man welcomed her warmly.

‘I don't have a reservation, it's still possible not to get a haircut?’ Tanya Puti hesitated.

‘Sedar cut or rearranged?

‘Retated. I want a completely new appearance,’ said Puti.

‘How long time do you have?’

‘As long as you need. I don't have any events..’
