Chapter 56 The Wife of Solehah

One way to be grateful for someone who has been married is to be a husband who is Soleh and also a wife who is Soleh.

The wife of shalihah is certainly the desire of every husband. Likewise with the wife, being a wife of prayer is the desire of every wife, even every woman there is. In this case, Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam bersabda,

“The world is the jewelry and the best jewelry of the world is the shalihah woman.” (Hadith Muslim history of Abdullah ibn Umar).

The problem is, how to be a wife of shalihah? Is it hard to be a wife of shalihah? In the following, I will describe some characteristics of the wife of Salihah which are reinforced with the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad SAW.

Compassionate, One of the characteristics of women who are submissive is that they have a gentle nature and are full of affection with those around them.

This is in accordance with the hadith of Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said :

“Will I tell you, your wives who are the inhabitants of heaven are loving wives, many children, always returning to their husbands. Where if her husband is angry, she comes to him and puts her hand on his hand saying: “I cannot sleep before you are ridha.” (CHR. An-Nasai in Isyratun Nisa. 257.).

Devoted to the husband, a righteous wife will always be devoted to her husband. Because wives are aware that in order to get ridho of God, they have to make their husbands ridho to him.

Therefore the prophet taught his people to seek a wife because of her religion, not because of her beauty, wealth, or position. Because only women who have a good religion can create a happy family.

Keeping the family secret is an absolute thing done by a woman. Especially with regard to husband and wife relationships.

If there is a shortage of each partner is forbidden to tell it to anyone.

This is in accordance with the hadith, Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said: “Do not do it again, because it is like a male shaitan who meets a female devil in the street, then it is appreciated while the human watches it.” (CHR. Ahmad 6/456).

“Will I tell you about the best treasury of a man, that is the wife of the shalihah who when viewed will please him, if ordered will obey him and when he goes this wife will take care of herself”. (CHR. Abu Dawud. 1417).

Serving a husband while at home, a good woman is one who serves her husband well. Even in Islam teaches a wife is forbidden to perform worship that is sunna such as fasting, safar, or other worship without the consent of her husband.

Because it is feared will hinder her husband to special‘ with his wife. Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said:

“It is not halal for a wife to fast (sunnah) while her husband is there (not traveling) except with his permission”. (CHR. Al-Bukhari – Muslims).

One of the reasons many women go to hell is kufur (not grateful) for what their husbands have given them.

Today there are many wives who have disobeyed their husbands. They get kindness from her husband for a whole year and when they find her husband's ugliness they say “I have never seen from you any kindness at all”.

Therefore, as a woman, she must be grateful for what her husband has given.

For Allah has prepared a painful punishment for a wife who is disobedient to her husband. Prophet Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam also said:

“God will not look to a wife who is not grateful to her husband when he needs her.” (CHR. An-Nasai in Isyratun Nisa.)

Laura Eveline felt her heart pounded with the words of Mr. ustadz on the pulpit. He shed his tears in his life and the good fortune God was giving him.

He should be more grateful because what God has given him has been so much. And now she felt so guilty for her husband that she had neglected all night.
