“You have got it. That nice. You should learn from School Head Chen, who is a knowledgeable person. As for me, there is not much I can teach you because I am old.” Grandpa Gen said as he placed the hookah on his waist. With a smile on his face, he looked at Ye Jian who was wiping away his sweat. “Come, I'll take you to a nice place you like.”

“Where are we going, brother? You haven't had breakfast. Should we go home and cook noodles first?” In a hurry, Ye Jian placed his towel around his neck and carried a wooden bucket filled with water, following Grandpa Gen with steady steps. As he laughed, his voice sounded clearer and more melodious than the sound of birds in the bamboo forest.

"unneeded. We'll have food when we get there. Put bucket. You can take her home when we get back tonight.” Grandpa Gen said with a smile. As a 70-year-old senior, he walked at a fast and steady pace that would defeat a youngster.

Behind the mountain was a vast bamboo forest. Shrouded in the morning mist, the place looked like a magical land.

Grandpa Gen stopped in front of a cave. Every household in the village had this kind of cave to store yams and the like. He told Ye Jian, "Open the door, son."

Ever since Ye Jian could remember, he had known of the existence of the cave in his house. But it never occurred to him that this cave led to another place!

"Seek your steps. Don'tbeafraid. Just follow me.” said Grandfather General Ye Jian touching the dry stone wall with both hands while walking in the pitch-black passageway, which led him to somewhere deep underground. His astonishment at this moment was no less than when he was revived.

And only now did he realize how often those soldiers appeared in his house!

The tunnel is rather long. After walking for almost half an hour, Ye Jian finally saw a dim light, which meant that the entrance to the cave was not far away.

Ye Jian did not open his eyes until they adjusted to the light. He saw that the military camp hidden deep within the mountain was near.

After they came out of the cave, they walked down the mountain. Half an hour later, they arrived at the paved road. On the roadside stood a white signboard with red letters on it, which read, “LIMIT” MILITARY AREA.

There is a stretch of barbed wire fence 400 meters away. Behind the fence is a barbed wire gate. In total, four soldiers were holding weapons and keeping watch.

Ye Jian looked further into the forest on the mountain and saw an observation post hidden deep within the forest.

This is a heavily guarded area. And led by Grandpa Gen, he could enter easily!

An armed soldier walked towards them. After saluting Grandfather Gen, he verified their identities.

An ordinary-looking vehicle drove past them. Then, stop in front of the guard post.

The left and right doors of the car open simultaneously. As the soldier driving the car handed over his identity documents to the guards, a young soldier jumped out of the passenger seat and walked towards Ye Jian.

"Grandfather, you are here" said the young soldier with a smile on his graceful and handsome face. His military uniform is neat and well ironed. He saluted Grandpa Gen and said, “Unfortunately I have to postpone my appointment with you. The school has made an emergency phone call and I need to check it out. Maybe next time."

Grandpa Gen laughed and said, “The job of a soldier is to obey orders. Captain Xia, we can arrange another appointment when you return.
