The cave where Joko bumped is named Pindul Cave which comes from the word in Javanese, gebendul cheek (pindul) which means cheek bumped.

There is also a mention that the beginning of Goa Pindul comes from the story of the journey of Ki Juru Mertani and Ki Ageng Pemanahan who traveled eastward to (direction of Gunungkidul) with a baby. While the baby continued to cry, Ki Juru Mertani and Ki Ageng Pemanahan decided to bathe the baby. Ki Juru Mertani climbed onto one of the hills and stepped on the ground at the top of the hill. With the magic possessed by the ground that was stepped on collapsed and defeated a large hole with a flow of water below, then the baby was bathed in the cave in the hole earlier.

While the History of Goa Pindul other versions tell that in the cave there is a well-known spring with the term mbelik for the Javanese. The springs by the surrounding residents are known by the name mbelik panguripan which means the fountain of life.
